I have to play around with the cord and right it just right and sometimes it will work. Like on the second Tuesday of every third month after a blood moon when the earth is perfectly aligned with Venus and I haven't built up any bad karma for over a week and I do a Mayan ritual that includes a sacrifice of a goat or a virgin. This cable permanently fried one of my MacBook Pro USB-C Controllers and since then two of my usb-c outlets have serious issues! Not only it’s a terrible product it’s dangerous. They offered a replacement for the cable but I don’t think they would offer to fix my $3500 laptop 😡

I had this delivered to me on Friday 3/20/20, so I’ve had it for only 3 days and used it once. I bought this cord to use in conjunction with a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cord I already own (by another brand), so I could connect my work’s MacBook Air to my home iMac. I’m currently working from home and wanted a bigger screen. I had this plugged in for maybe all of two minutes while searching for my other cord and immediately started to smell a chemical burning odor. I’m lucky both of my computers are still completely fine (the MacBook actually cut off power supply because it was drawing way too powerful of a charge). UPDATE: After trying a replacement, CableCreation sent me a different cable (link below), which fixed the issues I was seeing. I recommend buying this cable if using a USB-C MacBook Pro. https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-Thunderbolt-Compatible-Macbook-Chromebook/dp/B015RIVW06 --- Screen blacks out for 5 seconds a few times every day (works fine otherwise). I'll start using my computer and about 30 minutes to an hour later the first black out will happen - all while I'm still able to use my other screen & interact with the computer. Im sure it would have worked great for someone else. Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I have a MBP 2018 and LG Ultrafine 5k monitor. My work laptop is an HP Elitebook 840 G6. The original Thunderbolt 3 cable that came with the monitor works perfect with my MBP. Connects right away. I needed something similar to work for my work laptop on the same monitor. Since the USBC outlet on the HP Laptop is only 2.0 for standard charge, I thought the original Thunderbolt 3 cable that came with the monitor would not work. So I was searching high and low for USBC 3.1 going from the monitor into HDMI on the laptop. This cable was suppose to be it and worked for me. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. This is due to the fact that the USBC 3.1 is NOT the same as a Thuderbolt 3. It wasn't until I consulted with an Apple Specialist that they told me I needed Thunderbole 3 to make it work with the HP laptop and my LG monitor. They told me to look for anything with a thunderbolt symbol on it. That's how you tell. Coming back onto this product, it simply did not work for me because it did not have the capacity. So, I ended up getting it to work when I randomly (not sure why I did not do it earlier and eliminate the hassle for myself) plug in the original cable from the monitor, the Thunderbolt 3, into the USBC outlet on my HP Laptop that it worked. Not sure how it works when the USBC outlet is only a 2.0, but I guess Thunderbolt 3 did the trick. ... show more

I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing my review-- this is a very nice cable and does exactly as it promises- it connects my 15 inch Mac Book Pro 15 with touch bar to the external monitor. I see no lag nor color degradation compared to the Apple adaptor. I will say I am using in a professional design role going to a 4k display and would expect to have given it four stars at most based on other reviews, but they really did a nice job with this. It truly is one less adaptor that you need for your high end MBP. I would recommend that you go ahead and buy two when you order as you will wish you had otherwise. ... show more

Starting off with Durability, It isn't a Braided Cable but it seems pretty durable. the Ends of the cable dont feel they will wear anytime and both ends of work great! the cable does as expected I've plugged it into several devices and all of them work great! sometimes the image could be bigger than what it puts out but other then that it works well! Its been really nice for my use. Sharing info off my phone to a screen is really great in group settings. One time i had it plugged into the T.V. and an adult Tripped on the Cable ripping it out of the HDMI port. surprisingly both the port and the cable were fine and it continues to work great! so they are decently durable.
