  • Best alternative to using your home’s inefficient heater
Overall, this is a much better space heater than many of the ones out there. My husband and I just moved to a much older apartment where it costs an arm and a leg to run the electric ceiling heat so we had to get a space heater. We bought this one on recommendation of our friends who live in the same complex and use this in their apartment. While we were waiting for this one to come in the mail, we got a Honeywell heater from Walmart that claimed to heat up a “large room”. It did no such thing. It just blew hot air onto whoever was sitting in front of it on the ground. Wasn’t even tall enough to hit you on the couch. This heater is much, much better. It provides steady and constant heat that reaches a far bigger space and doesn’t just provide heat for one specific spot or right next to it. We have this on the entire time we are home and we put it on 85° and eco mode to keep our bill down. I took away 1 Star because even on Hi mode, it doesn’t get as warm as I would like it to get but that is my personal preference. Without the heater, our apartment is noticeably uncomfortable in temperature and this heater makes it much more comfortable. At night before bed we will put the heater in our room for about 20 minutes then turn it off and close the door to trap the heat and it stays warm most all of the night. I think a lot of how this heater will work for you depends on your home’s insulation, which is something ours definitely lacks. It is a quality heater that, in my opinion, is the best one out there for a constant, steady raise in normal room temperature. ... show more

I've had this heater for a couple of months now and it really does work well until this morning. I began to smell something funny and realized that the plug melted and the outlet with it. Glad I caught it before it started a fire. Be careful people.

  • Ups and downs with this one but overall worth it
A lot of the reviews are right on here but greatly over exaggerated. This one came with all 4 nuts, so really easy to assemble and get going. The remote is kinda pointless for me personally. It heats my home office pretty quickly with the door closed and the eco mode does work. We keep it at 70 (probably still too high) and the room feels like summer all day. Like someone mentioned before, if you have a ceiling fan, flip the reverse switch. It will suck the heat up and redistribute it evenly. This is better than your face melting off. That being said, Yeah it does snap and pop in the first 20 minutes when the oil is heating. And unless I stick my nose right up to the grill, I don't smell anything noticable. The only downside I found the other day is that since I have so many office electronics running in the room from working at home, this wonderful heater was the straw that broke the camel's back. My breaker tripped from overloading the line. It's not like I have 10 things plugged into one socket. They just all happen to be tied to the one circuit breaker. It's not a total deal breaker, just something to be aware of with any high initial power drawing device. In terms of electric bill costs, it seems to add $1+ a day for the 8 hours I use it so far. But I haven't been very efficient with my use of it. Heating time varies, (less than 40 minutes for me) but it works best in a room with a closed door. ... show more

  • Works very well in winter.
Bought this exact model for my daughter’s small apartment years ago and she loves it. I bought myself one this winter because my new home’s forced air heat didn’t seem to warm the lower level very well. I use this heater downstairs only in the great room and it does a fine job of taking the chill off. Once it’s going well and is heating at maximum capacity I turn on the ceiling fan at its lowest speed (with the blade direction set for winter) and it distributes the heat evenly throughout the great room. It dries the air like any other heat source (I’ve tested the humidity levels in the space throughout the winter). Maybe not as bad as with forced air heat alone, but it does contribute to drying the air. It’s quiet (it makes a couple little popping noises as it cools, but nothing major), is easy to move and easy to use. I’ve never once used the included remote, it’s so easy to use without it. ... show more

  • Best radiator heater I've ever bought...
I've always been a fan of radiator heaters in general. They're quiet, heat up a room every bit as well as one with a fan, and you're not paying for the extra electricity to run the fan at the same time! Unlike a lot of people, I can't stand the sound of a fan motor running continuously. It's just irritating. So, I've bought probably around 10 radiator heaters over the years, and while I have liked them all, I really like this one best. It's the first one that I've owned that had a digital type thermostat where you can set an exact temperature (albeit with 5 degree increments 65-85). It keeps my bedroom at exactly the temperature that I want, and I can use the remote to turn it on in the morning without getting out of bed. The other heaters I bought had a dial to turn, and it was hit and miss whether you got the sweet spot for the temperature you wanted. It was always either a little to warm or a little too cold. I didn't do a review for a couple of months to see if the heater seemed durable, but it's still working great. I highly recommend this model and plan on buying a second one for another room. ... show more
