To start off I’m a 23 y/o college student here in Pensacola FL, after hurricane Sally came through and ravaged the Gulf Coast along with my home we ended up losing every bit of food we had in our deep freezers and refrigerator. So I figured it was finally time to pull the trigger on a new generator and I am so glad I did! Firstly, I ordered the variant with wheels, I recommend this version as the wheel kit on its own is about $100. The generator is about 100lbs (45kg) and with the wheel kit it’s easily maneuverable. Second, the noise level. For a generator it’s not extremely loud, I’d say it’s a little bit more quiet than a lawn mower. When you’ve got fans running inside your house you won’t be able to hear it at all! Third, the wattage. I was able to plug in a deep freezer, a double (fridge/freezer) refrigerator, a huge shop fan and a fast charger for my cellphone. It could’ve easily powered much more, like a game console, a tv and more. The generator did idle down and up when the compressors would kick in which is normal, it worked fine in that regard. Fourth, reliability. I’ve used this generator twice now, the first time when it came in to test it out and make sure there was no damage as I’ve seen other users report damaged generators on arrival. Mine arrived with just one single dent on the top handle, everything else was pristine condition! The second time I used it was when hurricane Zeta came through, we lost power for a day and it just now came back on in time for me to write a review for the generator! Fifth, connections. This generator has two standard wall outlets and then two RV connections, I bought a nema L5-30P to 5-15R adapter. Which gave me three extra wall outlet ports to use. This came in handy big time for plugging on peripherals like my phone charger, coffee pot or a fan. TLDR: Overall great buy, be wary of shippers as your version could arrive damaged. If it’s damaged, return it and Westinghouse will take care of it. This generator is very reliable, easy to start, and worth every penny! ... show more

To be clear, I have not used the generator in an emergency yet - I have only tested it. I ran it for about 30 minutes while powering a small refrigerator and some other devices. Based on my experience, I am very pleased with it. The generator arrived in excellent shape - no issues from shipping. It was easy to assemble the wheel kit and add oil. I had it ready to go in about a half hour. You will want to have the wheel kit. Is is very easy to move and maneuver with the wheels, but heavy and awkward enough to be difficult without them. In an emergency, the last thing I want is to hurt my back getting the generator ready. I added some gas and followed the instructions to start it. To say that it is easy to start is an understatement. It started on the first pull, and I didn't even need to pull hard. It was amazing. The noise was about what I expected, maybe a little quieter than comparable generators I have used. It runs very smoothly. Everything worked great. The emissions control is amazing. I was surprised that I could never small any fumes as I approached it when it was running. All of the controls and outlets, as well as the oil plug and oil fill/dipstick are clearly labeled and easy to access. Note that while this is rated at 3600/4650 watts, you cannot accomplish that using only the two household outlets. Those share a 20 amp breaker. So using normal extension cords, whether one or two, the best you can do is 2400 watts (120V x 20 amps). Unless you plan to use something connected to the L5-30 or TT-30 connector, you will want to buy an L5-30P adapter in order to take advantage of the full capacity. Adding the 30 amp (up to 3600 watts) capacity of the L5-30 outlet to the 20 amps, you can reach the full capacity. This thing looks well built! There are some cheaper things about it, but that is mostly like the wheels. The spots where they went a bit cheaper where all things I'd rather not have too much money spent anyway. The welds on the frame look great. It fired right up when I fueled it up. I recently bought my Westinghouse WGen3600 generator as an emergency power source to keep my outdoor tortoises warm in the event of a power failure. My nephew recently bought the same generator as an emergency source of power for his house. The generator is very solid and well-built. The manual was well- written and it actually came with the generator, rather than customer having to download it, which I really appreciate. It comes with a well-laid out maintenance schedule, and from looking at the schedule, the generator should be very easy to maintain. And not that it should really matter at all, but the generator is nice- looking as well. I never got to actually use my generator since I only recently got it, and have had no emergency power failures where I actually had to put it to the test of how it will function in an emergency, but all I've mentioned is true, and I researched the generator well before purchasing it, and my nephew loves his. ... show more
