Description

The Sena SMH10 Motorcycle Bluetooth 3.0 Headset and Intercom was designed to keep you connected to your riding companions over longer ranges for conversation and music sharing--up to 900 meters (980 yards). When paired with a Bluetooth-enabled phone, it'll also let you make hands-free calls. The SMH10 features a Universal Microphone Kit. The Jog Dial makes for an intuitive user interface that is much easier to control while riding. The Jog Dial default is volume control, and pushing the integrated button lets you cycle through all device functions with minimal fuss, which means you'll ride safer. The SMH10 delivers crystal-clear, natural sound through the stereo Bluetooth headset that gets an automatic boost in noisy environments while Advanced Noise Control technology cuts down on background noise for both incoming and outgoing audio. The Bluetooth music playback control features play, pause, track forward and track back functions, plus each audio source has its own adjustable volume level. Integrated voice prompts (available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) help you quickly learn your way around the device. You'll get up to 12 hours of talk time and 10 days of stand-by time on a single charge. And even if your companions don't have Sena gear, the SMH10 uses the Universal Intercom protocol, which allows your gear to work with theirs, regardless of brand. The SMH10-11 is a Bluetooth v3.0 + EDR Class 1 Stereo Headset with long-range Bluetooth Intercom designed specifically for motorcycles. With the SMH10-11, you can call hands-free on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigations by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other motorcycle riders. This SMH10-11 bundle comes with a universal microphone kit that includes both a boom mic and a wired mic for versatile helmet installation. Enjoy Bluetooth music playback control by AVRCP: play, pause, track forward and track back.Other Bluetooth features include Multi-Pair to allow intercom functionality for 4 persons, and compatibility with select motorcycle GPS systems. Use as an intercom, or connect to your portable devicesIndividual Adjustable Volume ProfilesYou can easily decrease/increase the volume of the voice, music and intercom using Jog Dial. This means that phone volume (HSP/HFP), music volume (A2DP), and intercom volumes will be saved separately and return to its own saved volume level whenever associated profile is reconnected.Profile volume adjustment is only affected during the use of its specific profile. However, when changing volume during standby mode, then volume change applies to all profiles. • Great intercom, easy to install
Size: Dual Style: SMH10-11
I have been using my Sena SMH10D-11 for a few weeks now and just love it. The sound is clear and the controls are easy to use. I can adjust the volume up or down with my Tourmaster gloves on or even skip ahead or back on songs when I pair my smartphone to it. The battery life seems to be quite good as well. One day I was listening to music while riding and I started to hear beeps go off. I thought '"what's that?" and then thought it might be someone trying to call my phone. So, I said "Hello", and the Sena SMH10 answered. It was my friend calling me. He said he couldn't tell I was riding a motorcycle. The sound quality was very good - using my full-face helmet. I will say that playing music lacks good bass but is still pretty good. You can't expect much from such small speakers. They're not like earplug style speakers. Voice quality (send & receive) is excellent. Installation was pretty easy on my full-face helmet. Just unsnap and pull out the liner panels and run the wires through it, then snap everything back in. Took about a half hour for each helmet. I did have to cut a notch in the plastic edge molding on the helmet next to where I mounted the Sena to make it easy to keep the it's wires close to the edge. The "11" model is the way to go for full-face helmets since you get an additional mic that can be attached just in front of your mouth on the chin guard with the Velcro strip provided. You also receive a boom mic if you need to attach it to a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet. Just a word on Sena's Technical Support folks...(since some reviews have entered negative comments regarding Sena's customer support). I emailed them (Tech Support, not Customer Support) before I made the purchase because I had questions regarding the differences between the SMH10D, SMH10D-10 and SMH10D-11 and also how to interface with the CB radio on my '05 Harley Ultra Classic. I received an email back from Tristan right away and he and I exchanged several emails until I had all of my questions answered. Tristan went above and beyond to help me. So, I'd like to give a little praise where praise is due. I was a bit disappointed to learn I would not be able to talk through the additional SM10 transmitter (in conjunction with the 7-pin DIN connect cord they sell) on my CB, but I could listen to it - and the FM radio as well. I told him it would be great for Sena to add that feature and he said he'd pass it on to their engineering department. So, I'm hoping something happens as a result of that. I ordered the SM10 and interface cable today. So, once I have that installed and working I'll review that as well. Once again, great product - and looks good too! ... show more

  • Great hardware, design, and ergonomics
Size: Single Style: SMH10-10
I wanted something that would allow me to use Bluetooth for my iPhone in my Harley-Davidson motorcycle helmet. I am getting back into motorcycle touring after a multi-decade layoff -- the last time I was into cycling there was no such thing as either Bluetooth or cellular phones. So this review will be written from the standpoint of a complete novice. First, the hardware. It appears to be very well-made. Some hardware is made of cheap plastic and some is made of heavier duty better plastic -- as this device is. They supply you with a USB charging cable as well as a cigarette-style charger. The device is divided into basically three parts -- the microphone and earpieces, the battery/control module, and the helmet interface. This modular design allows you to leave the helmet interface on the helmet all the time while you easily remove the battery/control module for charging or for interfacing to the computer for a firmware upgrade. The helmet interface attaches more or less permanently to the helmet. You basically clamp it between the hard plastic liner and the foam liner of the helmet. This may sound a bit hairy, but in practice I had no trouble at all doing this. This module stays on the helmet more or less permanently, and the speakers and microphone are attached to this. For my helmet it was a 1 minute job positioning the earpieces because my Harley-Davidson helmet happily has netting specifically designed to accept ear speakers. There was no trouble positioning the microphone. The unit comes supplied with various stick-on attachments for attaching the speakers to the helmet but I did not need this. Pairing the unit to your iPhone is very easy. Further, the SMH10 has voice feedback so it tells you when you are in pairing mode, when you are paired, when the unit is powering up or down, etc. in English or several other selectable languages. The battery/control module snaps onto the helmet interface and as I noted above is easily removable for charging or for updating firmware. I had the whole rig set up in about 15 minutes or less. Pairing with the iPhone was a snap. No issue there. This unit has very good sound fidelity and plenty of volume. Even on the road I can very much enjoy listening to music or talking on the iPhone. The unit has a "hands-free" mode where you can answer the phone simply by shouting (and you do have to shout) "hello!" and it has a speed dial function which I have not yet tried. Music from my iPhone sounds great. The unit is used by a lot of riders for bike-to-bike intercom. I have not tested this feature. I bought the unit primarily to interface to my iPhone. I updated the firmware on the SMH-10. This is very easy. You go to Sena's website and it will guide you through the process. No problems doing this. Overall I am giving this one five stars because it works well, has excellent hardware, and installed easily in all respects. Can't ask for more. RJB. ... show more
