  • issues like this aren’t covered under the manufacturer’s warranty
After one month the front plate glass (panel) separating from the frame. I contacted TCL (Roku). This is the answer; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Ms. Laugerude, Thank you for reaching TCL Email support! We do apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Unfortunately, issues like this aren’t covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. I’m sorry we weren’t able to fix your damaged TV. You do have the option of taking your TV to any local repair shop and ask if they could repair your TV. However, we do not recommend panel repairs. Reason being the panel of most TVs costs approximately 95% of the original price of the TV. Thank you for choosing TCL, Best Regards, Alex Tapiador | Subject Matter Expert - NA TCL North America ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have they Warranty front of me; Limited Warranty Roku warrants the player hardware against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase ("Warranty Period") if used in accordance with the documentation provided with the player. If Roku determines that the player’s hardware is defective during the Warranty Period, Roku’s sole obligation, and your exclusive remedy, will be to either repair or replace the unit with either a new or rebuilt player, at its option.* ... show more

  • Will not stream via wifi (UPDATE: just a total piece of crap.)
TV does not stream shows over wifi despite high speed connection. Constantly freezes. Spoke to customer support at TCL three times. They were very nice but they were unable to determine the reason for the problem and were not been able to help. In short: the price point on this TV is lovely, but that point is moot if the TV doesn't meet my most basic TV needs. UPDATE October 4, 2017: A bit of mea culpa... I meant to return this shortly after buying it, and didn't get around to doing so in time. Here's the scoop... The TV obviously had issues from the beginning, where it would freeze and the only solution was unplugging it, plugging it back in, and restarting it. I called support multiple times and they did extensive troubleshooting, and each time I was told the issue was the distance the TV was from the wi-fi router. It was true that I was one story away from the router, but since the router had a booster and no other electronics had any issues anywhere in the home, I found this fishy. Regardless, it made the TV virtually unusable in my old home. Since I was moving soon (and never got around to sending it back), I figured I'd wait and see what happened when it was set up right next to the wi-fi router in the living room of the new home. The problem persisted in the new home, although less frequently. It would occur when a show or movie first started (typically shortly after I'd settled down with snacks, blanket, and cat, thus forcing me to get back up and do the whole settling in process over again), but then wouldn't happen again during the movie or show. (One other complaint: The length of the start up time required for this thing is ridiculous. Typically I would turn it on, then go change into pajamas, use the bathroom, grab my beverage of choice and snackies, and settle in, and would still have to wait another minute or two for the home page to load up. Thus, having to restart is no small task. I would often spend a good half hour just waiting to be able to watch something. Also, it will shut down if it is on for a bit and not used, thus requiring one start the whole process over again, too.) A month or so ago, about nine months after purchase, the glitch started happening with greater and greater frequency. Now, after owning the TV only ten months, the TV is unusable and I will need to find a way to dispose of it. And, of course, invest in another TV. Please, save yourself. Do not bother buying this thing. Spend a little more on a TV from a reputable brand instead. The money will be well worth it! ... show more

  • Awesome TV, Great Price Point
Can't beat this baby for the price. I hung it myself in my spare garage/man cave/spare office so I could watch TV where there was no cable connection. For the record I used the following parts for a clean install: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014MBZ6GA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NKZ5R28/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Using the Time Warner Cable app, I essentially have the same TVs I have inside the house that are hardwired, with no extra box rental fees. The built-in Roku works well, and I can't speak to any wifi difficulties. I have a Ubiquiti wifi network are our place, and even though I put a wireless Unifi AP (repeater) in the same room, the TV had no issues picking up and using the signal via 2.4GHz from an AP at the other side of the house. I'm happy with my purchase. You will need to adjust your color/brightness settings to your liking, but once that's done you'll really like it! ... show more

  • Crap, don't buy.
When the tv was 7 months old one of the ports stopped working. Shortly after that white spots appeared on the screen. The tv shuts down on its own and appears dead. Wait a couple of hours and it will work again. Totally unacceptable.
