  • Amazing! 7 YEARS OLD already and Still strong!
Size: 8 Sheet
I have had this shredder for years! Ordered it in 2016 and it is Still going strong. I have never shredded more than 10 pages at the same time but every year I go through old paperwork and shred anything older than 7 years. I have to say, I cannot attest to any changes or “improvements” recently made to the product but as I’m sitting here shredding another year of paperwork, I thought I’d leave a quick review as to how much I love this shredder. It’s small and compact and fits perfectly under my computer station and the handle on top helps me pop it off easy, and the dust build up? I use Compressed air for the unit on top and the container to empty the shredded paper, well it’s super light weight to flip into a bag and if ever it gets backed up a little, I love the reverse option and then I simply wash the container in my bathroom tub and then Lysol and wipe, air dry and then it’s Ready for More! LOVE LOVE LOVE. Haven’t had any issues yet! ... show more

  • Still a great shredder- compact, efficient and just WORKS
Size: 8 Sheet
This is the 2nd of theses shredders that I’ve purchased over the years. This one is helping a family member shred boxes and boxes and boxes of old papers, receipts, and various plastic cards and is working HARD! So far it’s up to the challenge- have been able to shed consistently for a long period of time before the shredder needed to take a cool down break. It was kind of annoying at the time, but understand this safety feature. The shredder itself isn’t very heavy and the plastic bin is a great size, fits a ton. I can shed an average of 8 sheets at a time and have also shredded multiple credit cards, store shopping cards and gift cards. I wish it could also fit CDs but those are easy enough to get rid of with a hammer. The grinding noise is certainly bearable as well and love the auto shred feature. Just put the paper in and it will automatically shed away. No more fumbling switches on and off. The actual paper shredding size isn’t the smallest I’ve seen, but you can rest assured that someone isn’t going to tape your stuff back together. If you’re looking for an affordable and reliable work horse, look no further! ... show more

  • Shredded cardboard.
Size: 24 Sheet
I have been looking for a reasonably priced household shredder to compost the boxes that are delivered to our house. I am a bit surprised that this is not a more common need resulting in the production of something for this purpose. The only “cardboard” shredders I could find were large and expensive. The reasonably priced household units are all designated for paper, credit cards and cd/dvd’s (shredding cd/dvd’s? Is this still a thing?) Anyways, I decided to take a chance with this Amazon basics 24 sheet unit and was pleasantly surprised and relieved at how well it did with a pile of cardboard I had. I did remove the tape and also had to cut the cardboard into thinner sections so it would feed into the unit but after about an hour and several full bins all the cardboard was shredded into small pieces and mixed well with my greens for composting. Admittedly, I have not had the unit long so I guess the test of time is a better measure of its quality but for now I am happy to have a method of processing the delivery boxes for another use. ... show more

  • Works for home use, but NOT eight sheets!
Size: 8 Sheet
This is my second purchase of this item. I bought it in 2017 and it worked until 2023 when it died. Totally dead. I was in the middle of cleaning out boxes of paper. My dining room table is coverer with paper, my dining room floor has boxes and boxes of paper, plus several file holders - one for taxes, one for medical, one for financial records, etc. I use hanging folders...Anyway, that's off the subject. The old one died. It got jammed a lot, but it did work better than the ones I've bought over the years from office supply stores. And this old ones weren't cross-cut. I ordered another just like the dead one because it had next day Prime delivery. It is lighter weight than the first one, and more expensive, things you expect now as inflation has given everyone a good reason to charge more. I've used it a few weeks. As it's a lightweight home unit, I only use it 10-15 minutes at a time and let it cool. One improvement has been a red light that tells you to let it cool for 30 minutes. I've never tripped that feature. One page at a time is fine. Two goes more slowly, and so on. Don't even think about its claimed eight pages. It will jam. Getting it unjammed is a bit of trouble. There are no maintenance instructions. The old one said to put vegetable oil on the blades. I haven't tried that yet, but I did it with the old one. Put something under the head that oil won't soak through, lay the head blades up on it, and drip a small amount of oil along the center area where the paper comes through. It's messy. I've been warned not to use any kind of grease or other products for mechanical things, even though this is mechanical. Corn, peanut, sesame or olive (I guess) oils are acceptable. Just don't try 8 sheets or you'll be tugging and tearing and your job will be interrupted. I have tons of old records of bank accounts that have been closed for years - and the bank has been sucked up by another institution, BUT: it hasn't been that long since financial institutions print the account holder's social security number right on the statement. If you still have that account, you'll be at great risk by tossing these statements into the recycling bin. I don't bother to shred old bills, expired warranties, correspondence (pre-email). This is an overwhelming task - decluttering files -- but it needs to be done. After this I will tackle the other piles of stuff that needs to be trashed, donated or recycled. I wish I knew how to recycle the old one, as it's got all that metal and motor parts. If anyone has read this far and knows, please tell me. ... show more

  • Good product for the money
Size: 8 Sheet
This is a little monster of a shredder, powerful. Granted I am upgrading from a 10 year old Staples shredder with the pull out drawer. It is loud, but no more than any other shredder or a blender. It shreds 2-4, 8x 11.5 pages easily, but it got stuck with 6 or more pages stacked together. The reverse feature worked to eliminate jammed paper with a little back and forth. It easily shredded a plastic gift card and had no problems with staples. What I really love is that the motor sits on top of a plastic container, like a small office garbage can which did not tip over at all while using the machine. The motor easily lifts off by grabbing a handle, and the shredded papers can be discarded in recycling bin or garbage -super easy and little or no mess! ... show more
