    • Inflated specs - definitely not 2100W starting power
After buying this unit from Coscto and using it for over a year, I can give you my thoughts on this product. It is decent for the price, however I can tell with using it that the wattage is definitely inflated on paper. I have a 1500W In-fared garage heater and this unit chugs for about 3 seconds (red surge light will stay on) before it can bring the idle up to handle the load. I have installed a hour meter/tach and it idles at ~3,000 RPM and around 4850-4950 RPM with a decent sized load. In comparison to my friends 1600 Watt Yamaha is that the Firman is rated at more starting and running power but it definitely does not handle it. The Yamaha will easily power my air compressor while the Firman W01781 does not have the power to do it. Strange as Firman rates their power of the W01781 over the Yamaha's and simply doesn't not have 2100W starting power. ... show more

    • Less than 100 hours...NO SPARK!
Bought this from my RV Dealer (Not Amazon). Bought 2 of these to run in parallel to run my son's life support equipment in our camper. Pretty quiet...happy with that. On our 6th trip (2 months out of warranty), one of them quit running in the middle of the night. It has no spark (oil sensor is good as is the oil level. Called Firman and they wont help out. They do not make a service manual, so there are no resistance specs or wire diagram for testing. If you get 100 hours out of one of these, consider yourself lucky! ... show more

I got a total use of 1.5 hours out of this piece of crap. I ran the break in period of 5 hours (broken up into 2 2.5 hour sessions) used it once for 1 hour to run a light in my storage garage and half an hour for the same light a few weeks later. Ran the fuel from the lines to preserve the lines and haven't been able to get it to start since, pulled the lines to check for blockage, rebuilt the carb, replaced spark plug, will not start whatsoever.     • Air Filtration is no good!
Generators only lasted one season and died due to dirt getting behind the air filter. This was before the service interval listed in the owners manual. Ad on Firman's website says perfect for camping but, I don't know many places you can go camping where the generator won't be in dirt. I'm very disappointed in this unit and will not be buying another Firman product again. Should have bought a Honda! ... show more

    • Never ran right or produced power
Never ran smooth, super loud, Never pushed out electricity. Don't these Chinese companies test the products before shipping. Back to Costco it went.
