The majority of the reviews are highly positive, praising the device's strong performance and ability to produce excellent smoked foods, such as turkey legs, ribs, chicken thighs, and more. Notably, the product's temperature control mechanism is reliable, and it comes with a handy thermometer. However, based on one review, there appear to be initial hurdles when trying to find the 'sweet spot' for the heat and smoke mechanism.

Pros

  • πŸ– Efficient and provides excellent results with different types of food
  • πŸ”₯ Strong temperature control and additional thermometer
  • πŸ’§ Incorporates a useful water tray for moisture management
  • 🍎 User-friendly, making it suitable even for newbies

Cons

  • πŸšͺ Some users reported issues with the door alignment, causing smoke leakage
  • 🎚 The analog model requires babysitting for temperature regulation

Should I Buy It?

Generally, this compact outdoor smoker delivers an efficient performance and the majority of users recommend it. There are a few minor concerns but they don't seem to drastically affect the product's overall performance. So, if you're a barbeque enthusiast looking for a reasonably priced, user-friendly smoker, this could be a great choice.

  • Smokes very well
Style: Smoker
I bought this to go on top of my BBQ counter next to my outside BBQ station. It's small enough that it fit perfectly next to my outdoor stove top and BBQ station. It made amazing Turkey legs, Tri Tip, Sausages, chicken thighs, and Ribs. Adding Apple Juice to the water pan was a great touch, and realized you really don't have to soak the wood chips before hand for this model. It seemed it wasn't as smoky when I soaked them vs. just putting dry chip in. ... show more

  • Cook'n Low & Slow
Style: Smoker
So far I've smoked chicken, pork loin & ribs, salmon and almonds. The all came out great. The temperature controller holds the temp steady irregardless of ambient temp. Has a wide temperature range, easily gets to 350Β° if you need something that high. The thermometer in the door is very helpful in getting your temp to desired level. I checked the temp out with an IR thermometer and it was pretty much matching the door thermometer although there is a variance from the top (cooler) to the bottom (warmer). Use the included water pan to help keep moisture in the smoker. The double door latches are a big plus, keeps it tight to the body. The box is big but everything was well packed, requires some easy assembly. Very pleased and glad I bought this one. ... show more

  • GOOD - BUT NOT GREAT - ENGINEERING
Style: Smoker
After comparing this smoker to similar brands, we chose this one for several reasons: it's excellent insulated walls and newly re-engineered chip & water trays. The large chip tray is big enough for 6-7 hours of smoking, though the new large water tray will still probably need refilling. We expected a learning curve to be able to adjust the analog heating plug so it held a low and slow temp for smoking - but immediately discovered that it was difficult to find a 'sweet spot' that kept the analog plug hot enough to keep the wood chips smoking. If you had enough heat to keep the chips burning, you had too much heat to properly smoke at 200-225. The unit began billowing smoke very good very quickly, but the top vents don't have any way to close them down - so all the smoke pours out of the top. Not only can you not keep the smoke in the box, but you can't adjust the air intake to control the smoldering chips. Not enough air and the 'fire' in the chips goes out, and the smoking quits. (I suspect the lack of an air vent in the bottom of the unit, to cause an air flow up, through and out of the top, is one of the reasons that the chips don't properly smolder.) (TIP TO OTHER BUYERS: Line the chip box with a little metal grate, handful of nuts and bolts, or something to allow AIR to come into the box and keep the chips glowing. And - consider a bit of foil to partially block the top vents. We'll be doing that on the replacement that we're getting.) The kicker, however, was the DAMAGE that had been done to the unit - probably at the TIME OF IT'S MANUFACTURE & ASSEMBLY. The front right top corner of the door frame had been bashed in enough that the door didn't seal properly, and smoke leaked out - more than where it was supposed to vent out. Curious - the unit was almost completely assembled, with only minor things like installing legs and handles needing to be screwed on. HOWEVER, the assembly manual indicated that other bits and pieces had to be attached to the unit - as an example, screwing in the thermometer to the outside of the door, for instance....but that had already been done to this unit. It made me wonder if the unit had been delivered to someone else previously, then returned - and shipped out again to us. While we chose the analog version (like plugging in the heating element into your pancake grill) for economy, we decided that we were too old to babysit a smoker for several hours to keep the temperature in the proper range -- and beyond the age, also, to enjoy a 'cold one' while we sat and watched the smoke waft into the air. So, we grudgingly forked over the nearly $100 more to go 'digital'. Amazon is allowing us to return the unit.. We would have purchased the digital version of the smoker (with a solid black insulated door) from Amazon - but they curiously had only the glass door version...and those weren't going to be shipped for 1-2 MONTHS!. We did find the black door digital version at 'WM' - at a very good price - and expect to receive it tomorrow - three days after we ordered it - which is faster than the week's wait we had via Prime 'two day' shipping. We're disappointed in our experience with this purchase - normally Amazon and it's vendors are 'top notch'. But, we are looking forward to 'set it and forget it' smoking this weekend! ... show more

  • This thing just works! Buy it!
Style: Smoker
As a newbie to smoking, I bought a unit that was damaged but usable in every way and saved about 1/3 of the cost. The damage was minimal and cosmetic. Heck, I don't care what it looks like, I just want something that works! I applied the savings to chips, cover and thermometer. I live in an area that suffers frequent but short term power outages which steered me away from the digital units. When the power goes out for a few seconds before the generator kicks in, I don't have to worry about resetting or damaged electronics. It just starts back up where it left off. I also like the dual latches so the door stays evenly pulled closed. I don't tote my smoker around much but the handles make it easier to move. I do wish it came with a fourth rack but 3 is ok and depending on what you are smoking size wise, you may only need one. Inside smoking dimensions are roughly 12"d x 15"w x 22". I also like that the internal surfaces are pretty flat, including the shelf guides - makes clean up much easier! I had never smoked before but this thing makes it very easy! In the three months I have owned it, I have smoked hams, ducks, chicken, turkey, leg of lamb (bone in and was perfect!) hamburgers & chops and never disappointed! The temperature gauge on my unit runs about 10 degrees cool, but that is OK, its close enough. I recommend getting a 4 probe remote temperature sensor - you can get a good one for about $30 and saves you from having to open the door (letting the heat out) to check the temperature of your food. You can check it from pool :) I always wipe a bit of oil on the room temperature racks before placing meat on them and then popping it in to into the pre-heated smoker. Pre-heating is pretty quick and faster if you you hot water in your water tray. Once up to temperature, the outside stays relatively cool (ok, warm) and can be touched without being burned. Now the things that could be improved: Longer legs (or you will need something to set it on). A tad more air space for the chips to smoke just a bit more. Self cleaning feature could be better (kidding) Its "ok" to clean up if you don't let the dirty racks sit around for long. I do place foil just about the water and chip pans which helps a lot!. This is a good smoker and works without fuss. I recommend it highly. A year in... I have used this EVERY weekend! No issues, no problems. I did buy a (sold seperate) cold smoker unit so i could smoke cheese, rice and yes, pasta! ) it really is a GREAT low entry smoker! I actually bought a second one for our cabin. It is THAT good! ... show more

  • This is a great smoker.
Style: Smoker
This smoker is a good size for small space. I owned a large smoker and had to give it away. This smoker work as good as the large one I had. Only thing about this smoker is the racks are too tight to remove. I'm glad I purchased it.
