Description

Color:White Adjustable desk riser offers a healthy addition to any desk that allows you to sit or Stand while you work. The large, 31" x 20" work surface accommodates two monitors or a monitor and a laptop. Ergonomic keyboard tray moves up and down with the desk and moves out/in for the most comfortable position. Five height adjustments (up to over 16" above your desk) allow a comfortable standing position. Gas spring will allow you to easily move the desk up and down, even with your computer equipment. The media could not be loaded. I wasn't to sure about this to begin with. Similar products are about $100 more and are rated for only 35lbs, whereas this one says it could hold 50lbs. I have 4 monitors and a stand, totaling just over 40lbs. This surprisingly handles them like a champ. So telling me that I can get a product with more weight for cheaper, I'm all in. There's not much assistance in lifting the riser at first, however once you get a couple inches up, the pistons kick in and help assist you raising it the rest of the way. Same thing with going down. With this much weight, it's a slow decent at first, but will just drop quickly and thud if you were to let go with a few inches left. It's sturdy and handles fine though. Even without locking it, you can raise it all the way and push on it, without the riser going down, thought I would still lock it for prolonged use with this weight. I've only had it for a few days, so I'll update if anything happens to change my mind. Other than that, this is exactly what I was looking for at the right price. **update: two other people in my office have bought these since I did. After lots of research, this looked like the best of the cheaper convertible desk risers. Pretty happy with it. It's big enough for a couple of monitors, a big (back-lit gaming) keyboard, and has enough surface area for a mousepad and mouse when in the standing position. Not totally sure, but I think Lorell and Rocelco are the same company, from Canada, and the risers on Amazon from both companies are identical. I ended up buying this Lorell one because I was more confident in the dimensions depicted (the other one was more vague), and I think it was $10 or so cheaper at the time. It's heavy, doesn't really move around on the desk, and is fairly easy to manipulate, but not as easy as it looks like in the Rocelco commercial. The locking lever things in the back don't slide smoothly. They get stuck in the middle. Enough to where, when I want to change position, I don't just click and unlock it with a smile on my face as I gently urge the riser in the direction I want it to go. I go around the back, click each lock, then carefully lift it up or push it down (depending). I say 'carefully', because when lifting it, the pneumatic pumps don't respond immediately. It has to be pulled at the right angle, or you'll just start lifting the whole thing off the desk. Pushing it back down is easier than pulling it up. I've started noticing, too, that the plastic/vinyl edging is loose on the right side where my right hand pulls/pushes to change its position, so I'll have to fix that with some glue. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this contraption. Transitioning to a standing desk is a major life hack for someone working at a computer all the time. I bought this because I work from home in front of the computer all day. Sitting down all that time takes its toll and back when I worked at my workplace, I used a Varidesk riser and loved it. I don't have the funds for a Varidesk for my home office, but I needed something that would "do the trick" for the time being to help my lower back. This less expensive riser is the right size for my needs (The top shelf holds my dual monitors as well as the keyboard tray holds my Rollermouse and extra wide keyboard w/wrist wrest pictures attached). This riser lowers okay, but raising it up from it's closed position requires extra strength and is NOT easy. I read this in previous reviews and decided that it would be worth that inconvenience because of the price; however, it is really difficult to raise it without some measure of force and if you have a bad back of any kind, it may not be a wise decision for you to purchase this one as I think you could potentially injure your back further with the effort. I'm not a doctor, but I do have back problems and I didn't particularly enjoy the feel of having to jerk this riser up from its closed position just to get it to go up. Unfortunately, this is what I could afford right now. I do plan on saving my pennies to eventually purchase the Varidesk instead because it is a FIVE-STAR riser for sure. I just wish it wasn't so darned expensive! :( So for the following summary points on this riser: 1. Assembly required? No, comes assembled "out of the box" 2. Packaged very well! 3. Sized perfectly for the average computer user or office worker who uses two monitors (or less). 4. The Keyboard tray is long enough to fit bigger keyboards and potentially specialized mice (like my RollerMouse Pro). It may not be wide enough for both a keyboard and regular mouse though (I'm not sure). Keyboard tray measures: approx. 23.5" wide and 11.5" in depth if this is a concern you'll want to measure your space. 5. Wobbles only slightly when in the up position, but not enough to even be concerned unless you've got a ton of weight on the top shelf (I have a note pad or two, and usually a hot drink and a cold drink of some kind in addition to my monitors on the top shelf). 6. Ease of use: Biggest problem is raising it up from the closed position. Lowering it isn't as difficult 7. So far, when in the locked position, it does NOT move or give at all. So "locked" means locked. 8. Price is very reasonable considering the cost of other risers of its kind. It's stability helps make the cost worthwhile. If they could improve the ease of raising it without causing added physical strain to the user, that would easily make this riser a FIVE STAR review. The difficulty in raising this riser is what cost it two stars in my opinion. ... show more
