Update: 3 years later, I still love this mattress. It’s held up, is supportive and comfortable and never sleeps hot. It’s been a very good buy for me. It’s a very good inexpensive mattress that has proven to be a great value. I replaced a 20+ year old Sleep Number mattress with this mattress. I've had it over a week now and love it. The mattress is medium firm, which I like. The top layer of gel-infused foam provides a bit of sink in comfort, but not to the extent that it's hard to move or change positions. Mine expanded to a full 12" within 2-3 hours of putting it on my bed (I kept the Sleep Number foundation on the bed under this mattress). I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain at all. My old Sleep Number mattress was giving me both. To give you an idea of the give in the top layer, I have attached a couple of pics of my dogs on the mattress. I will say, they LOVE the new mattress and I have a hard time getting my Pittie (Black & White pup) to get off of it. The Rottie/Shepherd weighs about 92 pounds and you can see, the mattress has a good amount of cushioning for joints and pressure points. It's been a GREAT buy! I will check back in 3 months and a year so I can say how the mattress holds up over time. Can't beat the price on this and I will be buying another one for my son soon. A month and a half later - STILL loving this mattress. It is still very comfortable. I sleep great. I don't think it sleeps hot. I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain. I bought a second one on Prime Day for my son. I don't think you can go wrong with this mattress. Four months later - this mattress is still great! My Pittie races me up the stairs to the bedroom and jumps in the bed first. When I'm at work, she sleeps on the bed. I love it. It's firm, yet comfy. I'm never hot and my room is the hottest room in the house during summer. I've recommended this mattress to all my friends and family. This has been an excellent value. 14 months later - This mattress has held up well over time. It’s still firm yet with enough cushion to be very comfortable. It has continued to be an excellent value for the money paid. No backaches or shoulder pain after sleeping on it. Both my son’s and my mattress are in excellent condition. We bought a memory foam mattress from this brand several years ago. We loved it but unfortunately lost the mattress in a house fire. We were planning on just buying the same mattress again, but then we saw that Zinus was offering a deal on a mattress and bed frame. Since we needed both, we went ahead with this purchase. We've been using the new mattress for a few weeks now and are very happy with it. It's just like our previous one. It's firm, but you sort of sink into it. I usually prefer softer mattresses and my husband prefers firm. This is one that we both like and sleep comfortably on. I haven't really noticed the cooling gel at all. It's still winter where we live; maybe in the summer it's more noticeable. Also, the bed frame is very nice and sturdy. The wood looks good in our room. ... show more

After having the mattress for about 3 weeks I will say that the cooling feature is really nice. The whole thing about being green tea infused....meh. I dont see any real benefit to it but whatever. The only negative is that it is, like other reviews have said, a little soft. But the support is still good and it's a damn comfortable mattress. If you are a bigger person like me you may have a little trouble rolling over or moving toward the edge of you sleep in the middle of the bed. I've started RVing full time. The first thing that had to go was the $20 mattress it came with. I got the 8" Gel foam in a short queen. It expanded to about 85% size in an hour, and took the next day to finish expanding. While it is worlds better than the cheap mattress it replaced, the ad calls this a medium level firmness. I weigh 275 pounds and I think I may sink in 1.5 inches. I keep wondering how something this firm can be this comfortable. It is a comfortable bed and works great for my needs, but if this is what they call 'Medium', I'd hate to see what they call firm... Concrete? I've had a few foam beds like this and the cooling gel works great. It doesn't sleep hot at all, and at my weight I'm susceptible to a hot bed. I'm thinking of finding a 2-3" gel topper to get just a little more plushness. If you like a firm bed, this is a great one for the price. ... show more

I kept this mattress in the box for like 2/3 weeks to have ready in my new house, despite the directions saying to open it soon after receiving it. Safe to say it still expanded to its proper size (12in) from what I can tell visually at least. It’s a pretty tall mattress but not too tall to the point you need deep pocket sheets. I normally have awful back pain but it seems to have been lessened a lot since sleeping in this mattress and I’ve only been using it for a week. I am a side sleeper and I love it. I fall asleep quickly and it is still “cool” even with a waterproof protector on it. I overheat easily and have had no problems with it being warm. THIS IS NOT A PLUSH/SOFT MATTRESS. It is firm to the touch, you will only sink in a little, and I’m sure those are factors that go into the pressure relieving properties of this mattress so I’m not surprised by this. I’ve never had a mattress this dense feeling but I honestly really like it, and how it makes my body feel. I’ve been sleeping like a baby. I recommend it personally. Be warned, the sides are not as dense. Before my bf and I got our bed frame, he rolled right off the edge and onto the floor after getting too close to the edge. After that incident we made sure to stay inward a little more and it hasn’t been an issue since, even less now that we have our bed frame in use. ... show more
