Outstanding bed. I did research and going back and forth for months and I’m glad I went with the zinus extra firm. It is extremely firm but still cushioned due to the springs but it’s definitely a much better sleep now than I’ve had in the past. Short version: My wife and I have had this mattress for over a year now and can say with confidence that it was an excellent purchase- it is still firm and has no sags or dips. I highly recommend it. I have held off on writing a review for this mattress because I felt it was necessary to sleep on it for an extended period of time to give it the most fair and accurate review. My wife and I purchased this mattress over a year ago, in November 2017. After going to all the local stores, from big box to mom and pop, my wife and I found ourselves with a problem: we could tell which mattresses were soft and which were firm, but aside from that we didn't really feel much difference apart from the price tag- almost all of which exceeded a thousand dollars, with some approaching two grand. That's quite an outlay of cash. So, going off reviews on Amazon we took the leap on this Zinus Extra Firm iCoil 12 inch king mattress. We also purchased a steel foundation upon which to set the mattress in our bed frame. The box arrived a little beat up, but my wife and I muscled it into the house and carried it upstairs together. It's a two person job, but not impossible. We set the rolled up mattress on our guest bed and carefully cut away the plastic so the bed would unroll. (Pro tip: Don't stand between the mattress and the wall. You might get pinched) We followed the directions and let the mattress sit undisturbed for 2 or 3 days so it could fully expand. After which time, we moved it into our bedroom. It's now more than one year on and I feel qualified to report on the mattress. It is firm, but not rock hard. This is obviously subjective, so all I can say is that you know a firm mattress when you lay on one, and this is a firm mattress but is still comfortable. I'm a side and stomach sleeper, and my wife is a back sleeper. I'm 5'11", 230lbs, and we'll just say that my wife is plus sized and leave it at that. The mattress supports both of us fine, and a year later has no depressions, dips, sags or problem areas. The last time I did laundry I snapped some photos of the mattress which I have posted above. You'll notice the mattress is still even and flat, even after a year of nightly use. I purchased this mattress myself, with my own money, have no relationship with the manufacturer, and am receiving nothing in return for writing this review. I just know how difficult it is take the leap of purchasing something like this over the internet, so I thought I'd write a review to help people in a similar situation my wife and I found ourselves in last year. This mattress was an excellent purchase, I've recommended it to friends, and if you're in the market for a fairly priced firm mattress, I can recommend it to you as well. Cheers. ... show more

    • True to firmness and won’t sag!

I bought this in size twin a year ago because I was living in a small room. It was indeed extra firm so I bought a topper and I figured because of the low price it wouldn’t last long. I’ve bought IKEA mattresses (around the same budget) and within 3 months there was sagging/ sinking so I expected to get the same quality but nope. Had this bed for a year and NEVER sagged! Firmness stayed intact and looks like a luxury mattress! Win win. Fast forward a year later, I moved into a bigger place and could buy a bigger mattress so I decided to give away this twin one and spurge on a more expensive mattress. What a mistake that was! I tried the purple ($1100), the winkbed firmest option ( $1300) and both mattress I would sink in and be sleeping in the mattress versus on top. The purple I kind of expected it because it isn’t advertised as firm but I was intrigued by trying a new material. My friend has the purple and loves it but he likes medium firmness. So nothing against Purple, their customer service was fantastic! The mattress has a very interesting feeling when sleeping on it. They do have other more expensive options and their customer service is great so I’d definitely recommend them. Now as for Winkbed, stay away! With their advertised “firmer mattress” I was sinking in as soon as getting it, I waited days hoping it just hadn’t decompress and nope, it has gotten worse. So bad that I’m taking painkillers everyday to deal with the body aches of sleeping inside the mattress. The company although they advertise a “say nothing and get a refund” I have been emailing them explaining my situation for days, and they have yet to process a refund. They give me copy-and-paste like responses that have nothing to do with my issues like saying it will get softer in time when I’m not saying it is hard, I’m saying I’m sinking in. So how will it getting softer help me? So my experience with Winkbed customer service have been awful. No empathy, no responsibility (think they sent a defective mattress), and not keeping to their word. Also, I tried to leave a review on their website and you can’t. So makes me wonder who can leave reviews on their site? Anywho, stay away. After two failed “splurge” mattress purchases and one awful customer service experience (Winkbed), I decided to go back to the bed that was truly firm! Sometimes the “you pay what you get for” isn’t true. I got a way better, true to firmness, no sagging price at 1/4 of the cost with this mattress!
