  • Great product, recommended to my patients
Size: X-Large
I seldom review products on the Internet, but I felt compelled to review this one. I am a physician and I have had plantar fasciitis now for over a year. 30 years ago while playing basketball in college, I had a plantar fascia rupture from a steroid injection, so that really has not been an option (nor what I necessarily recommend that for patients initially). Over the last year I have tried other night splints, anti-inflammatories, massage and daily stretching, taping, icing, silicone heel cups, over-the-counter and expensive custom orthotics, and all of the standard therapies with persistent symptoms. I have had significant problems with the other knee so I avoided a walking cast or a cam boot - although that does help significantly for a large number of patients. It has been bad enough that I actually had seen an orthopedic colleague to consider a Strayer procedure, which releases tension on the gastrocnemius or posterior ankle tendon. I saw this online and decided to try it for $30. I have been extraordinarily impressed. For this cost, the construction is much better than I had anticipated, and notably better than anything I have found in a drugstore. Since many patients have a fairly high deductible for major medical and orthopedic devices under their insurance, I would consider this a very reasonable option compared to other braces available through DME suppliers. The two things that I like about it the best it are that it seems to be extremely adjustable. There are two wedges that can be placed under the footpad to actually dorsiflex the foot more than 90°, which a lot of other braces do not offer. This allows for gradual extreme stretching of the heel cord. It is really designed as a night splint and not a walking splint, but I was quite impressed with the footpad which is actually very soft and comfortable with limited walking some around in the house, getting up in the middle of the night etc. The straps seem very secure - my only complaint is that I am concerned that the top strap with the padding will not tighten to the leg fully if one has fairly skinny legs, but that may actually be a plus because it offers a just a little bit of mobility and dorsiflexion with walking with limiting plantar flexion - all that seems to make it a little bit easier to walk in the device. It actually is not very bulky in my opinion and fairly comfortable -even was sleeping. Of note, I never expected this to fit my size 16/17 foot. I ordered the XL & my toe comes a half an inch to an inch from the end of the padding and just to the end of the plastic base. What a surprise. After three weeks of wearing this every night and around the house, I can say that my pain is markedly better and for now I have opted not to proceed with surgery. In addition, I received a very nice email from the manufacturer with instructions on how to use the wedges and assurance that they emphasize customer service. I have not had the opportunity or need to contact them, but I’ve also not received a follow-up email from a manufacturer like that before with an Amazon purchase. I have been so impressed with this that I have actually recommended it to patients and with limited feedback, they seem to have been very pleased and found it to be helpful. Plantar fasciitis is a common and very annoying problem and I certainly think trying this for $30 or so is a reasonable investment. ... show more

  • Help and Possibly FIX your Plantar Fasciitis (foot pains) for good - Also a Wonderful Company to work with!
Size: X-Large
Amazon Friends and Buyers - If you have the old painful first step in the morning or in the evening after sitting in the easy chair for a hour or so. This is your fast answer to help with Plantar Fasciitis - StabilityAce Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint (with the understanding that you know you have PF) Just after three nights, my am and pm first steps has improved nearly 85%. Just a little advise, don't wear it around the house before bedtime. Try to wait until you go to bed - go to restroom first :). And yes is does seem a little large and bulky - I have an XL, but it is well worth it and improvement in your daily walking, am and pm pain. Sitting at work at my desk, typing this up, I do not have that small ache in my foot.. I just throw an extra blanket folded longways at the bottom of the bed near the splint area one underneath and just cover up that part of my legs/foot. I wear a sock with the splint, but its not a must.. and pull the other covers and blankets loose over on top. You will need to make that call and adjust what is you best for your sleeping comfort. I was worried about comfort, and turning over at night. I really has not been a problem for the last three nights. It is very durability with nice padding in the correct areas. I had contacted StabilityAce was missing instruction - {I believe lost in Amazon Logistic warehouse in error), and they followed-up on a Sunday within hours with the instructions, suggestions and helpful pointers. Great Company overall. I will always look for StabilityAce for all my aches and pains needs for splints, braces and back support needs (knee, back, elbows, and feet) Small Company but Large Heart willing to help. I don't write many of these comments or reviews - so my statements above is very much a true statement. Thank You Aaron for you Great Company, products, help and support. ... show more

  • Look nowhere else
Size: X-Large
While I read a few reviews talking about having a difficult time using this splint sock, I really can't say that I found it to be any trouble. The instructions/images were easy enough to follow, and I've found that after finding the setting I prefer, I can simply take off the strap at the top of the calf and not have to mess with the other two straps every night. On to the actual benefit of this product...my first morning after using it, I woke up without foot pain for the first time in months. I also managed to sleep through the night without needing to remove the splint, as I have with other metal splints. Now, I'm not going to claim this is a miracle cure, because I'm still working on my plantar fasciitis, but it has gotten noticeably better since I started using this nifty little product, and the comfort through the night is almost like it's not even there. At the price, you definitely CANNOT go wrong! And I'd wager it stacks up against several other higher priced items for the same ailment. Just wish I'd found this sooner! ... show more

  • Worked
Size: X-Large
Purchased for my husband, who has had plantar fascistic so badly that most mornings he can't walk. I made him wear it for a week straight while he slept. He complained about the bulk of the splint, which I knew he would, but he said it wasn't uncomfortable. Just bulky. By the end of the week, his foot was feeling better and he's amazed. He still wears the splint a few nights a week, but he has not had the pain that he had before he started wearing wearing it. The splint is sturdy and well made. Comes with two wedges and a massage ball. He is a size 11.5 in shoes, but has a wide foot. I got him a size XL and it fits well in the width, but the length is a little long. I think the L would have been too small in the width, so if you have a wide foot, maybe order a size up. You won't be walking around in the splint, so the length shouldn't be an issue. All in all, happy with this splint. It really did help him and he was extremely shocked but happy with the results. ... show more
