The Westinghouse iGen2200 Portable Inverter Generator produces 2,200 peak watts and 1,800 running watts, making it perfect as an emergency backup for home use or for recreational use. The iGen2200 can simultaneously power most refrigerators and large appliances as well as any home necessities you may need while traveling. Powered by a 4-Stroke OHV Westinghouse engine, the iGen2200 is engineered to automatically adjust its engine speed to produce only the amount of power needed for enhanced fuel efficiency. It’s lightweight and convenient, weighing 46 lbs. with a built-in carrying handle for easy portability. The iGen2200 has an ultra-low tone for community-friendly use, operating as low as 52 dBA which is quieter than the average conversation. It started up on one pull of the cord, It was so quiet I didn’t realize it had started on the first pull. This was purchased for traveling about . Nice and small and light. The price was excellent . Website they provide for parts ordering doesn’t work . Ordering form doesn’t recognize the part numbers that’s supplied in the manual . When called all you get is a tape recording to leave a callback number. But nobody calls back. I’ve tried locally to get parts but but can’t find other brands that cross match the original . The gen. Starts great right now but when it’s time to replace plugs, filters etc. then what. Growing up Westinghouse house was a well respected brand but now I don’t feel like they care about their customers . So do more research on this before buying.     • Powerful portable generator for home or RV

This is my second Westinghouse portable generator. I gave my first one to my daughter and upgraded to a more powerful unit with 3,000 W output (3,700 W peak). I just prepped the unit with break-in oil procedure, with 3 oil changes and progressively adding loads to the unit for the proper break-in. Unit is very quiet and easy to maneuver on wheels with a collapsible handle for pulling it. This unit will work very well as a backup generator for the occasional power outage we experience in the Northeast, especially in the winters. Able to run refrigerator, sump pump, internet modem-router, desktop computer and 3 LED lights. Then able to add on top of those items, one at a time a coffee maker, a hot pot and microwave. Haven't tried it yet with our motor home, but plan on using it to plug in to the RV to power AC, microwave and coffee maker when not on shore power, which will be nice for "dry-camping". You really can't beat the price of this unit, which makes it much more affordable than the Honda units, which are about twice as expensive. I read many reviews online as well as watched multiple youtube videos about this unit before pulling the trigger. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it to those looking for backup power for homes during a power outage or for backup power for an RV. ... show more

    • Pleasantly surprised (first impression)
Style: 1500W Pattern Name: Generator
This generator is lighter and quieter than I expected. It appears to be designed and manufactured well. Tiny negative: I am concerned that the plastic fastener tabs on the engine cover will break off; they don't look beefy enough to last for the life of the generator. (This cover needs to be removed to check the oil level.) The generator is about twice as noisy as I recall the Honda 1000W generator to be. I chose this generator mainly for the promised 12 hour run time. This review is based on running the unit for about 20 minutes at 500W load. I have (and am currently) running the generator with 1/2 load (500W). It's been running for four hours. Fuel consumption appears to be very good. Negatives: CO sensor is too sensitive; it shut off, apparently because a light breeze was blowing the exhaust back into the back of the unit. Could be a problem if wind direction is variable. Also, the screw holding the choke knob vibrated out within one hour of running. I very nearly lost the tiny screw among dirt and leaves. The CO led says "see action label" but I couldn't find any such label so had no idea how to reset the CO sensor to get the unit working again. (The RESET button doesn't seem to do anything.) It finally timed out after about 10 minutes. Near a picnic table, this unit is noisy and stinky. I'm happy mainly because fuel consumption looks very good. (Runtime is what I care about most.) ... show more
