  • We like it!

This is a great product it terms of cost and quality and one's health.. Recently, there had been information coming out that sitting more than 8 hours per day is bad for your health. Oh great, guess what I do most of the day at work. Anyway, as it turned out we got a job assignment at a company that is using this riser. I found out from them that they found this riser to be the most cost effective. Well, it turns out it is not only cost effective but, well made and easy to use. There are other risers on the market, I discovered, that have a crank or are electrically operated but, can cost more money. Anyway they let me try one out. I was able to move the riser by lifting up or pushing down on the top table of the riser. At first I tried lifting straight up but, it didn't move. So, after a little coaching to push slightly forward and downward while going down or lifting slightly toward me and upward while going up, it was a piece of cake. There were various height positions that were locked in by metal latches on each side. If each latch was in the middle of the leg frame of the riser, it was locked. On the other hand, if both latches were in a forward or backward position the riser was moveable. Some people I see commented about the location of the latches or effort required to move the riser positions. I found that once I got the hang of the unit, no problem for me in either area. I am 5'5" tall. Also, I would add that the keyboard tray slid in or out which was nice if I wanted to put the keyboard and mouse directly on the desktop. Ultimately, a decision was made to purchase one so, I measured the base legs of the riser for the desk we were going to use. As it turned out it would fit nicely. The base legs were 21 1/2" long and the width between them 29 3/4". Once we got the riser, we put it on a desktop that was 30" deep and positioned it 5" from the desktop front. In that location, when fully raised, the top of the riser was equal to the front of the desk. If the keyboard tray was pulled out all the way it overhung the desk by about 6 1/2". With the riser in the lowered position the keyboard tray was about 8 1/2 " from the front edge of the desktop, thus allowing room for placement of the keyboard and mouse if the tray was not extended. If the keyboard tray was extended, the distance from the front edge of the keyboard to the front edge of the desk was about 3". When the keyboard was centered on the riser tray, there was 3"-4" to the side for the mouse. With the keyboard shifted right or left, there was room for the mouse and narrow mouse pad. I found it more functional to put the mouse on the riser top. The surfaces of the riser are smooth and slick thus easy to clean especially since black tends to show water spots, dust. The trim around the top platform and tray to date shows no evidence of separation. The paint on the supporting structure was without flaws. Over time movement of the riser and side latches have been getting easier. I think that's just a matter of breaking the hardware in. I have a colleague who is much taller than me and does have to look down slightly at the computer screen. However he will put a book under the monitor base to the height he likes if he is going to be on the computer for awhile. We are glad to have been able to get this riser and would encourage anyone who is thinking seriously of making the investment to consider this one. We are very happy with it's performance and appearance.. ... show more

  • This is a great alternative to the $350 to $500 models.
Color: Black
I have used this item for almost two weeks. For me, this is a five star sit to stand monitor riser. I read quite few of the then 52 reviews and balanced the positives with the issues. I looked a the reviews for the next riser that was over a hundred dollars more. I bypassed the risers that were over $350. The item came ready to put on my desk and start using. My 24 inch LCD monitor fit perfectly and left room for a typical 2.0 system speaker on each side of the monitor. My desk top computer sits to the right side on my desk. The monitor surface does sit about 5 inches off my desk surface. So when sitting I move my monitor closer and tilt is downward. Some times I leave my keyboard on the keyboard surface and sometimes half on and half on my desk. Both ways work. This riser needs a cordless mouse otherwise you will be figuring out if you want to leave the mouse on monitor or the keyboard surface. I found no need for a mouse pad but use one anyway. There were complaints about how the top surface locks work. After some trials I found it works fine if set up correctly. First, note that the locking mechanism on each side has a knob and a ring below the knob. On first use watch the knob/ring while moving it up and down. Note the positions. 1. Ring above the surface support piece, 2. Ring even with the surface support piece and 3. Ring beyond/below the surface support piece. When lifting the monitor surface, have the ring higher than the surface support piece. Once the surface is at the highest point then push down on the top surface and lower the surface to your desired position Now slowly push down on the surface while also pushing down on the knobs. The locking mechanism will slide into a notch and lock onto place within about an inch of where you stopped. If you push either or both rings past the surface support piece the surface will not lock in place. The rings have to be aligned with the supports to lock into place. CON: The first couple days I used the riser I would slide my desk chair behind me while I stood in front the monitor. When I had to turn to go to my filing cabinet or drawing table on the opposite wall I would run into my chair. ... show more
