  • Great budget option for casual users, horrible packaging/instructions.
Color: Black 2
I'm going to echo what a couple others have said. It's a great budget option, but I wouldn't trust it at the advertised maximum. Luckily, for a casual user, that's never going to be a problem. If you're a big enough fitness buff that you need to be hitting the maximum allowed weight on this thing, you should probably be investing in a higher-end set of equipment for your hobby. I had no problems with the frame being rickety. As with any piece of equipment like this, you have to make sure to use two wrenches to fully tighten all the nuts/bolts. If you tighten from only one side, it'll be a little loose. That said, I wouldn't do dips/pullups/etc on it without having a bar racked. Even if the frame itself is properly tightened, it's light enough that the whole thing will wobble a little unless you have some added weight holding it down. Lastly, as far as feedback on the unit itself, I agree that the rack is rather awkward and narrow when doing bench presses. Have shimmy my hands to widen the grip or take extra care that I don't pinch the side of my hands when I rack/unrack the bar. Not a huge deal, but I can definitely see the complaint. Now, while I'm happy with the unit itself, I've a lot of criticism for the packaging and instructions. The box it arrived in was beaten and weathered, and... well it smelled like rat piss. I work in a warehouse/production plant, and one of the companies that we get our pallets from has a rat problem. I'm familiar with the smell. Setting that aside, the contents had definitely been knocked around little. Most of them are metal, so not likely to break, but about half the zip ties holding it together had snapped and the contents had jostled around. I got lucky. The only piece I found outright broken was a little cover for the joint where the bench folds up when not lying flat. And it's a cosmetic piece. But it did beat up the frame just enough that inserting the base extenders was a real pain. And assembly was way more of a headache than it needed to be. The instructions warn that the images may differ from the final product, and they're not kidding. Most of the differences are minor, but the big thing to watch out for is the vertical parts of the main frame ("Part G" in the instructions). The original ones seem to have been interchangeable, but the ones shipped are definitely *not*. The joint connecting them to the bar with back pad ("Part A") was changed and if the two are the wrong sides, it won't fit together. And it is a bit of a nitpick, but as someone who just moved, I have yet to get a full set of tools. The pair of wrenches provided are *barely* up the the task. They're about as thick as most washers, and by the time I finished tightening everything, they were bent enough to start slipping off the bolts/nuts. Speaking of washers, the ones provided are very thin. Rather than have one on the side with the bolt and one on the side with the nut, I doubled them up on the bolt, as I feared they might otherwise bend while tightening. Looking closely, I'm pretty sure I was right. I made sure to tighten them well, true... but they did bend a little, even doubled up. But yeah.... in summary... the product's still great, at least for the price. Can do a lot of exercises with it and it doesn't take up much space. ... show more

  • Okay for "Beginners"
Color: Black 2
Picked this bench out with my adult sons for the whole family to use. It has wound up being less than we expected. Truly wish I had purchased something else. Here are some reasons why, starting upon arrival of the package. - Metal parts were held together with flimsy little zip ties, I am sure that was to keep them from banging around into each other during transport. However, some ties broke. This lead to some scuffing on some metal AND we had a plastic piece smashed up. I emailed the company upon discovery of this months ago and still have not heard back. - Bench/Tower is not very sturdy. Pretty sure it will not tip though. - The Barbell racking does NOT safely work with Olympic Bars with Plates. It can hold the bar.. However, my boys learned quickly (while adding/removing weighted plates) that any unbalancing of weight on sides will cause the bar to tip to the heavier side and off the rack. Super unsafe. - Assembly instructions were ridiculous to try to follow. Mostly due to many missing steps of connecting pieces together, instead the steps would have stuff already assembled and then I was left to figure out what made up what. I found myself constantly looking back at the image of the bench I ordered on Amazon in order to see what the finished product should look like. - The boys also stated the way in which the bar and bench are aligned, they are not able to grab hold of it in a way that allows proper gripping of the bar before removing it from the racking. They have to adjust their grips after having the bar off the racking. - Spotting bench presses and such is awkward with dip station right there. - There is no way to do weighted squats with this bench (not sure how we missed that when shopping around?) Overall, the bench is nice-ish... For someone new to working out, it most likely is a decent purchase for the price. However, if you want something serious, something you can count on lasting a long time and being of great use for a long time... I would say shop around a tad more. Spend the few extra dollars. In fact I now wish I had gotten a pull up/dip equipment that could be mounted on the wall and then a bench that is more hardcore and had the ability to support squat lifts and easier spotting. It definitely would have made it easier to figure out spacing in the garage for everything! First time home gym maker here... learning as I go! 😉 ... show more

  • Sent me a missing part long after I purchased it
Color: Black 2
Giving 5 stars for the service. I bought the equipment more than a year ago, but just didn't have the space to set it up. When I finally got it put together, I realized that it was missing the back cushion for the captain's chair. Sent them an email with receipt and they shipped it over immediately. You should definitely expect what you pay for, especially with weightlifting equipment. It's sturdy enough to use, and solid enough to put medium weights on. I'm really not sure why they rate it 110 lbs on the weight rack. The welds look much more solid than that. I suspect that they have to consider the possibility that people will leave the weights on the rack while they use the dip stand. They should definitely get it re-rated though. It's fantastic for what it is: decent home gym equipment at a good price. If you want something better for the price, just get a real gym membership. ... show more
