It looks very nice and is very nice to sit under when the sun is shining! Seems a little bit on the flimsy side, but have had no issues with it yet. It did come with minor scratches from the factory, though, because the delivery box was in perfect condition.....nothing major and no big dents. Ours measures 89 inches from the deck to the top of the post cap which is the highest point. From outside post to outside post it measures 108 inches one way and 106 inches the other way. ( we measured from the top of the posts too) The post “feet” are 6 inches square. The posts themselves are 4 inches by 4 inches. And....The top rails stick out 6 inches from the outside of the post. Hope this helps. Update: It’s been 2 months now and we love it so far! Absolutely no issues with anything! I’m increasing the rating to a 5 star. New Update: It's been 2 years now and still works and looks like new. We take the canopy off for the winter but leave the rest up. Well worth the money. ... show more

Only 4 stars because it was pretty difficult to assemble. All of the holes don't match up so you have to maneuver the pieces a lot to get the screws to catch. We even had to drill a new hole for one of the pieces. Also, one of the posts had dents it, but we just put that one in the back and no one notices. Once it was assembled, it looked great and functioned very well. The structure is solid and the top is well designed and it doesn't catch the wind and move the entire structure. We’ve had this up for about a month now. Our patio faces east so it is lovely to have the option to have the awning for shade in the morning, but open it and enjoy the evening sky. We live in central Colorado and the sun is intense and this provides good coverage for us as well as help prevent fading on our furniture. We also get strong and gusty winds here and while we try to keep the awning retracted when the wind picks up, it has been left out and the structure hasn’t budged. We are considering adding weight to the hollow posts, but it doesn’t seem urgent. This is surprisingly sturdy for how light it is. It was simple to assemble and took less than 2 hrs for two of us to get together. Great purchase! ... show more

Great quality pergola for the price, the instructions are terrible , but was able to figure out, pay attention to the pictures on the instructions very closely because I made some small mistakes and had to redo a lot of things half way through, the top material is confusing and a pain to get on. I used a drill with Allen bit made the process so much easier than tool supplied . Feels pretty sturdy against the house, but if standing alone in open space I’d be a little worried in a windy area. ... show more

This is my second pergola. My first one is still going strong after 4+ years. The delivery was perfect: right on time, extremely pleasant drivers & the package was in pristine condition. I'm using this pergola at my horse barn over the wash rack. I still have to haul some crushed stone under it and place my rubber mats on top of those. I am assembling this by myself. I first look for the instruction sheet. I took it inside and studied it. As far as the instructions go they are adequate. I've assembled many things and that is why I look to the instruction sheet often - it saves time having to take it apart if you make a mistake. I do all the preassembly that I can under the carport then take the pieces to the site as I need them. It started to rain so I am at a standstill for a day or so. I will update later. Update: Finished on Wednesday. I am a 61 year old small woman & assembled this by myself. This weekend I will place crushed stone underneath & put my rubber mats on top of that. One bolt was missing threads otherwise everything was in the box! ... show more

I got this when it was on sale for $380, I wouldn't pay more than that. It is lite, about 60lbs, one support beam came with a small dent, not enough for me to send it back. I just positioned that at the back next to the fence. One plastic clip on the center beam was broken, I've emailed the seller to get that piece replaced. It went up in about an hour or so. Would be quicker with 2+ people. I am a 5'6" 130 lb woman and managed to put this together by myself. The trick is to build it next to something you can strap it up right to whole you attach the other posts. The only part that took awhile was the center beam with the cord,l. The instructions really don't say which way to face it, had my stationary clip not been broken and the rope tied through, I would have gotten it a lot quicker. This is on a concrete patio so I will be bolting it down, nice amount of shade. This isn't a tarp do it won't stop the rain. If you don't know what coolaroo shade screen is, the next time you're at a garden nursery, look up. Update. It's now May 2017. The canopy has been up for 1 year. Only come across two issues. The metal is fading. But this is Florida and we are only about a mile from the sun. The canopy is still in good condition. No rips or fading on the fabric. It survived a hurricane outside. All we did as tie the canopy back to the posts. The canopy is bolted down with spikes so we weren't taking it down. The rope did not last the year. But we had a second center beam the company sent us so we just swapped them out. So far still loving this. ... show more

This pergola is perfect! I put it together & installed myself (30 y/o female) up until it was time to hang the shade. Hubby had to help with that but I probably could have done it alone, he just happened to get home from work. The shade really does help with the sun! It lets done light through but it's so much cooler underneath, especially on those 95° days in south Georgia summers when taking a break from yardwork. We mounted it to the concrete patio also with concrete screws. We usually close the shade up during storms because it makes me a little nervous with the wind (there was an incident which involved me chasing an 8 foot umbrella across our yard in a storm once) but no issues with a heavy breeze. Overall, couldn't be happier for the price we paid compared to some similar options. ... show more
