I prefer mobile 1 over other brands because it tastes better and keeps me regular. That, and because I've been using it in my personal european cars and customers vehicles. I've never had oil related failures of turbochargers or other internal components when religiously running this oil. Even the Audi 2.0t FSI cam followers last longer with this oil. I'm not saying that this oil is the best, because I don't know that it is. However, I do know that it is very good and definitely worth the money. My local auto parts store sells the stuff for $9 per quart. However, me being a tight wad, I put on sunglasses and a hat, keep my head down, and go into W**-M**t and buy it for $5 per quart. Heck, now that Amazon has it, I'll never have to do the walk of shame again. ... show more

I've been using this oil for over two years now, first time I've seen it on Amazon for less than it's at Wally World and it gets shipped to my front door! How good is the oil? Consider this, I do oil analysis on a fairly regular basis through Blackstone labs and I've tested this at 5K and 10K miles (it was changed out at 10K). At both test intervals, it still had remaining life, estimated at 7K at the 10K change out which would make it 17,000 mile oil. I don't go past 10K because I'm old school and remember 3/3000 as the gold standard for oil changes. A couple of caveats - I changed the filter (Wix) at the 5K mark, it's inexpensive insurance to me. I do not buy into the Mobil 1 filter being required and/or superior to a good quality filter from another manufacturer. Yes, I know you're supposed to use a Mobil 1 filter to get "full protection" but if you have an oil related failure at say, 12,000 miles, good luck collecting regardless of which filter you used as they will surely claim you were using it in the harshest of conditions and should have followed a severe duty change cycle. Could be wrong but like most guarantees, there are more reasons listed to not pay then there are to pay a claim. I get back to trusting the extensive oil analysis that Blackstone does. They have no skin in the oil side of the game and so have every reason to be honest and upfront with your particular results. And, in the interest of full disclosure, when I used "regular" Mobil 1 synthetic in the same car (2012 Honda Accord BTW) and sent the analysis in at 7,500 miles, it came back as suggesting extending the interval by 5,000 miles so even the base synthetic is an exceptional oil. Were this not priced so competitively on Amazon right now, I would have stuck with the regular but for essentially the same price, go extended. I will be using it in my 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6 with 120,000 miles on it next and will probably go the full 15K, with testing, in that vehicle as I have a fourteen year test history for comparison purposes, starting with regular dino oil, switching over to Mobil 1 at around 30,000 miles and now going to the extended. I only use Toyota OEM filters and will change it out halfway through the cycle with testing then and at the end. ... show more

Although this is what they call the European Formula, I started using it in my 2014 Infiniti Q60S and my older Nissan 350Z, which has around 130K miles on it. In the Z, it keeps the oil pressure higher when the engine is warmed up fully and also keeps the pressure down a little as compared to 10W30 when the engine is cold. The engine seems quieter as well. I don't really know the limits of how long the oil would last since I do not subscribe to the long 7500 or more mile oil change intervals. The Z says to change at 3,600 and the Infiniti says no more then 5K. I change both around 3 - 3.5K miles and use Mobil 1 filters. Let's be real, no matter what oil you use, it still suspends byproducts of combustion and those translate into both sludge and varnish build up when using long oil change intervals. The Nissan V6 is very unforgiving with respect to any sludge or varnish build up and using this oil as I have in the 350Z for 130K miles , when I removed the valve covers to change the gaskets, everything under there was shiny silver without the usual brown varnish colour. I find this oil stays cleaner for me then other brands when I change it. Also, the engines are quieter. ... show more

Many recent model cars, 2017 and up, specify 0-20 multiviscosity oil. The manufacturers are using this very thin oil to squeeze out a few tenths more MPG. It's an old trick - the NASCAR boys have been doing it for decades. Thin oil, less work for the oil pump, a few more HP. But they have a new engine for every race. I don't think you want to put a new engine in your Honda. Ever. From an engineer's viewpoint, the extra light viscosity oil is measurably inferior in lubrication quality. Generally Honda doesn't care, they want the few tenths of an MPG instead of better lubrication. They figure most people buy cars based on monthly payments and get rid of the car long before the engine wears out anyway. I don't accept or agree with all of that stuff. Empty the trunk. Carpool. Go on a diet and lose 50 pounds. Stop driving the car for unnecessary trips. Whatever. Using crap oil in my engine has a big red flashing NO sign all over it. So I use this instead.
