  • Hard to dial in the adjustment

I have a pretty severe case of plantar fasciitis ... this boot is better than sleeping without a splint on, but I'm back on Amazon to try to find something more effective for me after about a month of use. I have not found a way to achieve any dorsiflexion with this boot without it causing pain -- if I tighten the cross straps enough to hold my heel in place, they put uncomfortable pressure on my foot and it goes numb. If I loosen the straps, my heel is out of place, and I get basically a neutral position in the boot (not dorsi or plantar flexed) (which is better than nothing, but not as effective as actually achieving a small amount of dorsiflexion. I can't sleep with the "steeper" wedge in the splint; only with the shallower one. I may keep using it -- it's better than nothing -- but I am hoping to find something that will be more comfortable and effective without interfering with my sleep. ... show more

  • Helps quite a bit....
Size: Small
My pain is in my right heel...like walking with sharp pebbles in your heel area until it stretches out about a dozen steps later....but once you're at rest and the foot drops forward then get up and walk again and your right back with the pain. Mornings getting out of bed is the worst. Let me say if you have right foot pain and are a senior citizen, it's difficult to bend over and try to fasten the clips into the slots. You can't bend your leg to the side to see them.... then it's tough to tighten them because of the Velcro and location of the clips down low on the side of the boot. But that being said, it helped quite a bit as I'n sitting and relaxing in the evenings. When I get up to walk, I didnt hobble and try to find something to grab onto, to help me ambulate. Good tread on the bottom although they say not to walk in it. I tried using it at bedtime, but I'm a side sleeper and toss around. I did manage a half a nights sleep using it, and had no pain getting up to go to the bathroom. That was a miracle for me. So, I'll use this during the day and look for something less rigid and bulky to sleep in. But this DOES WORK. ... show more

  • She said the splint itself was comfortable on the inside
Size: Small
I bought this splint for my wife who developed plantar fasciitis after breaking her foot. She wore it one night and couldn't wear it again. She said the splint itself was comfortable on the inside. The problem she had was the bulkiness of it. She usually sleeps on her side and the splint would rub on and was very irritating to her other foot and leg. When lying on her back, she had to sleep with the foot outside the blanket because the blanket would push her foot to the side. The velcro also stuck to her pajama bottoms. The other knock against it was that she said she could still straighten her foot out by just flexing her ankle against the strap in front of it. Too bad it didn't work but will return it. Good service from the seller. ... show more

  • Feels Odd At First
Size: Small
I have had Plantar Fasciitis for about 7 years now. I have tried stretching my calf muscles and achilles tendon to help alleviate the pain I have in my foot. I have seen three doctors over the past 7 years and none ever recommended a night splint. Actually, none of these doctors helped me at all. My condition only got worse. Among the other things have I have done on my own that have reduced my pain this is an added bonus. I have used this product for the past 2 weeks. I first used it without the wedges they provide. After getting used to that for a week I have now inserted one of the wedges provided. This will keep your foot and leg in place so that you get a gentle stretching that over time will reduce your pain and discomfort. I don't believe you can use this by itself unless you only have a mild case of Plantar Fasciitis. My condition requires this splint, special shoes made for the condition and a host of other things that keep the pain to a minimum. It will feel odd at first when you use it. Even if you wake up in the middle of the night and take it off, keep using it every night for best results. You will not get instant relief so give it some time. I believe too many people give up too quickly. ... show more

  • Not a Miracle Worker (But Helps)
Size: Small
For starters, the massage ball is junk. It's like a spikey balloon. But, I didn't care about the ball. Now, as for the brace: It has helped my moderate/severe plantar fasciitis. For weeks, I couldn't walk, so I ordered this brace after reading the reviews. Night one, I strapped my foot in tightly because my heel kept lifting up off the base of the brace. I woke up with severe pain in my leg, but my foot felt better. Night two, I loosened the straps a bit, but still had some leg pain (but foot felt better). Night three, I loosened the brace even more and I awoke without leg pain and my foot felt alright. There's a learning curve, but stick with it. I do not believe the brace will ever cure my PF. Nor, do I have day over day improvement. What it does do is provide relief at the end of the day. I can wake up with mild soreness rather than feeling like shards of glass are being rammed into my heel, so that makes it worth it. It's well made. In addition to the brace, I do stretches, roll my feet on a foot roller, and I do trigger point work (the most painful, but offers the most relief). For anyone with PF, this is a good addition to your PF management protocol. ... show more

  • Not designed for smaller Adults
Size: Small
For those that have small feet, these are not a good choice. You can not get the straps tight enough to keep your heel in the heel of the boot while sleeping. If you do get the straps tight enough you are awoken hours later with pain caused by the pressure ulcer that has formed under the strap. It needs a type of neoprene ankle holster that comes out of the heel area of the boot, not a strap over the foot and another above the ankle. Placing the small wedge into the toe area did push the heel back in the heel of the boot however it seamed to be too much as the pressure on the plantar foot was very painful. The other issue with this night splint was the bulk. I felt like I was in a cast. The bulk and pain caused by these splints was too much as it was not allowing sleep to be continuous. I do not recommended these splints if you are a person with a small foot, women's 6.5, and weight 155 lbs. or less. Not made to fit the smaller adult properly. ... show more
