And although the grill is compact, its ample cooking grate is large enough to cook most family meals - 8 steaks, 8 hamburgers, 6 - 10 chicken breasts, or over 4-pound of fish. The grill heats up very quickly, and reaches temperatures high enough to sear a steak to perfection. Storage is a snap - with its folding legs it stows almost anywhere. The grill plugs into a standard household electrical receptacle, and is UL approved for outdoor use. Innovative culinary tools are the Cuisinart signature. Enter the CEG-980T electric tabletop grill, a handy, attractive alternative to traditional grilling. Combining the simplicity of an indoor appliance with the delicious cooking performance of an outdoor grill, the CEG-980T is perfect for people who love cooking outdoors but don't want to deal with the hassle of propane or charcoal. The control knob works just like the knobs on most kitchen stoves. (View larger). The electric grill offers a 145-square-inch grilling surface. (View larger). The foldout legs keep the grill secure on a variety of surfaces. (View larger). The Advantage of Electric GrillingTraditional gas and charcoal grills offer a wide variety of styles and designs--from large multi-burner gas grills with built-in islands to barrel- like charcoal grills--but sometimes prove to be too large, too intimidating, or too inconvenient for would-be outdoor chefs. While gas grills are certainly handy, some people find it discomforting and dangerous to cook with propane. Charcoal grills, while perhaps less intimidating, take considerable time to light and prepare, and can be messy to clean up afterward. Plus, some apartments and condos ban the use of propane or charcoal altogether. Electric grills minimize all of the above concerns, with instant-on controls, easy-to- clean designs, and no smelly gas or messy charcoal to get in the way of your cooking. Familiar, Easy-to-Use ControlsThe grilling process begins with the easiest fuel source you can find--a simple cord and outlet--along with a removable electric probe with a control knob that functions just like the knobs on most kitchen stoves. To get started, just plug the probe into the front of the grill and turn the knob to "Max." Within five minutes, the heating element will be glowing a toasty red and the grill will be ready for cooking. When you're finished grilling, the knob turns off just as easily. And cleanup couldn't be easier, as the porcelain-enameled grill grate cleans with a standard grill brush or removes for washing in an indoor or outdoor sink. Powerful Grilling PerformanceThe Cuisinart electric grill cooks up juicy steaks, burgers, and fish just like a gas grill thanks to the powerful 1,500-watt, 5,120 BTU burner, which spreads heat quickly and evenly through the 145-square-inch grill grate. The compact design produces a greater watt- to-square-inch ratio, leading to higher temperatures on the grate and better, more uniform cooking for your food. In addition, the grill includes a stainless-steel heat reflector in the lid. This extra layer not only acts as an insulator for trapping heat inside the grill, but actually reflects rising heat inside the grill back onto the top surfaces of your food, reducing cooking times and saving electricity. All of this translates into searing hot temperatures and prefect grill lines on everything you cook.Despite the compact size, the grilling surface is large enough to grill eight burgers, eight stakes, six to 10 chicken breasts, or up to 4 pounds of fish. Quick, Efficient SetupThe tabletop grill not only shines when it's loaded with food, but also when you're on the move, as the grill is a breeze to transport, set up, and store. The clever design includes two foldout legs that lock quickly into place, so you're ready to grill 20 seconds after pulling the grill from its storage location. The pair of tubular aluminum legs and stabilizing feet also keep the grill secure on almost any surface, including the ground, a patio table, or the Cuisinart CSGS-100 grill stand (sold separately). The grill also features a secure lid lock on the front of the grill that keeps the lid closed when the grill is moved from place to place, along with a pronounced carrying handle that lets you tote the 13-pound grill briefcase- style. To make transport even easier, grillers can opt to purchase the CGC-19 grill cover (sold separately), which doubles as a carrying bag.

  • It grills beautifully.
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
It does a great job of grilling. The problem is the release of the heating element, it has a couple of odd screws that have to be undone to clean, my grill in particular, only one side was able to unscrew, the other was stripped, making it impossible to move the element out of the grill. I have to clean around it, which I can do with some effort. That said, it works very well, otherwise. Heats quickly and I get good grill marks. Cooks chicken in about forty five minutes all the way through. ... show more

  • Electric Grill
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
Had to return first unit since the lid lock was broken and could not remove the heater to clean the bottom of the grill. Got second unit and it works fine. Have used it several times and there appears to be no problems. The dripping tray is a problem to clean since it has a fixed cover and a very small hole on top so if greases hardens in there will need to reheat and poke grease out with a wire. Also tried to remove the bottom of the grill to clean it and found that one of the screws was not removable because the screw was overtighted at the factory and the nutsert is loose in the hole. That is OK so far. Will line the bottom of the grill with aluminum foil to catch the drippings and make it easier to clean. Cooked a thick steak just fine just had to add a little time. Factory has to tighten screws a little less so nutserts do not pop loose making it impossible to remove parts. Overall I like it. ... show more

  • Love that this electric grill is fast and easy to use.
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
I like the ease of electric no need for gas tank. We did drill small holes on the sides of the lid to allow for ventilation. I also line the bottom with tin foil and change that after every use to make cleaning easier and prevent grease drippings from building up.

  • Compact and powerful
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
I was a bit skeptical about this purchase because I saw mixed reviews, some of which state that it isn't strong enough, even to make grill marks. But I decided to go head and get it (because I had a coupon nearing expiration)--and I am glad I did! First, it is a good-looking unit. It feels substantial and well-constructed, as well--and it IS powerful. The recipe said "10 minutes on each side" to cook pork loins; however, I ended up overcooking my first batch. The second batch came up perfect--complete with pretty grill marks, as I reduced the grilling time to 8 minutes each side! The vegetables, too, came out perfect. Cleaning is sufficiently easy, although I do wish the heating element could be moved out of the way to clean the bottom more easily. So, I now place aluminum foils under the cooking element to make it easier to clean. Also, one of the best features of this unit is that the legs fold completely, making it easy to stow away. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Unable to find replacement parts
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
BEWARE -- I have purchased 2 of these grills. First in 2016, replaced it in 2019 because heating element burned out and wasn't able to get replacement. Now 2nd one has also burned out. Amazon doesn't have replacement for Cuisinart brand. Called Cuisinart company directly. Part will cost $40 to replace. Love the grill but seems crazy to have to replace it ever few years due to no replacement parts. ... show more

  • A good small outdoor grill for the price
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
This is a good small electric outdoor grill for the price. I bought it because local regulations prohibit gas grills on the deck of my condo. lt works well for steaks, burgers and fish but not as good as my old gas grill. It's a bit klutzy and difficult to clean and can't be left outdoors, but under my circumstances it was a good choice. ... show more

  • Not as Promised
Style: Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill
I was careful buy a tabletop grill that would have enough BTU's to cook meat. This one showed to have enough, but when I am using it, I never know if the outcome will be good. The best I have found is to heat it up as hot as it will get about 5 minutes before starting any cooking, but even then you are lucky to get any grill marks. It is better than nothing and better than some propane portables I have used, but I think it is inaccurately rated for BTU output. ... show more
