Let me begin by noting that the lighter, beige color will not “blackout” the sunlight but reduces the light. If you want full blackout, go with a darker color. With that said, I LOVE these curtains and always comment this to my husband. I wanted to reduce the sunlight in our living room because where we live, in the summers the sun will heat the home pretty good. They work perfectly! I love that the light is diffused so that our living room is not super dark during the day. We love our sunny home but the heat can be too much in the summertime. We installed them during the peak of summer heat and immediately noticed a profound change in the temperature in our living room, I quickly purchased more for each room of our home. I used darker versions for other rooms for more sunlight to be blocked, especially the rooms where it shines the strongest because of fewer trees on that side. What surprised me was the winter time! My chair is next to a window and I am usually very cold. The curtains are sturdy and helped block the cold and I was warmer this past winter. I also wanted to check how much the curtains block the light from outside looking in. During the evening, I went outside, after dark, and I was amazed to see that even though they are beige they blocked the light from inside my home. So someone looking at my home would only see a small halo around the perimeter of the window to tell a light is on but cannot see how many of my lights are on. I like the color, they did wash nice(on cold) and dried(on low) without having to iron. Unfortunately, I found these rips(see pic) after drying. At first, I thought they were marks from my dryer, but after closer inspection, they are tears. They are on the side facing out. Not going to return as it was a chore to get them up myself(disabled). I have been in desperate need of finding a temporary solution to my neighbor’s “UFO lights” quality porch light that they tend to leave on well into the night. My bedroom window is a stone’s throw from their front door. It’s a little awkward. I’m sad to say that it took me months to be proactive about finding a temporary way to mitigate their flippin light flooding into my room, even with my blinds fully shuttered. Solution: tension rod & these curtains! A $30 fix that doesn’t require affecting the walls! I can take the rod & curtains with me when I move later this year! I just installed them tonight (took under 10 mins to do by myself) & I already know this is exactly what I need. I can open the curtains, blinds & window for sunlight & air during the day & close them up when I need some solid sleep & an additional layer of privacy. They look nice and work. They are honest that it's not 100% black out, and it varies by what color you pick. I took a fairly dark mocha (chocolate/brown). So far I am happy to get new curtains up. My vertical blinds broke and I wanted to put something nice up. I'm currently using a tension rod, but they are meant for a rod that hovers in front of the window. The only weird thing is, it dips in the middle (of each curtain) as if it is meant for a special rod. This would make sense if it was only 1 wider curtain to be put on a rod that makes the curtain hang in front. However, I don't have any problems. I will of course mention the product is made in China, so that takes points off as well. ... show more
