Update: 3 years later, I still love this mattress. It’s held up, is supportive and comfortable and never sleeps hot. It’s been a very good buy for me. It’s a very good inexpensive mattress that has proven to be a great value. I replaced a 20+ year old Sleep Number mattress with this mattress. I've had it over a week now and love it. The mattress is medium firm, which I like. The top layer of gel-infused foam provides a bit of sink in comfort, but not to the extent that it's hard to move or change positions. Mine expanded to a full 12" within 2-3 hours of putting it on my bed (I kept the Sleep Number foundation on the bed under this mattress). I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain at all. My old Sleep Number mattress was giving me both. To give you an idea of the give in the top layer, I have attached a couple of pics of my dogs on the mattress. I will say, they LOVE the new mattress and I have a hard time getting my Pittie (Black & White pup) to get off of it. The Rottie/Shepherd weighs about 92 pounds and you can see, the mattress has a good amount of cushioning for joints and pressure points. It's been a GREAT buy! I will check back in 3 months and a year so I can say how the mattress holds up over time. Can't beat the price on this and I will be buying another one for my son soon. A month and a half later - STILL loving this mattress. It is still very comfortable. I sleep great. I don't think it sleeps hot. I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain. I bought a second one on Prime Day for my son. I don't think you can go wrong with this mattress. Four months later - this mattress is still great! My Pittie races me up the stairs to the bedroom and jumps in the bed first. When I'm at work, she sleeps on the bed. I love it. It's firm, yet comfy. I'm never hot and my room is the hottest room in the house during summer. I've recommended this mattress to all my friends and family. This has been an excellent value. 14 months later - This mattress has held up well over time. It’s still firm yet with enough cushion to be very comfortable. It has continued to be an excellent value for the money paid. No backaches or shoulder pain after sleeping on it. Both my son’s and my mattress are in excellent condition. The ZINUS 8 Inch Green Tea Cooling Gel Memory Foam Mattress has been a game-changer for me. As someone with chronic neck and back problems, I've struggled to find a comfortable mattress that doesn't exacerbate my pain. I used to wake up with aches and pains, but now I feel fully rested and refreshed. In fact, I sleep so well on this mattress that I find it hard to get up in the morning! The convenience of having the mattress shipped right to my door in a compact box was a huge plus. It fully inflated within a few hours, and there was no weird smell that I've experienced with other memory foam mattresses. I bought a Zinus mattress for my son a few years back after the dog wet his old bed. At the time I had a really expensive Tempurpedic and I remember laying on his bed and really liking how it felt. Fast forward a few years later and it was time to replace my Tempurpedic but I didn't want to spend too much as I'm in a bit of a temporary housing situation (renting an apartment I don't intend to stay in past the lease), so I went and bought a Zinus for myself and boy what a great decision that was! I love this mattress. It has the right amount of firmness and weight to it. I don't miss my Tempurpedic at all. No need to spend thousands more when, IMO, this is just as good. ... show more

I've started RVing full time. The first thing that had to go was the $20 mattress it came with. I got the 8" Gel foam in a short queen. It expanded to about 85% size in an hour, and took the next day to finish expanding. While it is worlds better than the cheap mattress it replaced, the ad calls this a medium level firmness. I weigh 275 pounds and I think I may sink in 1.5 inches. I keep wondering how something this firm can be this comfortable. It is a comfortable bed and works great for my needs, but if this is what they call 'Medium', I'd hate to see what they call firm... Concrete? I've had a few foam beds like this and the cooling gel works great. It doesn't sleep hot at all, and at my weight I'm susceptible to a hot bed. I'm thinking of finding a 2-3" gel topper to get just a little more plushness. If you like a firm bed, this is a great one for the price. ... show more

Everyone has their own definition of "firm", but of the many memory foam mattresses I've tried, this is the firmest. I bought the 12 inch queen. I've seen the reviews with tape measures, fiberglass and such; i wouldn't lose sleep (pun intended) over if this is 11 or 12 inches fully formed, doesn't really matter to me, it is exactly what I was hoping for in firmness and I love it. No issues with fiberglass either, keep the cover on as directed, most all mattresses have fiberglass or something on the bottom for fire safety. I got this mattress about a month ago. I let it expand 2 full days and have no issues with volume. I did put an extra waterproof mattress protector on it (read other reviews re: fiberglass pieces and that concerned me a tad). First night, I was worried it would be too firm. Since that night, I’ve slept well every night. I wake up with way fewer aches than on my previous mattress. Will say sometimes a little warm (a gentle fan makes that better). The mattress protector could be the heat problem. For me, the comfort of this mattress outweighs needing a fan. Would 100% buy again.
