I'm a long time Dewalt user of their tools. I've had the older NiCad 18v tools that I used with newer lithium ion batteries via a converter. Decided to get this set to replace the older tools. Advantages: - no adapter to use - no discharging of batteries due to adapter - less bulk - brushless motors - the older tools had brushes that you could smell when using them. Tools work well. The tools are great. Easy to use and high quality that should last me a lifetime with proper use. The battery system is the real seller here though. I was able to get a couple other Dewalt tools and lights that all work with the same batteries. There are even after market tools and gadgets made to work with the Dewalt batteries. Batteries are top quality, get a few different sizes to use with different tools. The lighter smaller batteries help keep weight down and the larger batteries work great when long power is needed, such as lights. Great system and the reason I switched from Bosch, Makita and Milwaukee to Dewalt. All these brands are top notch, but only the Dewalt allows so many different tools to be used. This review is to help inform a first-time buyer. What is an Impact Driver? - An Impact Driver is just an electric screwdriver on crack. It is capable of torquing whatever you want, however hard you want it. However like Uncle Ben once said: "With great power comes great responsibility." You will never ever ever have trouble screwing anything again with this tool. Just make sure that you are DELICATE with the trigger. You only need to hold it lightly like the gas pedal of a car to screw something in, and it will provide feedback once it has been screwed in all the way. The extreme power of an Impact Driver allows you screw bolts in FAST, which was the reason I got this. I own a StepManiaX arcade dance game machine, and unscrewing the hex bolts for the panels to perform cleaning and maintenance is an incredibly time consuming task when doing it by hand. A job that used to take 2 to 3 hours now takes 1 to 1.5 hours with this thing, as it cuts out the time of unscrewing all 40 hex bolts by hand. The main reason I chose this listing on Amazon is because it was $120 on Black Friday. You get a drill, a charger, and two batteries included too which is an amazing deal for $120. I noticed the other day though while at Home Depot looking for a big toolbox to store all this in (along with my other tools), that they sell an identical Impact Driver + Drill bundle with the "Atomic" versions for $150 (something to keep in mind, as this does not seem to be price matched by Amazon). So if you care about having the versions that are slightly lighter/smaller, I would recommend going there to purchase this kit. I don't care to return the bundle because it works great, and the grip feels very ergonomic (especially with the battery attached) so I don't feel like a loss of weight would affect my usage of the tools. ... show more

I love this drill set. I’ve been using mine for a little over a year and I like it so much that I bought a set for my son for Christmas. Plenty of power and torque and good battery life. I haven’t had any complaints at all!

I’ve been using Dewalt cordless drills & drivers for onto 40 years with good performance . I had a temporary loss of power on both batteries . This occurred after using a small brass brush to clean old paint off a 110 year old hand plane . After a short charge , the charger was indicating red solid light for full charge . The drill & driver were not getting power . I Left the batteries to charge overnight . They were back to full power the next day . The batteries are 3 years old with light use at home . ... show more

I purchase this in order to have battery operated drill and impact driver. When it arrived, I put the batteries to charge which didn't take any time at all and tried out each tool to find they are simply great. Well worth the money spent and looking forward to using them both.

I made a decision some years ago to buy quality at the expense of cost. As a result, most of my tools are Dewalt tools. These two tools are excellent, the battery life is excellent, the torque power is impressive, and in this case, I bought this kit on a Black Friday at a price that was the best I’ve seen. In all my Dewalt tools, I have only one major disappointment. I have a pistol grip screw gun, 8v. It was the handiest little battery powered tool I owed for a long while, until the original batteries played out. Apparently Dewalt decided to get out of this business and I can’t find off brand batteries that are of any use. I’ve bought three different brands and they all suck. So, if anyone at Dewalt reads this and wants to please this customer, you’ll help me find batteries that actually work or start making your owe again. ... show more
