I've been in the small engine business my entire life and have about about 3 decades of experience with generators. This is a good one, especially for the price. Just remember, every company makes a lemon or two. I have two brand new $1200 gonna eu2200i's and this $300 pulsar is quieter and easier to start. Plus, it's lighter. I started out by trashing the provided oil and went with 5w30 full synthetic, which lasts more than twice a long, and makes it run better and easier to start. Just remember, if you go fill synthetic, you can never go back or else you WILL cause engine damage. It started first pull right or off the box, and still does almost every time after the break-in period. Almost every bad review I've read about this generator on here was written by people who have absolutely no business trying to operate or maintain a small engine of any kind because they are totally clueless to proper maintenance and lack the necessary understanding to properly operate such a machine. Like I said, every company puts out a lemon here and there, but I have worked on many Pulsar units over the years, and they have a really good track record. This one is quite impressive. I'm buying a second one right now so I can parallel them in case one of these stupid overpriced less reliable brand new Honda's decides to crap out again. ... show more

For the price you truly can't beat this inverter generator. I've been using it for a couple months now and talk about reliability. It runs smooth and pretty quiet for its size. Very dependable and the gas lasts a lot longer when the economy switch is tuned on. I do use 5-40w oil instead of the recommended 10-30w because i live in Arizona and the climate is so hot here after I broke it in which you follow the owners manual on their recommended break-in period. Solid generator - for out backup power purposes, runs 5x CFL light bulbs + 1500W space heater or 5x CFL light bulbs + large refrigerator/freezer without issues. On the loud side - expected it to be quieter. The air filter is dry as delivered from factory instead of being pre-oiled, despite manual saying to wash it and oil it. I ran it in eco and no-load for first hour to wash out all the machining dust - these units are assembled without cleaning the parts first. After that I use 10W40 all-synthetic - runs great! Louder but lighter than expected. Can't complain, for $350 we are ready for being out of California electricity for days! ... show more
