  • Firm but does the trick
Color: Pink Velvet
This futon is firm. I have broken it in over the last few months of having it so it's not as hard as it was when I first purchased it. I just needed a couch/sofa small enough to fit through doorways and easy to move when moving in/out. It was easy to put together by myself. Amazon drivers delivered on time and brought it to my room of choice. I have slept on it several times and am thinking of purchasing a mattress topper to provide a little more softness to it. I wouldn't recommend it for someone in a studio apartment or dorm room where this would be your only sleeping option, just because it is pretty firm. I do not use it in flat mode, I keep it in "sofa" mode and it serves it's purpose of simply being a place to sit, watch TV, and maybe take a nap in my living room. The futon itself is very sturdy, I've sat with another person on it and it held us up well (this would've been at least 350lbs combined). I wasn't a fan of the color but I purchased a cover for it. During an Amazon Promotion I was able to purchase it for a cheaper rate than what is currently being shown. Overall satisfied with this purchase! ... show more

  • High-end looks, low-end price, be realistic in your expectations.
Color: Vanilla Faux Leather
I'm torn between 3-4 stars. As far as looks go, its a 5 star product. It seems its somewhere between Ultra and Mid-century modern. The color as others have stated isn't a bright Apple store white, but in fact more of an off, vanilla. With that said this futon is 4 feet away from a stark bright white desk but neither piece looks out of place, also incandescent lighting will cast enough of a warm light on the room that they almost become the same color. From an assembly standpoint I'd say its a 3 or a 4 depending upon when it comes time to flip it right side up. The 2 halves are tied together via a standard hinge and flipping it over by yourself can be a chore as there is so much flex it seems as if its going to break. 2 people flipping at the same time solves the issue but it can be done by yourself as well, you just can't toss it on its feet is all I'm saying. The feet, while metal, are a VERY thin gauge tubing. I can understand as other people have said the legs have snapped at the welds why. To avoid that try not to do the typical sitting adjustment where you just suddenly thrust or scoot your body to change sitting position, I'd imagine that is what puts the lateral torque that causes welds to break, sideways. Just a thicker gauge metal would resolve any worries. Not really sure how it could be reinforced other than the owner adding wood feet in other places, but that will bring me to my next point. So far I think I'm 3-4 weeks in to ownership, and while there is no sagging to the FRAME as of yet, I can see where there is a possibility for it with long term use. Just for the sake of disclosure I have this product in my front office/video game room at home, there might be a week where I don't even go in there, let alone sit down, but then there will be spurts like the last 2 weeks I have laid on this for 4 hours every night playing xbox. If this item was used as a daily living room sofa with multiple people at a time I think it would be much more short lived than the sporadic use mine gets. I am 5'11ish I guess and 210lbs. I feel it is comfortable as long as you understand what it is, its not some super cushy sofa your going to sink down into watching Netflix for 12 hours. The best way to describe the cushion/padding of this is like a waiting room chair or seats at the movie theater. It has cushion to it, but it is a firm cushion. It is not the most comfortable but it is a lot better than a solid plastic or wood chair with no cushion at all. In futon mode I think it would be the perfect foundation to put a twin or full size air mattress on for an occasional spur of the moment guest bed. Sleeping on it bare for a full night might be a stretch but for an occasional afternoon nap, I had no issues the one time I tried it. I don't get people that expect futons to be a full time primary bed and want the comfort of a tempurpedic, a futon is the same void as a daybed, occasional sleeping for naps or temporary guests without taking up the size of a full time dedicated framed mattress bed. Now as far as the material, the faux leather/pleather looks nice, but it is very very, very, very, thin. You can tell by just pushing your finger into it how thin it is. because of this, I can say dogs, cats, and children standing on this could destroy it in about 10 minutes. it is just such a thin, soft material, that I just honestly feel that the covering will wear out well before the frame, cushioning, etc. I have several faux leather ottomans from Target and they are a much thicker, resilient material than this. The thinness of the covering will also show stretching pretty fast, there is a side that has more wrinkles than the other from just the occasional use. However the tufted design tends to hide it, as well as a few pillows that will be on there anyway. Sorry for such a long review however, I am always glad to see thorough review for items I am considering. Bottom line is this is an amazing looking piece, that looks much more expensive than it is. Not recommended as full time sofa or bed. Design has its flaws but a little common sense and realistic expectation of its price and what it is intended for go a long way. Not recommended for children or pets as climbing on it could tear the thin material pretty easily. Comfort is so-so, but that is the nature of futons. For the price it is great so far, I would buy again. The manufacturer should look at increasing gauge of tubing used for feet, as well as a much thicker covering on par with similar faux leather items from big box stores. I will also say that due to the nature of this product being mass produced, with the materials used, I can see where it would be pretty easy to get a lemon or one with issues. I wish they made a matching armless barcelona style chair/ottoman to go with this as matching the off white color and matteness of the white could be an issue with furniture placed directly against it. Overall I got this for $189 and am satisfied with it at that price, and would still be happy up to $250. Anything after that they would need to significantly upgrade materials used. There just isn't much that compares to this high end looking design, at this low of a price. ... show more

  • Beware it is a hassle.
Color: Black Faux Leather
Box did not have much damage, any damage was fixed with tape. When I got the futon out of the box there was no damage. When I went to the compartment to get hardware, all the screws were missing! They had fallen into the couch. So I had to unhinge that side of the couch and shake it around while being careful of the back piece that folds down. Finally I get all the hardware and connect the two sides together again. I start putting hardware in and everything seems to be fine. I am Still skeptical about the longevity of this piece. All the legs are made out of extremely thin metal and are spot welded. The bolts do not go into the wood (bolts aren’t supposed to) but they are so short that it is a concern. Also the plates for the front legs were not square but the ended up working. Flipping the couch over by my self was also had me a bit worried. Since the sides are only connected by 2 hinges. As a fabricator I would have used 3 minimum, 5 would be best. The back rests do fold done a lot. I would only purchase this to put against a wall. You need to be careful with the fold down parts when flipping/ moving, as these are weak points. The couch seems to be sturdy and comfortable while used as a couch. I am 6ft 290lbs and I stood on the couch to hang up a poster. I also had my self and a my brother 6’3” 280lb sit next to me and the couch was fine. So the 600lb weight limit seems to be true. If I was to modify this couch I would have more support in the middle, more hinges or preferably make it one piece. All in all I am happy with this convertible couch. It is aesthetically Pleasing. Biggest gripes are packaging (screws falling in couch), trust in hardware. ... show more

  • 8 years, 3 states, and still strong
Color: Black Faux Leather
I love this futon. It looks classy. It's easy to move. It fits across the back seats of a compact car. You can carry it yourself up and down three flights of stairs (better with a friend though). For the first 5 or 6 years, it was comfortable enough to sleep on. This year, I give guests a topper for it because it's still fine as a couch but not as comfy as a bed. I have had and loved this futon for EIGHT YEARS my dudes. It's the one essential item that comes with me on every move. Buy it. ... show more

  • Modern looking
Color: Burgundy Velvet
I bought this sofa bed for my parents. When i moved back home they were nice enough to give me their queen size bed for me and my wife. Thry slept on a blow up mattress. My wife and i damaged their bed accidentally by falling asleep and spilling 2 gallons of wine. So we kept the bed and i bought my parents this cool sofa. My mom at first didnt like it, but i added some foam to improve the comfort. Its not too expensive and its worth the money. ... show more
