  • It just takes a little practice
Size: Flexio 590 Pattern Name: Paint Sprayer
I was really nervous about this. I've built and painted/stained a lot of projects but I've never sprayed anything. These are the tricks that I've learned. I don't care what anyone tells you (including the pimple faced twenty-sonething that works in the paint department of Home Depot) thin your paint 20%. Also, use a paint additive (I included a picture of what I used but I think you could ask the pimply faced kid about this.) Another thing is to strain your paint. I strained it once when I was thinned it AND every time I added paint to the paint gun. Lastly, I would suggest you practice. Use a decent size scap piece of the material that you are going to be painting (if possible) and treat it just as if it was your finished project. Sand it, primer it, finish sand, paint it, lightly sand with a buffing pad, another coat of paint, and polyurethane it. You'll learn everything you need to know and you won't risk making a catastrophic mistake on your real project. I included a couple pictures of the home project that I bought this for. Really happy with the way it turned out ... show more

  • Finished spray texture looks real good
Size: Flexio 590 Pattern Name: Paint Sprayer
Easy to fill spray bottle. Small nozzle with clog just need to wipe it off every once in awhile while using the spray gun. Finished product looks great.no need for the plastic bags that go into the paint holder. Keep your paint area free of dust particles.

  • For the price it's great ... but
Size: Flexio 590 Pattern Name: Paint Sprayer
I own a home and I'm a DIY'er. For me these is a pretty good product. It worked well and the spray pattern is pretty even. Took some time fiddling around with it and it got clogged pretty good one time but overall it's easier and faster than painting by hand. Especially on large projects like walls and fences. Really be carful with old paint. That's what clogged mine up. There was some semi dried skim that i didn't notice. I had to take the entire sprayer apart and clean it really well. Took almost an hour to get it going again. When I used new or totally liquid paint it never got clogged. Must clean it super well at the end of each usage or your gonna regret it next time. ... show more

  • AWESOME GUN! -- plus found fixes to common problems!
Size: Flexio 590 Pattern Name: Paint Sprayer
I don't typically write reviews, but I was relatively skeptical about this before I purchased, so I had to leave some feedback. In short, thing is awesome. I had some major issues the first time working with it, many similar to what others are commenting about, but I'll leave some tips later down in the review I solved those. I purchased a 1959 home that I've been completely gutting, so I picked up this gun to do new paint on everything in the house -- doors, trim, shelves, walls -- you name it. The only thing I DIDN'T do with this gun is the ceilings. I opted to have those rolled out instead. But for everything else, it's been awesome. I'm about 90% done with the project and I would do it all over again with this gun if I had the change. Absolutely recommended. I had a lot of problems the first time using the gun, but most of them seemed to be due to not cleaning the tip properly during use. So here are some things I wish I knew before I got started: 1. HUGELY IMPORTANT -- MAKE SURE to keep the tip clear of any debris!!! The manual tells you this, BUT it doesn't really explain HOW. When I first started using the gun, I was making sure to wipe the tip with a damp rag, as suggested. I did this quite often. No problem. What I DIDN'T realize, is that it's not the actual tip that matters the most. In fact, it's the little gap/ring SURROUNDING the tip that seems to cause troubles. If you look at the tip, you'll see that there's a little gap all the way around it. If you swipe paint off the actual tip, sometimes the little drying pieces of paint will get stuck in this gap. This is what caused the most trouble for me. Even the tiniest piece that gets stuck in there will cause the to spit and splatter. TRUST me. Keep that thing free of ALL debris. What I did was just kept a little tooth brush type brush on me at all times and would brush it out here and there to make sure it was clean. Most of the time, it would get a piece in there after wiping the actual tip clean. To avoid this, just pinch the tip and pull away from it to clean it, instead of swiping left or right. 2. Some people mentioned that the gun would spew/leak from the tip without pulling the trigger. I actually experienced this once, too. I realized that it was simply due to a piece of debris stuck somewhere in the tip housing that wasn't allowing it to close all the way. Simple fix. Just remove the paint bucket and then disassemble the tip and give everything a quick brush or rinse. That should do the trick. Make sure the black ring that holds the tip assembly to the gun is firmly tightened as well. 3. Make sure to read the manual and match the power setting on the gun to the type of material you're using. I was using mostly latex, and was having the best luck around 6 on the power setting. No more than 6, no less than 5. I was using it at a lower power setting at first because the 5/6 seemed way too high, but it's just about learning how to control the spray and keep it moving along the project. ... show more
