  • Solid product!
Style Name: Power Cage Only
Item was delivered in one box and packed super secure with pieces of wood and styrofoam to protect it. The symmetrical design elements made it a breeze to put together. I really liked how ALL the heavy duty nuts/bolts are the same size. Follow the directions and in about 30-60 minutes you will have it put together. I did it by myself. It fits all my needs and is at an incredible price point. ... show more

  • Great centerpiece to start a home gym.
Style Name: Power Cage Only
I have used this cage daily for roughly 3 months and the pros far outweigh the cons. Let's start with the cons: (1) without being weighted down, the cage is a bit unstable for some exercises. Examples: I do leaning lateral arm raises where the upright is my anchor. Without weight on the cage, the rack would topple over. Also, when using heavy weight for landmine chest presses and using a plyo box as a psuedo fulcrum or point of support, the cage will lift off the floor at the point where the landmine attaches to the frame (think of a seesaw with only one person; person goes down while the opposite side goes up). That said, this is the tradeoff you make when you consciously purchase an inexpensive (note, I did not say cheap) piece of equipment with a small footprint designed for home use. Most of this is easily countered with weights low and at the corners as seen in the picture, provided you have the luxury of other weight available to perform the exercises. In my case, I use dumbbells for the leaning lateral raises and bumper plates for the landmine chest presses and leave the iron plates on the holders. (2) The smaller chrome hooks (not the long safety bars) that come with it leave something to be desired. As a result of the design, if you are shifting the bar laterally before un-racking, they can come unhinged if you are not careful. And, if you care about this sort of thing, they do not have high backs and you will scratch the uprights and potentially your bar when re-racking. It also makes for a clunky re-rack as the the hook is not flush with the upright. I opted for third party j-hooks with high backs and hard plastic "padding" (not the Fitness Reality ones) that solved this. (3) I would have liked the pull-up bar to have knurling. I use hockey tape, but it's not the same. All that said, I have zero regrets about this purchase. I have not experienced the negatives in some of the other reviews. The item was packaged very well and there were no defects out of the box that I noticed. For the price, this is a sturdy piece of equipment and is manufactured well with quality material and I expect it to last much longer than I originally anticipated. It was easy to assemble and when all bolts are torqued properly, there is minimal to no wobble. I can see how some people would have issues with hitting their face on the upper horizontal support bar when re-racking after a squat, but I face the opposite direction. I imagine these folks have a mirror at the rear of the cage and this is why they face that direction. The hooks don't have to be on the rear upright where that support bar is, either. Additionally, there are plenty of universal 2x2 attachments available (dip bars, j-hooks, landmine, etc.) that make this rack a solid centerpiece to build your home gym around. I opted not to purchase the lat pull down attachment and instead use after market pulleys and resistance bands, further enhancing the usefulness of this cage. With this cage and available attachments, there is almost no exercise that I cannot do at home that I could have done at the gym. I would highly recommend this item if you are able to get it at a reasonable price. ... show more

  • Pretty much perfect for a home gym
Style Name: Power Cage Only
As others have said, it's pretty much perfect. Really the only thing I'd prefer is if the low row/pully was about 4-5 inches higher for doing seated back rows (while sitting on the floor). Oh, and a foot plate attachment to give a little space for stretch on those seated back rows would be good. Otherwise it looks great, feels incredibly sturdy. Been using 4-5 times a week for 2 months with zero issues. Was kind of a pain in the butt to put together, but I'm not sure I would want it to be any easier. It was difficult because it was a lot of sturdy bolts. And all of that for an excellent price. ... show more

  • Good enough for a home gym
Style Name: Power Cage Only
This was purchased in March 2023, so I'm not sure how much has changed since earlier reviews. The box was delivered with minor exterior damage (expected based on the weight), but the contents were all individually wrapped, and cushioned with foam and cardboard, and the box was reinforced with a few thin wooden squares; no damage. The instructions were easy to follow, showed exactly where stickers/decals should end up, and each post had an "up" arrow sticker. I took note of other reviewers having trouble squatting in the cage because of the top brace. Costco sells the same cage but without the top bracket. I built this with the brace, then removed it to see if there was any difference in stability. There was no difference, so I left the top brace off. It would definitely interfere with squats or spotting my kids when they bench press. I also took heed of the shoddy/dangerous j-hooks mentioned in other reviews, so I bought Yes4All j-hooks and plate holders at the time of the purchase. The advantage of this cage over similar products is that it has standard 2x2 posts and 1-inch holes. Attachment options are almost limitless. I would give this product a 5-star rating except it would not represent the overall quality and stability of the cage. You get what you pay for. The kids are going into their senior year, and it will just be me left alone with the home gym after next year. I could not justify paying $5K plus for a cage. This will get the job done for a lot less. I will update the reviews after a few months of use. Both my son and daughter compete in Olympic weightlifting in high school, so the garage gym equipment will be put to the test. July UPDATE: So glad I saved money on the squat rack. It really only holds the bar between exercises. I think if someone wanted to attach pullies or use the rack as a platform for other equipment, it might need to be a more stable and expensive rack. The kids have learned to use the safety bars for their feet to extend pullup workouts and to switch grips. The smooth pullup bars provide no grip whatsoever, so I wrapped them in sports tape (hockey stick tape would work as well). The other reason the cheaper rack is sufficient is the kids use the home-built lifting platform as much as the rack, so we're getting good use out of the rubber weights. I also bought a rubber barbell boot instead of a bolt-on landmine for the rack. The rubber boot doesn't scratch the bar and it sticks like super glue to the textured horse stall mats on the lifting platform. Everything is holding up great. ... show more
