I like pools of light that highlight specific areas and I bought these to use under my kitchen cabinets to avoid using overhead lights and electricity all the time. Great light, super easy to install and loved the effect and illumination. Just what I wanted! The battery life however is a drawback if you want to leave them on for long lengths of time . So I did purchase rechargeable batteries and a charger to use with these because of this. I left them on full time at night to test the battery life and they did last for a night or two then started to dim with the constant use. They were still giving the lower light for several more days - about a week - then not effective. So started thinking how I could use these more effectively and functionally throught the house instead of just for the "effect" . Linen closet! I have to turn on the hall light to see in this closet and have used a flashlight to find things! I have no wall surface inside the closet so I installed one strip vertically on the trim facing inside the door, stringing the light downward with the switch at the top. Be sure to face the lights towards the closet interior so you don't blind yourself when you turn them on! This worked GREAT! illuminating all 4 areas of the closet and the switch is not in the way. You only turn it on when you need to get something so it is not constantly on and the batteries will last a long time and have. It's portable and you can adjust it to your height and reach, no tools needed - just stick it on and then "click it"! 2nd area I installed was in the laundry room - under the cabinet over the washer and dryer. Gives me enough light to store or find things I keep in there, do laundry, whatever I need to do without having to use the electricity. I just "click it" when I go in there and "click it" again when I leave. Not on constantly so the batteries will last a long time and have. I bought a set for my sister and she took it a step further and installed her set "inside her lower kitchen cabinets"! What a wonderful idea! You can hardly see what's in these bottom shelves much less retrieve it! My lower kitchen cabinets are very dark & have those corners that you can't even get to (they needed the turn-table devices installed when built) so my lower kitchen cabinets are going to be illuminated too and very shortly! I thought about the products with motion detection but read that might tend to drain the batteries quicker (thanks to another reviewer!) since they would constantly be coming on/going off when the doors were opened for the cabinet or when walking into the room so decided against that feature and why it is not reviewed. This is a great product that has a lot more uses then kitchen cabinets. Anywhere you may have a dark nook, book shelves, workshop or area that just needs a light once in a while - these work great and no electricity is required, very portable and flexible to use. I even thought these would work in boats that have those areas under the hull and along the sides for storage. I personally really enjoy having these - for me just made life a little bit brighter in the right areas! ... show more

I’ve been g an answer for a light over a laundry room sink with a cabinet above. Last try was a motion stick- like light. Way too dim, motion detector was very poor—$20 wasted. This does the trick and the switch mechanism is just great. The light is dimmer than our wired kitchen under counter lights but is totally fine for this battery powered application ... show more

Our kitchen doesn't get much natural light so I ordered these for under the cabinets. Installation was easy. Adhesive works well. Easy to cut to size. I like that they are battery operated and battery replacement will not be difficult. They look really nice and provide a nice glowing light onto the countertop. The reason for only 4 stars is that I ordered soft white and got bright white. I didn't really care till I ordered another set for behind the TV and saw the difference. I removed the bright ones under the cabinets and replaced with the soft white which looks even better, then put the bright white behind the TV. Yes, a bit of super glue was involved since of course they weren't as sticky after being removed Anyhow, I made it all work and am very happy with the result. ... show more

I put these under a kitchen cabinet so I could light up the counter space under it without having to turn on the kitchen light. These things are great. I don't leave them on so I don't waste battery, only use them as long as it takes me to make a cup of coffee or take my meds. Easy to install, and they stay put. I don't see any issue with getting the battery compartment open if you install them right. I bought the "warm white" set and it is just the right amount of light for what I need. I'm SO glad I stumbled upon these lights! I placed it under my custom desk and now I can see all my pens and art supplies which I store in arcrylic cases. I love that it's battery-operated so I don't need to run more unnecessary cords. The LED lights give off just enough light without being blinding bright or too dark. Easy to install with the adhesive that is nice and strong. The lights are brighter than I thought they would be, which is a good thing. I am using them for under shelf lights on a desk and they work great.
