  • Good helmet, but the inner liner is crappy
Pros: • The certified helmet has hard foam padding and will protect your head from serious injuries • Looks stylish Cons: • The inner liner isn't comfortable • Sweat causes the inner liner to deteriorate; the glue holding the velcro on loosens up and the thin cloth covering the foam just falls off • Replacement liners are hard to find, and they're so expensive, you might as well replace the entire helmet • Sweat pools up inside the helmet and drips into your eyes This isn't the worst helmet out there, and it's definitely going to keep your head safe. But for about the same price, you can get a Triple 8 Certified Sweatsaver, which addresses all of the cons I've mentioned here. Once the liner in my Pro-Tec fell apart, I switched to Triple 8, and I'm never going back. ... show more

  • a helmet that my kids actually want to wear
Grabbed this helmet for my 12 yr old. Fits great and doesn't look "cheesy." Very quality helmet for the money, and he likes wearing it very much. His report is that it is very comfortable and he doesn't feel lame wearing it. Safety first, but if it isn't "cool" my kids won't wear it. My other kids were jealous, so we ordered up for them too. The whole neighborhood is sporting helmets now. Who would have thought that leading by example would have been so easy ... show more

  • Quality Helmet, Crap inner liner and ROUND
Color: Matte Black Size: X-Small
I bought this helmet along with the triple 8 dual certified. Both Helmets are pretty much the same helmet from a protection standpoint. I saw various reviews comparing the shapes of both helmets with Protec being more round & Triple 8 being more oval. I was not really sure how my head would fit so I purchased both to compare. Looking at the helmets you can clearly see the shape difference. Well this helmet is definitely round and will fit a round head shape better. It looks more pronounced of a mushroom on my head and there is more space (loose) in the temples so yea it is round and I realized my head is more oval shaped. The triple 8 is for sure more oval and fit my head much better all around and had no gap near the temples. With the padding the protec is pretty thin! Triple 8 offers two sets of liners with different thickness and the thinner one is still thicker than the Protec. Long story short; same exact helmets safety wise as Triple 8, Protect for round head and liner is crap! If my head was round and was a fit for me I would give it a 4. One star deduct for the liner ... show more

  • Looks nice and XXL fits...barely...
I have an enormous skull. I got the XXL, and even that size is just a tad bit too small. It fits on my head, but I know it's going to create those uncomfortable red lines on my forehead because of the pressure. I'm just glad I found a brand that makes its XXL easy to find. The helmet alone looks really nice, even if I look ridiculous with my enormous skull and this enormous helmet atop my dome. It'll do the trick, and my toddler son can't stop putting it on himself. :) ... show more

  • Comfort and Protection are #1 with Protec
I’ve been using protec helmets for skating, skateboarding, and even horseback riding for over 15 years. They are an excellent product and do the most important job they were designed to do, protect your head! I recently bought a new one here and the fit was perfect. I like the improved more comfortable padding that in no way sacrifices the level of impact protection. I’ll be buying another helmet soon for my son as I teach him to skateboard and ride his scooter. It’s one of the only brands I trust because it’s saved my noggin many times too! ... show more

  • Great helmet, and well worth the extra price compared to one of the "non-certified" ones...
Color: Matte Black Size: Medium
As a new skateboarder, I was very happy to come across this one; there was NO WAY I was going to get one of the ones that WASN'T certified. Seems crazy to me they would even attempt to market such a product. This one, however, is awesome. It fits me excellent, is sturdy, and quite comfortable. The large amount of ventilation makes for great air flow while not sacrificing protection. Finally, it stays on quite well and adjusts beautifully. Good price, too. ... show more

  • Well Made
Color: Rubber Black Size: Large
Just recieved my black large helmet and it fits perfect. My head is just a tad under 23". I had to ajust the strap and use all available length but got it to fit as well, just right. Helmet comes with a couple decals as well but I will be using a decal of Route 66 with wings that I will apply to the back. Helmet is certified and well worth the money, looks fantastic. ... show more

  • Awesome classic design. Tight around the temples. The strap is nice and long.
I ended up returning this as it was too tight around the temples. I went with a standard mountain bike helmet which was a little lighter and more breathable, but was having a hard time finding one with straps that were long enough. If I was doing more tricks or skating I'd have kept this one. The matte gray finish was nice and actually felt a little matte, and not smooth, if that makes sense. ... show more
