  • Great product; lacking instructions…See details below
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel
First and foremost, 13000EH is an excellent generator. Amazon delivery was great, easy and on time. The generator’s instructions are lacking steps, clarity and completely missing critical info about components that pertain to only one fuel source. Here’s a little color: to use propane you have to change the spark plug to NGK BPR6ES, per tech support. It’s a known issue and will not run on propane with the factory installed plug. It cranked immediately when I changed the spark plug. Duromax is writing me a check for $4 to cover the cost. :) Second, I almost paid hundreds more for the HX due to the CO Safety feature. **Brand new EH’s come with it now! Don’t waste the extra money. Tech support confirmed this. Picture of EH unit wCO sensor on front attached. Third, the generator stalls on propane when you engage low idle mode. Tech support indicated you cannot use this mode on propane and confirmed this is not in the manual anywhere. Fourth, there are three different sets of instructions between the manual and two inserts, on how to start the gen with propane - they are all different. Good luck! It’s pretty easy though once you have the right spark plug. Fifth, there are no break-in period instructions other than change oil. Its subtle. This should be in the maintenance section along with everything else. I’ll have to call tech support again to get this info. Sixth, there is a fuel value switch on top of the engine behind the utility panel. That’s not mentioned anywhere. It’s gotta be turned on. Seventh, there is one set of instructions on a card for propane only that talks about operating the choke. Nothing else anywhere references it, not even the diagram in the manual. I’m still confused here… It seems to work automatically. Smh Aside from all this, it seems to be a fanatic generator. I’ve run mine a few times for a total of an hour or so. I was surprised at how quiet it is compared to others in my neighborhood. Seems to have a fantastic muffler! All in all, great product and excellent customer service. Friendly, responsive and accurate. Spark plug advice: NGK BPR6ES has several types: 4008 and 7734 seem most common. The difference is 4008 has a solid terminal, which is what this gen uses. 7734 has a removable nut transmitter. Both will work but if the removable nut vibrates loose, it will stop the generator from running. Considering the vibration power and size of engine, i choose the 4008 so I have complete peace of mind nothing will ever come loose, especially when my lights are out. ... show more

  • This generator saved our Christmas!
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel
This was the second attempt at purchasing this generator. I originally ordered it back in the summer time after we lost power with heavy storms. Unfortunately the wrong unit was delivered. I was home at the time and sent the unit back with the driver. I called Amazon and they refunded me my money and then it didn’t seem like a priority until we had a snow storm two weeks ago. (But thankfully didn’t loose power) We decided to try again. This time the correct unit was delivery in about 2 days. And I’m so grateful we did THIS SAVED OUR CHRISTMAS! We had a storm that knocked out our power 5am Christmas morning and would of been without power for about 13-14 hours. This unit (13000EH) was powerful enough to run our entire home included heat. (I will have to wait until the summer to see if it can run our Central AC, but from my research I believe it will) That being said, here is my review and what to expect. Unboxing the unit was pretty easy. I did it by myself. Cut the box open and then flip the generator upside down. It will allow you to easily remove the orange shipping brace and attached the wheels/legs. The instructions said brace(s) and claimed there was a block of wood. I spent about 10 minutes looking for it and realized that there wasn’t any other brace. Only the one brace. Flip it back over and attached the handle bars. Connect the battery. I had to take off the face plate (4 bolts) to get my hand in there to access the battery terminal. The battery was NOT dead. You will need to purchase engine oil (40 oz of SAE10w-30) I purchased at Lowe’s for like 6 bucks I hooked up a bottle of propane and was able to fire it right up on the first try. Important to know. A standard bbq tank of propane (20lb) will only last about 3-4 hours before it runs out or freezes up. The company does say the preferred propane tank size, is a 40 lb tank. (I didn’t have chance to purchase one yet) FYI, if you go for a bigger tank then 40lb you will need some other hardware because the valve on a 100lb tank isn’t the same as a 20/40 lb tank Also important to know. You will have to purchase a Power cord. It only comes with the Male/female adaptor piece. No cord So far, I have not notice any issue with the tires. They did not go flat from the weight of the machine. (I only ran it on propane so far so I don’t know if the added weight of a full tank of gasoline would Cause a problem) The handles are long and provide good leverage. So, Moving the unit around wasn’t a problem for me The generator is loud when you are standing right next to the exhaust side, but it is much quieter then I expected. I had it 20’ off from the house and with the doors/windows shut it wasn’t really that noticeable. Overall I’m am very happy with the purchase, the quality of this generator seems impressive. Duel fuel is convenient. This unit has a lot of power for the money. ... show more

  • Happy we got it
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel
First of all…they provide THE BEST manuals I have ever seen on anything! We tested this new out of the box using gas. We have a large home and we weren’t sure how it would do. Well…it ran everything including our AC. The generator started right up without issue and ran quite nicely with no adjustments. ... show more

  • Great generator for the price.
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel
I purchased this generator in 2021 after a nasty ice storm knocked out the power for 10 days. I also had a 50amp socket installed on the outside of my breaker box. I’ve used the generator several times since during power outages and it does a great job. All I have to do is turn the main breaker off and plug it into the side of my house and it runs the whole house. My home is 2650sf and it runs everything fine with the exception of the heating unit as there appears to be a slight modulation in the power source that the safety features in the heating unit doesn’t like. I keep the generator in the barn about 50 yards from the house and have no problems wheeling it to the house. Con: it’s a little noisy. I had an extra long 50amp cord built so I can put the generator around the side of the house to alleviate some of the noise. All in all a good purchase. ... show more
