  • Samsung Q7 75” (2018 Version)
Size: 75-Inch Style: TV
NOTE: This is going to be a long review. I purchased this TV just under a year ago and believe it’s time to post a review. Background – I have always been a huge Samsung supporter and every TV and speaker I have purchased over the past ten plus years have been Samsung. While I did encounter several software update issues over the years with the other TVs they were tolerable and never caused too many issues and I still own those TVs today and are working fine. This TV - When the TV was delivered I had a friend assist me with unboxing and mounting it on the wall using the Samsung No Gap Wall Mount – this TV is quite heavy and really requires two people to setup. After putting it on the wall and turning it on I realized that it had a thin blue line running down the left side. My first reaction was to contact Samsung directly and their customer support tried doing a remote software update to see if it would resolve the issue – it did not. Samsung customer support said they would have someone contact me to schedule a service rep to come to my home within 24 hours to troubleshoot the problem; they even admitted that this problem seemed to be prominent with the QLED TVs that were manufactured in 2018. When I did not hear back from them within 24 hours I decided I would return it to Amazon as a faulty system and have them replace it. Amazon said that since I had already mounted the system on my wall and now that I had no one to assist with removing it and reinstalling the replacement I would need to pay someone to remove and install the new one (this cost me $100 on top of paying $3,000 for the TV that was faulty!) – still a better option than having Samsung troubleshoot the problem and potentially missing my window for returning it. Once I got the new system installed it appeared to be working properly and I did not have too many issues over the past year. I would periodically have issues with the updates, I even had to contact Samsung a few times to do a remote check on the TV but for the most part, while time consuming, the issue was resolved. Last night something happened that shut off the TV and it would not come back on – I tried everything from unplugging it to disconnecting all external components from it, checking cables, checking my wireless connection, etc. and nothing seemed to work. Again, I contacted Samsung – I did not have the model code or serial number handy so they asked that I contact them after I found it, they said it was on the side of the back panel of the TV, which it is NOT and I still don’t know where it’s located on the TV itself. However, what I do know and recommend anyone who purchases this TV (or any new Samsung TV) is to immediately do the following: 1) Go to: Settings; 2) Support; 3) About this TV; 4) take a photo of this screen with your phone and put it somewhere safe. This will provide very helpful in the future if you have issues. Oddly, even though the TV forces you to create a Samsung account to get the TV operational, Samsung does not seem to grab this information from the TV which I find odd. Back to Samsung customer support – I got lucky and was able to get the TV to turn on for long enough to grab this information before it turned off again, I then proceeded to call Samsung back with the Model Code and Serial Number. They then told me that they would again send out a customer service representative to troubleshoot the issue as it is still under the 1 year warranty period. I tried several times after getting off the phone with Samsung to start the TV with no luck. The next day I tried again and it worked for about 15 minutes and then shut off again. About half an hour later I tried again and it actually worked for a couple of hours before I decided to turn it off. Since then it seems to be working normally. I also noticed that the TV was updated with a new software update last night when the issues started at 8:36 PM. While I am quite certain the software update caused the problem, I do not understand why the TV started working again. Samsung customer support is terrible – they should know when a software updates cause problems, they should know how long it takes for the updates, they should display a message that an update is about to happen. Samsung recommends that you select the auto-update feature on the TV which I did until now but I have now disabled it – this should allow better control as to when the update is going to happen and then if the TV stops working after the update is installed at least you will know what caused the problem. Samsung customer support claimed that I probably pinched the “One Connect” cable and needed to replace it – I explained that the TV has not been moved since it was installed and was working fine so I did not believe this was the problem. The bottom line is that even though the TV has a great picture when it works, the headache that Samsung software and customer support creates is enough for me to start looking for other manufacture options in a television. Very sad situation and if you google the Q Series television issues on the web, I am not unique. What a shame – such a great television with such terrible software and customer support. ... show more

  • Spectacular and Jaw Dropping!
Size: 55-Inch Style: TV
The media could not be loaded. This is my second Samsung 4K TV. The first one was a 2016 model that had some visible flaws in the screen and a great picture. I knew that 4K had to be even better than what the 2016 model was putting out, even with a Samsung 4K Bluray Player I was underwhelmed slightly, everyone else was glued to the TV. Introducing the 2018 Samsung QN55Q7FN FLAT 55” QLED 4K UHD 7 Series Smart TV at a whopping $2500.00...No thank you! I waited and watched and waited and watched the price drop meanwhile I compared the new 2019 Samsungs, was not impressed! The price finally dropped to a $1000 and I jumped on it why? Let me tell you! No gap wall mount! My friends are blown away by how it sits flush with the wall! One connect invisible connect! Where are all the cords my friends ask? I show them the fiber optic line and they still refuse to believe that the power and all my other goodies run through that line. Ambient Mode! My TV blends into the wall as if it is not there! My friends went to the tv slid their hand behind the TV and said why can't I see my hand, I can see the wall and they were in disbelief! Stunning 4K Clarity the likes I have never seen in a big box store or on my wall before! The Apollo 11 (2019) movie on bluray (not 4K) was the first movie I played for my friends on the TV and they were astonished, gobsmacked and awed by the supreme quality of the movie not wanting to take their eyes off the screen! The colors pop like no other TV the size of the TV at 55" and mounted on the wall is like having your own poor mans theatre! add to it the Samsung sound bar and woofer and BOOM! Ease of use! This TV is made so a child can operate it, I think that Samsung took a bunch of ques from Apple and knocked it out of the park! The UI is easy, fast and informative, you simply select what you want displayed on the search bar and you go there. There are informative suggestions for movies and apps that I think add to the exploration of the TV and not as a commenter said "garbage bloatware" If you don't want so called ads don't buy this tv, they are here but not so much I think of ads but whats on TV and movies or different apps to make your life and TV more enjoyable. I 100% purchased the 4 year extended warranty to protect my purchase, its a no brainer! 5 years total with the one year manufacturer warranty and I think that at this quality and to be honest with you stylishly hot! TV! breaking it down for you penny pinchers (me too) it comes out to $1.64 a day over the next 5 years for spectacular enjoyment! This is a new way for me to justify spending my hard earned money! Protect your investment, don't get burned! Get the no gap wall mount and be sure to use the level on the part that the TV hangs from not on the mount itself, I found that mine wasn't level, but when I adjusted for where the TV hangs it came out perfectly level. The freedom of being able to place the one connect box anywhere in my room is truly liberating. This TV is art! From the Moment I peeled off the heavy duty protective layering on the screen I bubbled inside with joy and excitement and was not disappointed! Check out my not so 4K video of the ambient mode "water" the sounds are accompany the "water" effect and can be turned down, up, off, etc... Enjoy! ... show more
