TV stand looks incredible and very sturdy. I had a had time finding something that’s good quality, sturdy and looks great. Fireplace looks great. This TV stand looks absolutely amazing! I got the black and silver and it is a great looking stand. We have a Sharp 50" HD flat panel TV and were amazed how much larger it looked compared to how we had it before. We had been using a square clunky coffee table as the stand and didn't really notice how much it was impacting the image. First off they recommend backing it up to a solid wall but diagonally it is perfectly stable. Second, we have it on carpet, so hardwood or tile is only getting sturdier. Lastly, like I said we have a 50" and it looks much larger than before due to the smaller design but I wouldn't put anything larger on it for fear of tipping. I've never owned anything larger than a 50, but I'd say this seems almost designed for that exact size. Assembly took me near 3 hours, probably could have done it in 2, but I like to be thorough considering I'm trusting the far pricier television to the stand. It says do not use power tools however I used a screw gun for the hinges on the doors, very carefully though. The entire thing can be done by yourself but I would highly recommend having a second person around to assist with the door mounting. All the instructions are easy to follow and illustrated clearly. It reminded almost of building lego sets when I was younger using the booklets! If the doors aren't lined up perfect don't worry, they can be adjusted. The tough part is just getting the hinges on the body and then the doors on the hinges. All in all I'd say it probably took an hour and a half reading the instructions, counting all the pieces and making sure everything was there, and then assembling everything up to the doors. Next hour and a half was getting them on there, adjusting the doors to exactly where I liked them, and them hooking up all the electronics. Shelf space is incredible! I have a standard Samsung Blu-ray on the middle shelf on the highest tier (the one centered with the cut-out backing for cordage and perpendicular to the door handles; also there are 3 tiers for all 3 shelves) and it fits flush. I have a Wii U underneath the Blu-Ray and have extra cordage to run the sensor bar from the back of the Wii there to the top of the tv with no trouble. I could probably fit another system juxtaposition to the Wii U on that shelf if I needed too. Its pretty spacious. As for the shelves inside, I have them on the lowest tier and can fit all the accessories for the Wii on just one side! You could easily adjust the shelving in a pinch if need be. All in all I would recommend this stand based on looks alone. The added benefit of shelf customization, stability, and just the amount of space it gives makes it a fantastic buy. Also the price is quite low for what you get. You'd probably pay 110+ easily in a retail store for this TV stand before tax. Lastly it is quite heavy in the box. It was shipped FedEx and I believe they listed it at 68 lbs.? Might be wrong I'll check and edit if that's the case. Once assembled its easy enough to move. ... show more

We have had this TV Stand for over 5 years now and it has held up nicely. Our 50" LG TV fit perfectly on it. Highly recommend if you are looking for something cost effective. Pros: Price, looks clean, TV fits perfect. Cons: Can scratch easily if pets like cats jump on it or kids drive toys on it. Also not most durable material i.e cannot sit or lean on it to hard. ... show more

This review is for both the Altra Carson TV Stand for TVs up to 70" and the Audio Stand. I purchased one TV stand and two audio stands (both in black/cherry) and they look great as a set. The total set is about 98" wide so you will need a long empty wall if you intend to set up the full set. The items cannot be purchased as a set with the 70" TV stand size. I received the audio stands first so I assembled them prior to receiving the TV stand. It about two hours to put together the two stands. The most challenging part to assemble was the doors as you have to use a guess and check method to get the doors aligned correctly so they do not scratch against the top and bottom when they open and close. The top of the stand is about 55" tall, and you essentially get four shelves on each stand in addition to the storage behind the door. The instructions advise not to put anything on the top of the stand, but if you have something less than five pounds that is not breakable I think it would be safe. The storage area behind the door is very spacious, and I was able to fit about 55 blu-ray discs and almost 100 CDs (I put the CDs in the back and the blu-ray discs in front, so in the picture you can't actually see the CDs). The TV stand was more time consuming to put together than one audio stand which makes sense because it has many more parts. The box weighs about 98 pounds, so it is strongly recommended to have someone help you move the box especially if it is going to be between floors. When assembling the TV stand, you will need a good deal of floor space to lay all of the pieces and hardware. The directions were very straightforward, and as with the audio stands the door hinges were the most challenging. The instructions do not list a drill as a required tool, but I do not think I could have assembled the doors without one. Without a drill, you would probably need a second person to hold the door in place while screwing. The storage behind the doors on the TV stand do not have nearly as much room as the audio stand, and are more appropriate for remotes, controllers, and manuals than media. Each level of the TV stand has a wide opening for cords in the back, but no real cord management system. I used cable ties and mounts to better organize my cords. I have a 65" TV, and it is about 1.25" away from the edges on each side, so a 70" TV would definitely be the largest size one could have without having the TV extend beyond the edges of the stand. When put together, the TV stand and two audio stands look like one complete unit as the height of the TV stand is the same as the bottom level of the audio stand. The only change I would have liked is if the entire top of the TV stand was black like the 50" TV stand as the shelves of the audio stand are all black (on the 70" model the center section of the top is black but the sides are cherry).
