This wire works well and meets the advertised specs. It strips well and appears to be proper 20 gauge. It is high quality tinned copper. Some of the reviewers seem to be confused by the color - tinned copper is silver, and the core is copper colored. If this were aluminum wire, it would solder very poorly, the color would be dull silver not shiny, and would be much lighter. I test soldered some of this wire and it wicks the solder properly as only tinned copper will. ... show more

Very misleading product. Using our wire gauge chart, this wire is in-between a 24ga - 26ga. So, is this too good of a deal? Nope, its OVERPRICED at $7.00 for 66 ft You get what you pay for. Also, wire is made from Aluminum. Not Copper or Copper Plated wire. Furthermore, they purposely removed ALL printing form wire jacket. This is something that needs to be shown to make sure we know the limits of this wire capability. ... show more

Bought this roll of wire for installing 8 LED lights on my Bass Tracker boat because I wanted them to be separate from the factory wiring harness. The wire was easy to string in all the nooks and cranny's and seems to handle the low amp draw of the lights. I put a string of four LED strip lights on one circuit, and two set's of two 18 watt LED spot lights on another toggle. After running all the wire I still had about 8 feet of wire left over. Make sure you use a fuse between the electrical source and lights that is low enough to protect the wire and lights. I used 5 amp fuses for my application. ... show more

I ordered wire to install rock lights on my truck. I started on the passenger side rear worked my way around the truck to the driver side rear, included in my install was a switch to turn lights off when illegal, I hard wired the entire set of lights to my clearance lights so when the clearance lights are on the rock lights are on. The wiring is one continuous piece of wire. Very easy to work with the wire, feed it through many factory zip ties and added my own where needed.     • Good and cheap, but questionable gauge

Wire is OK, but not great. The price is certainly good. However, I found the wire difficult to work with as it seemed a bit stiff and was hard to strip. I was working outside in 52 degree temps, but it seemed unusually stiff for that temperature. Also, the wire gauge seemed a little thin - more what I expect from a 22 gauge. The insulation was relatively thick and made the wire feel stiffer, I think. The stiffness gave the wire a 'set' to the form with which it was shipped and didn't want to relax enough to make a neat wiring job. I purchased other similar 20 gauge wire on Amazon that was much easier to work with and its conductor was a little thicker - more in line what I expected from 20 gauge wire. Although the outside dimensions appeared the same between the two brands, the other wire had thinner insulation and was very supple to work with and easy to strip. Gets the job done, but I wouldn't recommend pushing the amperage too much since the conductor may not be a true 20 gauge. ... show more

    • Just what was needed, light and matched to the LED strip - perfect!

Product was as expected. This is the same gauge wire as the wire on the LED strip which is very convenient. Also, I don't believe this is aluminum because of the way it flexes. I believe it is tinned copper. I used it to extend a connection for my LEDs and it worked perfectly. A good price and fast delivery. I had the lights set up in no time around the bedroom ceiling. I used three 16ft strands so make sure you get an adequate power supply. The strands I purchased from Amazon need about 25 watts at 12v so around 75 watts plus 20% for safety. I ordered the 120 watt transformer so no problem there. The wire does not offer much resistance at all so the lights are all very even in brightness. Amazon saves me so much time. No going out to find expensive reels of wire at the hardware store, it comes straight to my front door. Absolutely great! ... show more

yes - it is wire - clean, smooth and flexible...moves electrical current from on place to another. UPDATE: can be bent arbitrarily - not so much...in the cold the jacket cracks and causes shorts - burned out my buck converter and will cost me more to fix having to replace the converter, the wire plus the time to rewire it all....hopefully the 4 sending units it was hooked to (at about $100 a pc) are still good.... ... show more

    • Good wire but arrives in knot

Good wire for model railroad use. Arrived in what amounted to a large knot! I had to untangle entire mass before beginning project. Some sort of spool is a must to avoid a mess, I turned one from some scrap wood that serves my purpose, but even a stick to wind it on is helpful.
