This is the only oil I use in my 2004 dodge ram 1500. It wants 5w-30 in the manual so that is what I buy. I live in North Dakota, so it is used in my pickup during very harsh winters. I change it at 5000 miles now that I drive a lot and it doesn't look terrible when I drain it. I used to do 3000 when I would only put on 3k a year. In my opinion every 5k or at least once a year is sufficient. Don't waste your money on the yearly protection crap. I've run this since 100k and I have 140k now. The "hemi tick" isnt as noticeable with this oil as compared to others I have heard. I just changed it after towing around my boat all summer and then taking the girlfriend on a 2200 mile trip to glacier NP and it looked pretty good, not black, but a used oil brown. I only use Mobil 1 oil in my motorcycle as well, but a v-twin formulation. I also only use wix filters on both. I can only attest to the wix because I have cut open several of mine and I like the construction, much heavier and with metal end caps. Ac delco are similar, fram has cardboard end caps. Mobil 1 and a wix filter it is for me. This is about the same price as the local walmart but saves me having to walk into walmart... It's been a cold winter this year. No block heater and parked in the driveway at -25F and it still hasn't blown up yet in the morning! I took a photo on my desk today to show how much of this I use. I just used it on my sisters 2005 Buick Lacrosse 3.8L, 7 quarts for my pickup, and some more for my snowblower. It is really great oil. ... show more

Outstanding synthetic oil at a very reasonable price. Amazon is cheaper than wally world on Mobile 1 oil. There may be a better motor oil than Mobile 1, but I have not yet found it. The price of Mobile 1 oil is now competitive with regular motor oil. Your engine will last much longer with Mobile 1. Yes I know many of you swear by Amsoil, but Amsoil is much more expensive. My experience with a lifetime of using Mobile 1 motor oil is that your car will die of sun damaged paint and sun damaged interior before the engine wears out if you use Mobile 1 synthetic oil. Now that Mobile 1 and regular (from crude) oil are the same price (give or take a few pennies). Using Mobile 1 synthetic oil is a no brainer. ... show more

No longer true synthetic oil. Won't last a year anymore. Must. change every six months. If you want true synthetic now you have to buy the extended mileage version that costs more. They changed the formula a while back. High mileage formula didn't really soften my oil pan gasket to make any difference. Was losing over a quart a month and used this for three oil changes and didn't really do anything. When I finally replaced the gasket it was hard and brittle for the most part. ... show more

After being a conventional oil guy for 50 years I decided to see for myself if Synthetic oils outperform conventional oils. Well after a careful study changing just the oil used for over 20K miles (4 oil changes) I'm convinced there is a significant difference in performance that you can hear, feel and recognize in overall performance. And after trying a half dozen different Brands I've settled on Mobil One as the best value/performance choice for me. Bottom Line for a longer lasting better running motor: Synthetic Oils are the Best. Just use one that suits your needs best. This one is a good choice for a High Mileage motor -- My car has over 260K on it and runs like new with this stuff in the crankcase. ... show more

It's oil, and it's Mobil 1. And it's cheap on Amazon. My old as dirt 270k mile Chevy truck loves it. Changing every 8 months to a year on this old beast because I never hit 3000 miles in a year, it seems to do great. The previous owner of the truck had to put in a rebuilt engine at 200k miles. At 260k miles ish, he over heated it and blew a head gasket. That is when I acquired the truck. He said he had been using Mobil 1 High Mileage. I didn't think anything of it. But he had really taken care of this truck, so it seemed he cared about the oil he was using. Anyway, when I pulled the heads off the engine, I looked at the cylinder walls, and could still see the cross hatch pattern that is cut when engines are rebuilt. At this point, the rebuilt engine had over 60k miles on it, yest still looked new inside. That was good enough for me. After rebuilding the heads, and replacing all the necessary stuff involved with that, I decided to stick with the same oil he had been using. Without a lab at my disposal, I can't speak to its effectiveness over other oils, but my old 5.7 likes it, and I don't need to add any between oil changes due to oil burning. ... show more

I worked for Pennzoil as a driver sales rep. It was the best in the world when it was 100% pure Pennsylvania crude. That ended years ago. Since that time I switched to Mobil 1, now what I think is the best. Mobil oil company was the first synthetic oil made, they know what they are doing. I always purchase vehicles, last 35 years, with over 60k miles on them, when first purchased they all get Mobil 1 and stay with it. Never had any engine problems. I also use O w 20 in Cleveland winters. I change my oil and filter twice a year in every vehicle, November for winter, May for summer regardless of miles driven. ... show more

At about 50,000 miles, I noticed that my 2016 Subaru Forester consumed about a quart of oil every 3500 miles. This car has an FB25 3rd-generation boxer engine, which was designed to increase fuel economy in order to comply with new federal regulations. For example, they reduced the oil weight to 0w20 and increased the gaps between the engine components to reduce friction. Unfortunately, this also allows more oil to seep into the combustion chamber, which has negative consequences for the spark plugs, pistons, cylinders, valves, oxygen sensor, and catalytic converter. After switching to the “high mileage” version of Mobile 1, the oil consumption dropped significantly. At 85,000 miles, the engine consumes about a quart of oil every 7500 miles. ... show more
