  • It's A Keeper.
Style: Premium Grill
03/29/'21 Used the grill a few times since last entry. Happy with the grill pit. Even more happy I no longer care about loss of heat/smoke leakage from rear mating surface. It's a grill pit. I decided to modify my old heavy duty 25y offset pit instead of replace it. Fire box was removed (deteriorated) and deep sixed and the door to firebox (good condition) was reattached to the main body (great condition). That should last another 10-20y. Meanwhile the DYNA-GLOW grill is working as it was meant for. Grilling, (needed improvements). It's a keeper, long as we clean it out after each use and covered when not in use we'll be able to enjoy for years to come. 03/06/'21 New entry, used the pit early today to grill some burgers and dogs. Happy with that, but later for dinner was when I noticed all the leakage even after applying a seal. Specifically the back of lid mating surface. Thought one strip would be enough all around but considerable amount of heat/smoke from there including the chimney which doesn't completely close. Other charcoal doors were sealed as well. From this point I'm following an earlier entry that provided important tips on sealing up this nice looking pit. That it is and seems DYNA-GLOW was shooting for when this pit was approved for manufacturing. Looks great, leaks more than it should and also be an indication for a lack of ees experienced personnel to test these bad boys (really bad). On a higher note there is help plus taking the time to seal this bugger. For me, lesson learned. A heavy duty smoker grill (like my last offset model lasted 25yrs), will be my next purchase. This DYNA-GLOW was made for grilling. Signing off, time to eat. 03/01/'21 Overall easy to assemble. Thankful none of the parts were damaged during transit or missing. All the parts fit as according to instructions. Haven't used it yet, but on a good note, I ordered it last week and it wasn't slated to arrive until 6 April but low and behold this past Saturday morning it was sitting on our front porch. Had it assembled today but a word of caution becareful installing the Thermometer, though rare, I didn't expect the stem to be so thin it broke off before tightening rendering it useless. I bought it off "Great Dealz 4 U" and even though they were willing to replace the pit 100% all I needed was the thermometer. Since they carry no replacement parts policy was to disassemble the entire pit, rebox, and they'd cover shipping. I was happy with that offer (and will keep them in mind), but disassembling the entire pit for one single replacement part didn't make sense. So I thanked "Ron" and decided to buy a thermometer from DYNA-Glow or from Amazon inventory. Kudos to "Great Dealz 4 U and a "👍" for offering complete replacement. As far as performance of the pit, that'll come later after this weekend. One more thing, not sure if Amazon already had the pit in stock or if Great Dealz 4 U pulled a rabbit out of a hat, but I sure do appreciate the unexpected very early delivery.👍👍👍👍👍 ... show more

  • My Second Favorite Grill
Style: Premium Grill
8 years ago I needed to replace my old grill. My decision was between the Dyna Glo here and the Char Broil CB940X. I bought the Char Broil and love it. However, I still wound up needing another grill and decided to give the Dyna Glo that I didn't choose before a shot. Great grill! Assembly was easy and only took a couple hours. I was able to do it myself, but I'm really tall and have long arms. You may need someone to assist. I bought some grill tape to keep a tight seal on the lid to retain heat. Boy does this thing hold heat with the grill tape. I also like the ceramic grill grates. Unfortunately, Dyna Glo doesn't make this grill anymore and you can only get it from secondary vendors. I had to order this grill 3 times! The first vendor had a flooded warehouse so they couldn't send it. I reordered it through a second vendor but they said the unit they had was damaged. I finally got it from a third vendor. There aren't many more of these out there, so if you want a bigger grill (4 grates as opposed to 3) be vigilant and get it fast before they're all gone forever. ... show more

the overall product is good. i have used it a few times now. the temp held pretty good. it did show up with a couple dings and dents. i did have to use a couple of pipe clamps to squeeze the fire box together so the grill grates wouldnt fall straight through. i do like that the charcoal grates go up and down which helps with the temp. plus thr is 2 grates and they both go up and down independently. i would tell friends to buy it but just be prepared for minor dings and dents. i also put a strip of fire proof insulation around the fire box where the lid comes down to help hold the temp. ... show more

  • A great grill and even better smoker with modification (instructions included).
Style: Premium Grill
I bought this because I wanted to be able to grill at high heat, while at the same time barbeque with indirect heat, and occasionally smoke meat at a low 225 - 250 degrees. Inherently, this is a great grill for grilling and barbequing at the same time due to the two zone cooking, but you will not be able to get below 400 degrees without modifications. There are too many air leaks which feeds the fire and makes it too hot for smoking. I knew this when I purchased this grill because I did extensive research and planned on doing some simple modifications to control the heat. Well guess what, it worked very well. I can now get the heat down to 250 degrees for several hours. With about $50 dollars worth of supplies, you can turn this grill into an awesome smoker. I cannot find a combo grill, bbq, and smoker for under $300 that will perform this good. Below are the steps I took to improve this grill. Supplies Needed: 2 rolls of 15 ft self-stick Nomex (.875 x .5 inch Lavalock is what I used); a tube of high heat food grade silicone (the red kind); 2 sheets of 6 in x 11 in sheet metal and screws ( to cover the damper). Step 1: Assemble the grill per the instructions. Seal anything that attaches to the fire box with the silicone (screws, smoke stack, and thermometer). There will also be small holes in the corner of the firebox door you will need to seal and the welds along the lid. Do not install the dampers, you will not need them. Step 2: Attach the sheet metal pieces to inside of the grill to cover the damper holes. The dampers are part of the problem with this grill because they don’t close properly so we must seal them to reduce the heat. Step 3: Seal up the grill with Nomex Strips. Apply the Nomex strips around the Lid and on the grill where the lid touches when it closes. Apply Nomex strips around the firebox door openings, and under the grill on the back where the ash catcher and bottom of grill. True up the lid by loosening/tightening the hinges. Step 4: Line the ash catcher with foil for easy clean up. Follow instructions for seasoning the grill and do your first burn off. This will allow you to see if there are any leaks you missed because smoke will be coming out of it. Operating instructions: Now that the grill is sealed, you should be able to maintain a 250 degree temperature with everything closed. Even after sealing, there are still enough air gaps to slightly feed the fire, but not extinguish it. To increase the heat, you can slightly pull out the ash catcher which gives you air from the back bottom, crack open the firebox door which gives you air from the front, and open the flute to get the air moving across the grill. I had to cut off the top stopper on the flute to allow the flute to close all the way. To use this as a smoker, you will put your charcoal and soaked wood on the right side with a pan of water on the grates. Your meat goes on the left side with a drip pan under. This will let the smoke move across the meat since the smoke stack is on the left side. I hope this helps. ... show more
