Description

The iSonic P4830 Commercial Ultrasonic Cleaner with 3.2-quart/3.0-liter tank uses sound waves to penetrate into crevices and cavities to remove particulates from an object. The timer controls the cleaning time and can be set to between 1 and 30 minutes. The solution can be heated to five temperature settings for varied applications. For industries that have strict regulations (such as the medical industry), the solution timer keeps track of the amount of time that has passed since the solution was last changed. The three-color LED screen displays the timer countdown, the temperature setting in both Fahrenheit and Celsius, and the solution timer. The degas function removes air bubbles and dissolved air from newly changed cleaning solution to maximize ultrasonic performance and shorten the required cleaning time. The internal fan keeps the unit's electronic components cool, and the overheating protector shuts the machine off for 30 minutes if it's in danger of overheating.SpecificationsUltrasonic frequency36,000 HzTimer1 to 30 minutesTemperature settings104, 113, 122, 131, and 140 degrees F/40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 degrees CPower voltage110-120VPower usage135WTank capacity3.2 Qt./3.0 LTank dimensions (oval)6.9 x 3.1 x 9.8 inches/17.4 x 7.8 x 25.0 cm (H x W x D)Overall dimensions9.1 x 7.6 x 14.7 inches/ 23.2 x 19.4 x 37.7 cm (H x W x D)H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. iSonic Inc. manufactures ultrasonic cleaners for residential and commercial use. • The industrial design of this thing is really, really poor
Style: P4830
It works OK, but man, the industrial design is terrible. Where do I begin? 1. The LID. Who came up with this dumb design? The lid goes over the base like a hat. It's not hinged; you have to take it off and set it somewhere. But that's only half the problem. The real bug is that water condenses on the under-side, and all that condensate spills off when you lift the lid. You have to do this awkward lift/twist motion to try to get most of the water to land back in the tank. If you're lucky, 80% of it will. That still leaves a wet mess. They could have easily hinged the lid and designed the base to channel the condensate back into the tank. Why didn't they? 2. The temperature sensor. There are four LEDs that purport to report the tank temperature: green, yellow, red, and ...red. Yeah, two red LEDs: one wide, and another narrow one right next to it. (Huh?!?) But that's not the best part. The best part is how the instructions describe the LEDs. Green means the temperature is 0 to 30% of the set temperature. Think about that one for a moment. What is 0% of a set temperature? Absolute zero? Zero Fahrenheit? Centigrade? For that matter, what's 30%? Or any percent? It's meaningless. It really is meaningless, because no matter what the tank temperature is, or what the temperature setting is, the green and yellow LEDs are ALWAYS ON. They mean nothing. You have two red LEDs that change and they seem pretty random, really. When you turn on the heater, an indicator indicates it is on. You just have to keep watching the heater indicator and wait until it goes out. Or get a real thermometer and stick it in the tank. 3. The temperature control. It can't maintain a temperature. When you set the temperature and turn on the heater, it will run the heater until it thinks it has reached the set temperature, then the heater shuts off and the tank starts cooling down. Come back an hour later, and the tank is cold again. Start over. This is not a set-and-forget appliance. It's a set-and babysit appliance. 4. The drain. There's a drain at the bottom with a valve (that's the round knob in the lower-right corner), which is nice. What would be even nicer would be a valve that drains all the water out without getting vapor lock. I don't know what the drain path is inside the unit, but there must be a loop upward in there, because if the drain sucks a little bit of air, the water will stop flowing out. I've had it sit there with the valve open and half a tank of water and zero flow. You have to add enough water to push the air bubble out, or sometimes you can get it flowing again by pumping at the opening with your thumb, using your thumb as a miniature toilet plunger. Here's the best technique I found: forget using the hose that comes with it, that makes it worse. Just perch the thing over your sink and open the valve. Once it gets down to about 1/4 full, tilt the tank to maximize the water level over the drain. If you're lucky, it will almost empty before vapor-locking, and you can sop up the rest with a sponge. I could go on about the fact that it's under-powered for the tank size, how the "stainless steel" started corroding after just a couple of uses (not all stainless steels are made alike, this stuff is obviously bargain-basement), how difficult it is to read the min/max water level markers in the tank, and how the basket covers those up (would it have been that hard to design the basket with min/max markings?). It's just a cheap, poorly designed unit. But it does an OK job of cleaning, so I gave it two stars instead of one. ... show more

  • Had to Return Item
Style: P4830
My ultrasonic came without a power cord. Additionally, one of the basket handles was broken off. The unit had some evidence of having been used and returned. I cannot rate the product on its function. I have returned and ordered another of the same make/model. I will update the review if the new unit arrives complete and in better condition than the one I returned. ***UPDATE*** The second ultrasonic unit came today in brand new condition. The unit arrived with both a power supply cord and a drain hose. As much as I can tell, the unit is working as described. I do wish there was a screen on the drain hole in the ultrasonic reservoir to prevent small parts from accidentally passing into the drain. ... show more

  • Great Machine!
Style: P4830
It came as described and is working well. I really like that it has a timer that is up to 30 minutes so I don't have to keep going back and starting the timer again. The one I had previously had a timer that only went up to 8 minutes. This one only cost a few dollars more and has many more features. My only concern is the user manual that came with it is blurry. Looks like it was double printed so I can't read many of the pages. I have contacted isonic to try and get a manual and waiting on a reply. ... show more

  • Ultrasonic
Style: P4830
UPDATE It's fair to be honest, takes a long time to heat up so start early. I do like that it has a drain makes empting it easier than dumping it. It may be better for jewelry and things. So far I like it. I really like the fact that is has a drain and it's easy to use. I purchased it to clean my guns and so far I am pretty impressed with how it works. It is really quite and after reading about some others I am glad I purchased this one. ... show more

  • Saved my day
Style: PB4830A
The original basket in my sonic cleaner became brittle and broke. This saved me from buying a new machine. Fits perfect, price was right and hopefully it will last longer than the original.

  • works great
Style: P4830
Seems to work fine and no problems. It is a little noisy with the top off. Somethings we have to clean in a jar to keep the solution separate with the lid off. Thats the only time it's noisy. With the lid on, it's nice and quiet. That is probably something that can't be helped.
