  • Very Comfortable Difference Maker
Color: Red and Black I Regular Size Magnification Strength: 1.5 Diopters
For quite some time, I felt that my eyes were no right and that I was in need of corrective lenses. With my job, I am required to take an annual physical that includes an "eye test", which is a simple reading of an eye chart. Because of what I am able to dicern, albeit somewhat fuzzy, I still rate at 20/15 vision. I have also had two professional eye exams and had left feeling oddly disappointed with the same 20/15 result. I have some days where I struggle more than others with focus issues with tired and dry eyes but I assume that's the same for most people. At home, in the office, outdoors, in stores, all have a variety of factors, mostly lighting, that probably contribute to the degree of sight issues. I finally had reached an "I can't take it anymore" point of focus struggles and decided to break down and buy a pair of readers. I stopped by my local common drugstore to try on a few pair using a medicine bottle as my reading material as it's one of the most frustrating things that I try to read. I know very well that this print is much smaller than typical and not something that I would be reading often so I factored that in accordingly. As I tried on various pairs of glasses, I came across a (more expensive) "computer" reader. I wasn't sure about what exactly this was and then factoring in computer distance versus document distance, I opted to do a little research. This of course turned into a lot of research as I am one of those that really analyzes my purchases, hence the "unfortunate" length of this review. But my hope is to benefit someone with like experiences. I will spare you all of the specifics of my research, but I will simply say that I was quite surprised at all of the things to consider when considering reading glasses. But I was also surprised to learn about the effects of "blue light" or UV rays from flat screen devices and even some office and home lighting sources. What is called "digital eyestrain" more and more seemed like a sound explanation to why my vision is 20/15 but I'm still having issues. I do spend a lot of time in front of a desktop at work, in an office with fluorescent lighting and smartphone time in the evening along with LCD television, albeit from about 8 feet or more away. After reading much about digital eyestrain and relating that to my lifestyle, I came across the Prospeck (or Spektrum) line of glasses. After much consideration about paying a little more than what I otherwise would at the drugstore for something I wasn't 100% sure was a solution, I not only decided on the Prospeck Professional readers (1.50), but also a pair of the Dynamic with no power for desktop and tv use exclusively. I was sold on this brand because I ultimately felt that all things considered, the price was quite reasonable. But also, positive reviews that focused on things like their weight, universal nosepad comfort, quality of materials including spring hinges and size along with styling. I have had these glasses for about a week and a half and have been using them every day in a variety of applications. I am very pleased with the results as I do believe they make a noticable difference in the comfort of my eyes with less strain. For the Professional that are powered at 1.50, quite simply, you don't know what you can't see until you see it. Reading on my smartphone and even playing a couple of games under power is just more comfortable. Period. I do not have much of a qualified opinion about this point but I do feel like the quality and accuracy of the lenses is very good if not excellent. One thing I remember reading about in all of my research is how readers should have their strongest focus in the center of the lens to "guide your eyes" to that sweet spot properly. Forgive me for not remembering the proper technical term or phrase for this effect. As a reference, I wear a 7 1/2 cap size and the large frame option fits great on my nose and ears. The the weight is really only noticable if I'm thinking about the fact that I have them on. Aside from the benefit of power and the comfort of the frames, I am equally impressed by the management of blue light effects. My eyes are simply more comfortable and without question, it's from the reduction of blue light. I thought the slight tint would be a distraction but it's really not to me. Whites are no longer true white and rather have a very slight yellow or dingy like tone. But unless you are in graphic art where color accuracy is a priority, it's likely to only be initially noticable and quickly forgettable. Some reviews mentioned things like "corner glare" or reflections but I've not experienced any of that. There is also the matter of some computer glasses having a wild colored lens tint but I've had no one, including eyeglass wearers comment on the lens color. One last point is the concept of "better sleep". I hesitate to say that as a result of wearing these, I'm sleeping better. I am; however, I did recently purchase a new mattress topper, with Covid-19 I'm simply doing less; therefore, less stress, so I don't know if it's mental or an actual benefit. I do seem to wake up better rested and I definitely am waking up with refreshed eyes, which is something I have not experienced in a long, long time. And I'm at the point where not wearing them in front of a screen is starting to get uncomfortable. Between the drugstore, what a family might have laying around and this purchase, my experience with reading/computer glasses is extremely limited. But I consider myself lucky to have come across this brand considering the price, quality and most importantly, results. They are a real difference maker. As far as the four star rating is concerned, that's only because a 1.25 option was not available, which seemed odd to me. I do believe this would have been a better power for me but only for the benefit of holding my phone at lap level as opposed to 4 inches closer. That being said, I will be buying two more pair so I won't have to transport between home and work. ... show more

  • Cheap Blu Blockers that work.
Color: Red and Black I Regular Size Magnification Strength: 2.25 Diopters
Was a skeptic about Blu Blockers but these changed my mind without having to spend a fortune. I've been wearing them for awhile now. in that time I've experienced noticeably less eye fatigue and I'm on the computer most of the day. No headaches, blurriness or red tired eyes. If your not sure, with these at least, you won't have to spend a lot of money. ... show more

  • Good Purchase ... UPDATE
Color: Red and Black I Regular Size Magnification Strength: 1.75 Diopters
NOV 2020 UPDATE -- I have been using these glasses since July 2020 and am happy to report they have held up well and are easy to clean. I point this out because the inexpensive glasses I've tried in the past have been a disappointment. The lenses frequently fall out, they fog, and are not easy to clean because they streak and still remain foggy ... just not very clear. So I decided to try these until I can get to the eye doctor and get a prescription for some progressive type lenses, reading glasses, etc. However, I would like to point out that I have purchased computer glasses recommended that my eye doctor recommended that did not work as well as these glasses. So we'll see. I use these glasses for about 16 hours a day while I do research and work on my computer. I can no longer read my computer screen without help. Unlike some of my previous glasses these do not have any distortions ... which is important when you keep them on and walk away from your work space! I'm now a senior citizen and I don't need anything that is going to cause me to fall. I am pleasantly surprised with the blue blockage. I have tried other glasses for this but could never really tell the difference. They definitely relieve eye strain. When I remove the glasses the brightness and glare from the computer screen is definitely noticeable. I have noticed where some have commented on the quality of the frame ... that they are flimsy. All I can say about that is I don't have a problem. Yes, they are light weight and will flex. I'm not directing this at anyone ... but I was raised to take care of things. I have things I purchased in the 60's that I'm still using. I don't rip these off my face, but I do frequently use only one hand to put them on and off and I haven't had any problems. I don't let them get very far from my work station, but if I were to put them in my purse I would definitely put them in an eye glass case. Okay ... why not five stars? Well it really has nothing to do with the glasses. It has to do with the box they come it. It is too nice. The case is nice ... nicer than any I've received with any glasses ... expensive or inexpensive. However, the case is in a 'strong arm' box with magnet closures. To me it is an overkill. It is nice enough that you don't want to just throw it away ... but I don't want a box with the name of the glasses on it. During my career with the Navy I use to take ratty file boxes and cover them with contact paper and they looked great ... like new. It takes patience though. However, it saved tax dollars because I wouldn't have to order something new. Problem is that I don't feel like covering this box. First I'd have to find something I would want to keep in it ... and that escapes me at the moment. I would rather have a reduced price for the glasses than such a nice box to ship the glasses and case in. It would be better for the environment too. I'm trying to get rid of things. I don't need extra things to store because I have trouble throwing it away. So ... yes I recommend these and am back to make another purchase. I'm just not happy about having to chuck another d*** strong arm box with magnets! ... show more

  • Perfect!

The glasses are lightweight and comfortable on my bridge. The temple legs are springy and help the glasses stay on if you bend forward but are not too tight in my head. Love these!

I like the wear and style quite a bit. My only issue is they are VERY reflective if you wear them on Zoom meetings or other video calls on the computer, can be distracting to you and other participants. Overall wonderful for long-term computer use.

  • They really helped me
Color: Red and Black I Regular Size Magnification Strength: 1.25 Diopters
I work on a computer all day, and was suffering from severe eye fatigue by the end of the day. I think my problem is in part due to getting old as most people reach an age where they have to get reading glasses. And so that's what I did, I picked up a pair of cheap reading glasses. They helped some, but they weren't very comfortable, the lenses were too small, and by the end of the day I didn't want to look at the screen. I bought a pair of these after doing some internet research, and sure i'm glad I did. My eye strain is mostly gone, and they are much more comfortable than the pair of reading glasses I bought. I have no idea if the blue light filtering helps, or if it is just because it is a better quality pair of lenses than my reading glasses, but whatever the case these have helped me out a lot. ... show more
