**6/18/2017** After emailing/calling customer service multiple times I was able to purchase a replacement motor ($72.60 includes shipping). I was able to swap in the new one. The row machine is now working. ************************************************* **03/30/2017 update** I've been trying to get a part to fix the rower since December 2016. I've emailed and called multiple times with no resolution from manufacturer. Will update if anything changes. ************************************************** I purchased the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower on Jan 1st 2016 and it died on my December 3rd 2016. The manufacturer (CAP Barbell) will not respond to emails on how to fix. I have used the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower at a very minimum of once a week since I received it. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs and it has worked great for me. I had been very happy with this product until it broke down. The CAP Barbell customer service experience has been sub-par. I'd be fine with replacing the motor if the cost was reasonable but I can no longer get a response from CAP Barbell. I just hope I didn't waste all this money on the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower that the manufacturer, CAP Barbell, will not support. ... show more

    • Decent workout but I can't ignore the stability issues

I've owned this rower for about a month now. Overall its effective and does what it's supposed to, but there are a few quality issues I'd like to make known. 1. The digital display does not turn off. I've asked other owners and they say it will automatically turn off after a period of time. Sometimes mine will turn off, sometimes it will remain lit for hours. 2. The rower stability is poor. I have to stay super focused on how I stroke or it will tilt from side to side. Meaning I can't watch a TV show or listen to a podcast while I row, nor can I row over a certain speed. 3. Whenever I stroke, the front of the machine lifts up. Just half an inch or so, just enough to be noticable and annoying as it bounces off the floor. I've taken it apart and put it back together and tried it on every floor in my house but I cant solve any of these stability issues. I still feel like I'm getting a decent workout, just not the workout I want to get as I can't zone out while I row or I'm tilting left to right and bouncing off the floor. I purchased this rower in 2012 because I'm very lazy and hate working out anywhere outside my house. I can't believe I've had this rower for nearly 6 years now and it's still going as strong as the day I bought it! I row fairly consistently at 3-4x a week for probably 1/2 an hour and it's pretty much in the same condition as I bought it, with some minor squeaking here and there. The machine itself is very heavy and durable, easy to assemble and move (it's come with me via the backseat of my car to several small rooms in various apartments), space-efficient, quiet, and it gives you a great workout. This doesn't look like one of those huge concept machines, but it fits me in just fine. I'm pretty short and small (5'2'' and maybe 110lbs), but my tall (6'2'' 190lbs) boyfriend is able to work out and extend his giant legs without any problem, and the machine remains stable. I bought a floor mat to protect our carpet from the weight and that's worked out just fine. I love knowing I can work out pretty much any time of the day without traveling anywhere or making too much noise. I really don't have any complaints and would recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient way to exercise :] ... show more

I've been using this for a couple weeks and overall am very happy with the purchase for the price. Just a couple of notes I wanted to share: Quiet - the main reason I went with magnetic vs air resistance is the noise level, and this delivers being very quiet indeed. My gf uses it in the room next to our bedroom and I can't hear it when I'm awake let alone have it wake me up if I'm sleeping. Size - this is about as compact as I imagine it could be made and fits nicely where I wanted it. That being said about the only negative I have with it is also due to it's size or maybe configuration. I'm 6'-1" tall with long arms and long legs (35" inseam) and while the seat rail is plenty long with 3-4" of travel remaining when I'm at full extension, the part the could be better is the other end. When at the "catch" as the rowers call it, the full forward position, I do not have enough room to have my arms straight out in front of me or cannot fully scrunch up my lower body. In other words the foot position is too close to being underneath the hand bar, the bar should be further forward or the foot rests further back. I have adjusted to this configuration, but could be more optimal with some design changes. Quality - built very well, and was very easy to assemble although instructions could be a little better. As others noted mine arrived with the display hanging out, but was not damaged in any way and was simple to pop back into place. ... show more

Glad That I bought it on Amazon because I called them to tell them that it broke after two weeks!!! and they were very very nice about it I could not believe that after two weeks it started to make horrible noises and there was no tension at all. On arms. but I’m very grateful that Amazon was able to issue a refund soon. and they will be picking up the rower as soon as possible. I hope! Pain to pack it up. Took 5 hours. What a waste of time!!!!!! ... show more
