Top Amazon Reviews

  • A very good pair of truly wireless earbuds, at a great price point.
Color: Black
These Liberty 2 Pros are being primarily used with an Apple iPhone XSMax. First, let me say that I have listened to quite a few types of wireless earbuds, including Apple, Sony, Klipsch, Beats and others. I am not going to say that these are hands down the best I've heard, but I will say that these are my new favorite pair. They have outstanding clarity, deep, but controlled bass, and do have a sound stage that is really outstanding. Allow me to add that I have not experienced any of the hissing or background noise that others have had with these buds. They are dead silent when they are supposed to be. I would assume that has to do with an update to their Soundcore App? I really don't know. In any case, this was a major concern when I ordered these and read the reviews here. If that were the case, I would've simply returned them. Happily, that will not have to occur. The fit and comfort of these are perfect for my ears. That was always the major deal breaker with Apple's buds. They simply did not fit well in my ear canals, which are small. I've defaulted back to the stock tips and wings. They were the most comfortable and most secure fitting of the myriad of choices that Anker supplies with these earbuds. If sound isolation is important to you, these do a great job of blocking outside noises, even though they have no active noise cancellation. This is also where the best fitting tips will be imperative. Important to note, Anker’s recommendation of "insert, twist and lock" really is the best way to position them in your ears. So, to summarize, for listening to music, these are a 9 out of 10. Watching YouTube videos provided no noticeable latency issues. Same with Netflix and Amazon. Great earbuds to watch movies with. There were times when I noticed a very small delay/latency, but it corrected itself right away. I don't think that has to do with the Liberty 2 Pros, as much as the general stream overall. So, for entertainment, watching videos etc., I'll give them an 8 out of 10. The Soundcore app does what it’s supposed to do, and the fact that there is a dedicated app to fine tune the buds is a bonus. I only wish Anker would provide a graphic equalizer option to truly customize the sound. Maybe in a future software update? Anker, are you listening? The charging case is either a love it or like it thing. I love it. The way the top slides open is classy. It's cool. And it’s different than flipping a top like on other cases. The case has a smooth feel to it and fits comfortably in a pocket. The battery life is simply outstanding, and probably the best out there right now. USB-C is a great choice for fast wired charging, but the fact that they support wireless charging was the icing on the cake. One of my favorite non-listening aspects of the Liberty 2 Pros. Now, for where I feel the Liberty 2 Pros could improve... call quality. Even with the 4 microphones, callers I asked would say there was a difference in speaking through the buds and using the actual phone. The buds made the calls "distant" sounding. I heard it for myself. It's by no means a deal-breaker, but something that could be improved upon. Ambient noise cancelling was pretty good, as callers didn't notice excessive bleed-through of other voices or street noise. Overall, I would give them a 5 out of 10 for call quality, and a 6/10 for noise rejection. Overall recommendations: I would certainty stack the Anker Liberty 2 Pros against other mid-premium earbuds in the $150-$200 price bracket. I paid $117 (with tax), and for that price, they simply cannot be beat. Period. Since the price has dropped over the past couple of months, I might guess that Anker is planning an updated offering in the $150-$200 range. If that were to happen, I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade, if they really were able to improve on these already outstanding earbuds. If sound quality is important to you, as it is to me, these are a fantastic bargain for under $200. If call quality is most important to you, then you may want to look elsewhere. Again, not a deal breaker for me, but it could be for you. I would buy these again, in a second. I really like the Liberty 2 Pros by Anker. They do what they are designed to do very well, and that's what matters. ... show more

  • An in-depth review from an AV pro after 6 months and hundreds of hours of listening...
Color: Black
As others have mentioned, the sound quality of these Liberty 2 Pro earbuds is excellent. So good, in fact, that quality here really comes down to personal preference, and that's different for everyone. But Anker even has that covered, and brilliantly. The app allows you to browse through a wide range of EQ curves offered by notable music producers. This covers the subjective opinion issue of sound quality, as you should be able to find a curve that meets your personal taste. If not, the HearID auto-EQ does an impressive job of playing Dr. Audiologist by estimating your actual hearing and adjusting the EQ to compensate for those frequencies we all hear differently. It’s crazy easy and fast to do that, and the app will keep your “HearID” curve on file if you want to dabble in other preset curves or dial in your own manually. It really is astonishing how flexible, simple and powerful they’ve made this. Objectively, these earbuds are fantastic. I’ve used them daily for about 6 months, from my desk to the gym to the woodshop. I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of music and audiobooks. There is absolutely zero distortion, ever. They are loud enough to make me (a drummer and 20-year AV pro) happy well below max volume. Bass is tight, clean and loud. Not overly augmented with factory EQ, which some manufacturers use to impress you in the first 10 seconds, but later you realize it’s just a muddy mess below 200Hz. Not here. You’ll be happy even hours later. Other observations… Sound Isolation: These do not have active noise cancellation, and that was initially a concern for me as I intended to use them in a woodshop with lots of droning noise...fans, vacuums, motors, saw blades, etc. I wanted to reduce my end-of-day ear fatigue by reducing the noise level of the shop while also listening to music and books. After using these for 6 months, I no longer want active noise cancellation. I prefer these. They fit tight and do an excellent job of knocking ambient noise down by maybe 20dB or so. Enough to make it easy to hear my audio, but I can still hear the tools as well. Just...not so loud. It’s perfect for me. Likewise, when out for a run, the outside world is quieted, but not muted. I know when a car is coming up behind me, but it’s not distracting. Fit and Comfort: Anker includes a variety of covers to help make these buds fit snugly. On days when I’ve spent 12+ hours on the woodshop, I have no pain whatsoever from wearing them. It’s easy to forget they’re even there. I do strongly recommend taking the time to try different covers and retainers. The combo I ended up with is different from what I initially thought would work, and I’m glad I took the time to play around with the fit. It went from great to perfect. Controls: This is another area where Anker went the extra mile. Through the app I was able to set up single, double and long-press for the functions that made sense to me. Very easy, very awesome. The button...thank you Anker for locating the button on the TOP and not the side of the earbuds. It’s an easy button to find and hit, and unlike side-facing buttons, you don’t end up shoving the bud into your ear canal trying to just press the dang button. Thank you thank you thank you for that. Wireless Performance: Connection is easy (at least on Android...not sure about iPhone). After the initial pairing, the buds try to start connecting as soon as you pop the case open, so by the time they're in your ears you’re ready to go. If I walk too far from my phone (and it has to be pretty far...the range on these is really good), they reconnect very fast as soon as I’m back in range, with a pleasant little da-ding sound to let you know you’re back online. You can also use either left or right bud solo. I don’t think there’s anything left to improve in this area. It just works. Charging and Storage: Remember when The Matrix came out, and everyone was dying to get one of those Nokia phones with the slip cover thing? That’s what the storage case reminds me of. They could have hinged the case. But no, it slides. It’s just cool. Unnecessary, but cool. The case is very solidly built and feels premium to the touch. And since Anker is also known for their charging and battery products, I guess it’s no surprise that the case will charge the heck out of your buds without being plugged in for...I dunno, a long time. They certainly didn’t skimp on the case battery. When the case does need charging, you have that beautiful USB-C jack, OR Qi wireless charging. I usually just toss it on the wireless charger a few times a week whether it's needed or not. In any event, this works out really well for long-distance travel. I recently drove a U-Haul 2500 miles over 4 days, and although I didn’t use the earbuds the whole time, I did use them a lot and never had to plug the case in. Niiiiice. Credit where credit is due, and Anker is a special company. They are highly attentive and their customer service is outstanding. When I first received my Liberty 2 Pros, I noticed that the right earbud didn’t always take a full charge. A quick message to Anker, and they jumped on it immediately and sent me a whole new pair, with their apologies. Not sure what caused the issue...probably a bum battery cell. This happens to everyone from time to time and is unavoidable with small electronics. I’ve installed $70k digital audio consoles with minor issues like that. The difference is how the manufacturer deals with these rare speed bumps. I will continue to buy Anker because I know that even if there is a rare issue like that, they will make it right so fast your head will spin. Today, my family of 6 has a total of 8 different Anker wireless audio products. We all love them and use them constantly. We no longer buy any other brand of charging products either. These guys are killing it. ... show more
