  • Great first drone and great service from Parrot!
Color: Red Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I received the Bebop as a gift. My first drone. It flies? Neat! It's got a camera? Cool! Flew it a few times while getting used to it (read: crashed it). No biggie, there's a bit of a learning curve here, and I should have proceeded a bit more cautiously. That said I managed to break a few pieces that should be relatively easy to replace. I called their Support line and spoke with a very friendly person who, after hearing my desire to purchase certain parts for my new favorite gizmo, informed me that some of the parts that I need have not been available for an extended period. She then offered to replace the unit entirely! I even told her that in full disclosure, the drone I would be sending back is broken. They still insisted I send it back for a new replacement! As to the customer support at Parrot, I simply can not compliment them highly enough. For the drone itself. The video quality is great if your making home movies. 1080p isn't bad. There is no mechanical gimbal as it has been replaced by a clever software set up that stabilizes the image very well. I haven't really pushed the boundaries in terms of flight ranges but it works fine for around the park or a big back yard or what have you. I don't anticipate many of these will be flying kilometers away. It's easy enough to fly with the free app provided...once you get used to it. Most of all, the thing is just fun. Would I consider this "professional" quality. No, it simply doesn't have the hardware for that job. Is it just a toy quadcopter. No. It is a particular sophisticated camera drone with GPS capability and what I assume is highly developed software stabilization of the craft as well as the video. I'm impressed with its performance to the degree that I'm writing a review on it. I'm no expert, but I know I enjoy this thing and plan to use it often. I expect this is a great, inexpensive, first drone for someone, and I highly recommend it for that role. Longer lasting batteries would have been nice. ... show more

  • Camera stopped working. Cheap toy.
Color: Red Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I can confirm the following: (A) Legs fall off within 5 minutes (B) Build quality is very poor. (C) Drifts around like an actual drunk parrot. (D) Poor camera setup. Let me elaborate & hit some of the more uncommon problems. This drone is so cheaply made you're going to instantly question the purchase. The battery stands out the most in this department. Instead of making a nice fitting pack that slides in & locks, you get a cheap under powered pack that has to be held in place with a piece of Velcro. I was ok with this before I seen the actual product & realized this was just Parrot being cheap. Also the battery connector is a major pain to deal with & just isn't integrated well. I had my Bebop over a week a flew it 2-4 times a day. I crashed it zero times, yet managed to scuff up the lens on one of the first flights with the bumpers on. The camera sticks out like a sore thumb just begging to be damaged. Didn't affect the video quality much & I had decided to get a new nose kit since in fact the drone is fun to fly. Before I could order a replacement the camera totally malfunctioned. I turned it on one day & all the video was opaque, out of focus. Nothing remedied this. I contacted Parrot who took several days to reply & blamed it on the lighting. Fortunately I already had an RMA at that point I was wise to their customer service before they began. Also worth noting the camera isn't that great to begin with & costs $160 to replace. I continued to fly without it so I could get a good feel for the machine. Some other points: Nose piece color was peeling & fading fast near the caution hot on the sides. I used an nVidia shield as a controller (lots of fun) & kept the thing in sight so I can't speak much to the range however battery life sucks and the app is lackluster at best. By the time you've hooked it to the wifi & got it configured you've already drained several percent of the battery. Lack of lighting was also an issue for me since I like to fly at night. My biggest gripe however is the actual handling of the drone. Best described as exhilarating & terrifying at the same time you never know what the Bebop is going to do. It seemed to have a lot of problems with uneven terrain i.e. taking off & landing on a elevated deck. I also found it to do lousy in slow to moderate wind speeds despite all the stabilization. Cheap toys can be affordable & fun, expensive malfunctioning toys not so much. I don't recommend this drone for these reasons. If you're starting out & bit by the drone bug, buy an X5C-1. Great indoors & out, $50 toy held it own against a $500 Bebop & still going strong. ... show more

Color: Red Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
There have been a lot of people writing reviews about this saying that it is unstable and it breaks and it is crap. When I was thinking about buying one those reviews discouraged me from wanting to get me, but I took a leap and figured if it does half of what it says that it should then it would be worth it, especially when you consider that a competitors drone like the dji phantom or something like that either does not have a camera or does and is twice the price or more. I am very happy that I did not listen to the 1 star reviews because I got one and I love it so much more than I thought possible. It can do everything that parrot says that it does! It is rock solid! I tried it with just my tablet and it was not very user friendly actually it difficult to control with just the touch screen. I found this online and ordered it http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUG3JPU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It made all the difference. Native android controller support makes it super easy to just you really just have to pair it with your phone or tablet and then it works great no programming or anything. It is $400 more for the sky controller but after I got this I would not recommend getting that at all. This is way more compact and offers the same amazing control. All in all I love it at does exactly what they say and it is sturdy (I have hit trees and stuff and it just starts up again with no damage at all) DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY ($570 with the controller and tax) GET ONE YOU WONT REGRET IT! ... show more
