I am now working from home and will be permanently, at least through 2020. I needed to get out of my kitchen but I had limited space to do an immediate change to another area with a desk. So I reviewed various "SMALLER" desks to fit an area in my living room for now. I always review the customer reviews prior to purchasing, which can tend to confuse you. I hardly EVER right reviews but after receiving my desk yesterday and having it set up today, I feel inclined to help those that may be in the same boat as I was. First and foremost, DO NOT believe anyone that tells you this is hard to assemble! My husband started it while I went grocery shopping, without reading the directions and it was set up and ready by the time I got home 30 minutes later. Now as far as SIZE, well I sure hope anyone that is considering a purchase would do their homework and MEASURE their area. In my instance I needed exactly the length and width that this desk is. Therefore, if the size is a surprise to you or doesn't meet your standards, you clearly didn't read the specs or measure the area in your home. This desk has NO surprises. I paid $90 for the Faux Birch and I love it!!! And it met the expectations I needed. So please if this desk and it's specifications are what your looking for, BUY IT. If you are looking for a larger desk, please do your homework. If you have trouble putting it together, well I"m not really sure what to say.... LOL ... show more

I bought this for my daughter and she was a bit apprehensive about this desk at first but once we assembled it (which took all of ten minutes and was easy) she was very pleased. It's a perfect sized desk for a student or small home office and for the price it can't be beat. It looks very nice and semi modern. My only concern is the top of the desk, especially in the middle, is not as solid and sturdy as I would like but as long as you don't put your weight on it to use as leverage when you get up it is fine. ... show more

Edit: adding a star because it’s been 6 months and the unit is still holding up well and i love the way it looks. *original review* I ordered the “ice white” color , and the pictures are pretty spot-on , color wise. Pros: Easy to assemble Fairly sturdy Cons: -the metal sheeting that goes around the rods were already corroding , and the edges were unfinished on some, causing sharp edges and long sharp splinters (which drew blood when it stabbed and sliced my hand). -The thin backing for the vertical panels are very flimsy and brittle. The long one was broken while pulling it out of the box. -Even with “proper” packaging, there were still dents and dings on the shelves. I wasn’t expecting the finest piece of furniture, but i have owned similar pieces in the past (other brands of “no tools needed” laminated particle board type pieces), and those never had the same problems that this piece has. I contacted amazon about these issues, and they were able to offer a small discount, but even with the discount i feel that this piece is still over priced. From a distance the unit looks nice, but it wont take long for the metal on the rods to corrode even further. Another annoyance (but a manageable one) is how loose some of the vertical panels are. A light nudge of the unit and you can hear it rattle. Normally i wouldn't mention such a small issue, but considering everything else about this piece, i figured i probably should. Specs: The long shelf has just under 4”of space (height wise) for storage. So if you have item that is exactly 4 inches tall that you want to put in that long shelf, it’s probably not going to fit. The other shelves are 8” wide between each rod. Middle shelves are slightly under 9” high of usable space. Bottom shelves are at about 13.5” high of usable space. I was looking for a writing desk for my bedroom. I am so happy that I purchased this item. Such a beautiful, sturdy piece of furniture. Perfect fit for my bedroom under the window. Easy to assemble and will break down beautifully when I move. It also arrived two days ahead of schedule!

Zero star! We opened the box close to our bed and put the parts on our bed to start to assemble it and we recognized some stuff sticking to all parts of this product! it was glass wool (glass fibers)! After opening the box these crazy materials were all over our place and we had to clean the floor, the bed, our clothes and any things in the area! It took us like 2 hours to wash all the parts in the bathroom and bring them back to assemble it. We did not return it because already we had all these glass fibers in our place and had to clean it! It was so so so disappointing! It was too much pain to clean our place from these glass fibers that had been all over this product and stuck to our place and cloths! It may harm our health it can go to our food or if you breathe these glass fibers it can be harmful! The company can be sued for this! ... show more

Because of COVID had to start remote working. Was not perfect being in my living room, but finally fiured this reality will be going on for awhile. Bought this desk for my bedroom office. Is the best size for my laptop monitor and lamp. Love the other storage shelves. Perfect height for my chair. Although with arms it will not go under the desk, so keep that in mind if you have a small space with the armed chairs. Before chair came, was using dining room chair which fit perfectly under the desk. Easy put together, about 15 mins. Perfect for my needs. Would buy again definitely.
