  • Insanely great value for money
Insanely great value for money. Picture quality is fantastic and has immediately elevated my photography to another level at a price I could afford. Many other cameras require too large of an investment in lenses to make the most of the equipment. Canon EOS-M lenses are affordable throughout the entire line. Yes, you don't have as much flexibility in use cases as with the professional Canon lenses, but you can always use an adapter if needed. But I recommend sticking with the EOS-M lenses; they represent great value for money especially if you can get them in good condition used. They are also so small and lightweight. This camera is simply a pleasure to take outside and play around with. I highly recommend the EOS-M Compact 22mm lens, which is small and great fun to shoot with. (https://www.amazon.com/Canon-EF-M-Compact-System-Fixed/dp/B008NF8BRI). The OLED viewfinder is fantastic. The articulated touch screen is fantastic. The battery is small and gets around 200-250 pictures on a single charge, so I recommend buying an extra. The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth wireless camera sync sounded like a good idea but in practice I have found it eats too much battery life to be useful. I do not use this camera for video but it seems quite capable, excepting the additional cropping factor when shooting 4K. If you're an amateur photographer looking to create professional-quality photographs at an affordable price, buy this camera now! ... show more

  • Great camera
This camera is awesome. Great picture quality and easy to use

  • Really good for 1080, 4K not so much
What an awesome product I used a m to EF lens adapter and it works like a charm, the 4K is a little bit cropped so it is unusable for vlogging in 4k but 1080 is fine for vlogging. If you're using a zoom lens 4K does really well for those kind of things. The battery seems to be better than my t6i so far. ... show more

  • Very happy.
My wife is very happy with this camera. Picture quality is excellent and much lighter than a traditional DSLR. We use it for nature photography and not much video. We upgraded from the Canon EOS T6 and was a very good upgrade.

  • Complicated menu options
I used to take and even develop photos back in high school fifty years ago, but not so much since. Back then you could only change ISO by using different film and you had to use a light meter to set aperture. The main problem I have with the M50 is there are so many menu options and it's hard to hold the camera without changing them. I'm constantly turning off autofocus, for example. The good news is I've found that my best photos are accidental. The selection of accessories and lenses is pretty limited for what was supposed to be a widely popular system. ... show more

  • 4K not a big deal breaker! 7DMKII replacement
I love this small package of a powerhouse! I sold my Canon 7D MKII because I was tired of lugging around such heavy gear all the time. It kept me from shooting but having such a small camera, and plenty of batteries, makes it easy to constantly use it as well as it’s easy app connectivity to your phone. Awesome camera! ... show more

  • It's excellent on paper but very difficult to use in actuality
This thing pops out of 4k without telling you. You'll get home from a shoot and realize that your footage somehow, in the middle of filming went from 4k to 1080. It also doesn't allow you to use non-canon lenses by way of Canon blocking software. Very irritating how Canon manipulates their gear so that nothing works unless you are using everything Canon. ... show more

  • Absolutely a game changer for my photography
I’ll start by saying that I upgraded from a Canon T5, 16 megapixel, three frames per second, with a very limited auto focus. I do mainly bird photography landscapes and some portraits. This is only the second camera I’ve owned. But coming from a county five it is leaps and bounds better. Navigation Through the menu is a breeze. Very intuitive. I have taking a few hundred photos during one session and I am amazed at the ISO performance the excellent auto focus and someone Disappointed by the battery life, but that was to be expected. ... show more
