Its tough, aluminum slats are held together by a strong elastomer hinge to eliminate any water and debris from entering your truck bed. This is a great design that is fairly easy to install, looks and functions great once done. My only issue was the lack of attention to detail on some machining. All 4 of the clip mounting holes were fouled with burs that couldn't just be blown out, I had to ream them with a drill bit to install the hardware. Fast install, clean bed transition, great design. Fords deep bed compliments the storage capacity really well. Really like that it integrates with the tailgate to utilize it as its locking mechanism. Still have yet to water test but overall great buy.

The factory installed one went bad at about the 4 year mark - warped, filled with water and deteriorated. This one is designed the same way. It’s easy to install especially when you are replacing one and know what to do. The panels fit nicely and are very lightweight and easy to flip. It has a buckle feature with straps under the panels so that you can secure it when all panels are up. The exterior buckle isn’t that attractive but it’s necessary. Function better than looks in this case. The drain tubes they provide are a bit flimsy and they only have them for the front. My old one had front and rear. I was able to work them into the existing tubes easily. I was able to use the “old” tube holder for the back since it slid into the new track. It’s not as water tight as I would like which is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise it’s good. Let’s see if it lasts longer than the original one. At about the same price I hope so. ... show more

    • Customer service evaporates when you need parts (Updated)

Overall, a really good cover for my F-150. A little leaking (very little) as noted by other customers, but nothing that creates an issue for me. ON THE OTHER HAND... three years after I put this cover on my truck I was hauling some lumber with the tail gate down and one of the side rail clamps came off. First time this has ever happened, and don't know how or why, but it did,but when I got to my destination, the clamp had vanished. Probably bounced off the back of the truck. I checked all of the the other clamps and all were tight. I emailed Realtruck support and asked if I could buy a replacement clamp, and received a reply on the next business day asking which cover I had. I sent them that information immediately and no response. I emailed them again the next business day. Again no response. Now you would think that just two clamps on one side would do the trick, but no, not so. My truck now leaks like a sieve at the back corner (I even moved the center clamp to the corner to hold it down there and I can't find an aftermarket replacement clamp that will work with the Gator's unique design. I'm at a real loss here. I don't have the equipment to fabricate a new clamp, and I don't want to drill through the side rails of my truck bed, so I may be in the market for a new top, but if I have to buy one, it certainly won't be from these folks. UPDATE: I finally got a response from Realtruck's customer service. They told me they couldn't help, that I had to contact the manufacturer, "Undercover". I found a company called Undercover on the webs that makes these tops, and they owned by Realtruck. So far no response from them either. Just downgraded this purchase to two stars. 2ND UPDATE (Hopefully last): Finally got a response from Undercover. they can provide the replacement part I need, but I do have to purchase a pack of 6. Probably for the best; I would hate to go through all of this again. No online ordering available, so had to call in. After two weeks I was able to place an order for these. Hopefully they will show up soon. No order number or confirmation...fingers crossed. I really hate all of the CS issues, the product really is great. ... show more
