Description

Mavic 2 Zoom | 24-48 mm 1 Optical Zoom Camera Powered by a 1/2.3 inch 12-megapixel sensor with up to four-times zoom, including a two-times optical zoom (24mm–48mm), 1 the Mavic 2 Zoom is all about dynamic perspectives. Capture everything from wide angle to mid-range shots for even more creative options. More Expressive Mid-Range Shots Compared to a 24 mm 1 wide angle lens, the 48 mm 1 telephoto lens compresses your perspective, enhancing the parallax effect for a classic cinematic look. Worry-Free and Efficient Shooting When shooting Full HD video, 4 × Lossless Zoom(including 2 × optical zoom) gives you a closer view of far-away subjects, making unique scenes more accessible to capture at a distance – scenes that perhaps are too risky to catch by flying too close. Quick and Accurate Focus Hybrid auto-focus on the Mavic 2 Zoom combines phase and contrast detection for higher focus accuracy with an increased focus speed of up to 40% than before. The auto-focus tracking system makes subjects appear clear and sharp when zooming in and out. Zoom During Flight Dolly Zoom 7 is a new QuickShot for the Mavic 2 Zoom, offering an otherworldly perspective never-before-seen in a fully-integrated drone. Dolly Zoom automatically adjusts focus when flying, adding an intense, warping visual effect to your videos. Set proper focus speed values for even more creative shot options when flying manually. 48-Megapixel Super Resolution Photos When taking a picture in 24 mm equivalent field of view, 1 the camera will capture and patch nine photos with its telephoto lens, resulting in a 48-megapixel super-resolution photo in vivid detail.

  • The DJI Mavic Pro 2 Review from a “camera guy”
I just used the Mavic Pro 2 for the first time and I love it. I am primarily using it for photography and videography. Ease of Use: It’s so easy to fly, and yet it has so many options for controlling your shot. I like my gadgets to let me have control and this camera absolutely allows for that. I think the DJI app will take some getting used to. My primary camera is a A7RII, and I pocket a RX100V. Both of these are easier to use than others in their catagory (imo) but the controls are expansive and tactile. For photography, the controls are not as organic in the app yet, but I will get there (and pray that they redesign for better controls of this amazing sensor). Camera: I have tested it and I am impressed. I shot in the middle of a sunny day and was able to control my aperture well enough to get some amazing shots. It really is amazing. I still have to adjust the speed of the gimble and sensitivity of the joysticks so that I can get smoother transitions. My first attempts at pan shots were jumpy. I am sure that is something I can improve on, and I love that DJI really assumes you will learn the device according to your own needs, and not make it a one size fits all. The camera has almost all of the capabilities of the RX100. I think it’s the same sensor. I know Sony made a few 1” sensors for Hasselblad in the past, and it would not surprise me to find that these are the same ilk. This should please anyone who has followed the RX100 line, as that sensor is consistently getting props since it came out with gen 1 in like 2012. I will spend more time later with the color profiles, because I really have not tested them and looked that deep in post to evaluate. I like the warmer HBad color profiles. To know that I can achieve that without much work is really exciting. Flymore and Extra thoughts: The DJI warrantee is a no brainer. I am not hard on my gear, but I don’t want to be scared of getting the most out of the drone that I can. With how expensive the “care” is it just made sense. The flymore bundle with the bag, batteries, car charger, etc. was less about the bargain, and more about not delaying my ability to fly as much as I want. The bag squeezes it all in there quite economically but the material is not worth the $80 street price. I have a couple Katas and Lowepros that are much better built for similar pricing. I am using it to try it out but will likely sideline it in favor of something more robust. If you find it for $50, I think that would be more inline with the actual value. Conclusion: Would I buy this again? Absolutely. The drone is stunning in looks and performance. It is quiet enough to fly in a residential area and not freak everyone out. I am getting some nd filters with polarizing to cut some unwanted effects, but this is common I think for drone videographers to cut down shutter speed on videos for smooth motion blur. I can’t wait to get more familiar and possibly find a solution to the lack of speed adjustments in the app. Thanks for reading! ... show more

  • A noticeable imporvement on the Mavic Pro
Edition: Mavic 2 Zoom w/ Fly More Kit & DJI...
I will make full disclosure and say that I was already a very satisfied Mavic Pro (first generation) user when I saw the specs for the Mavic Pro 2 Zoom (referred to herein as the "Zoom"). I wanted the 24-48 mm zoom capability however which was one of my main complaints about the Mavic Pro. I have only had my Zoom for a week and it gets 5 stars from me. Ordering from amazon was extremely easy. The drone came when they said it would. Unboxing was straight forward but I acknowledge that my Mavic Pro taught me a lot. Now for the good stuff. This drone has noticeable improvements in battery life and handling. The movements (pitch, roll, yaw etc.) seem more crisp and tight than the first generation. The additional shooting modes (like hyperlapse and panoramic still shots) are very well implemented. In panoramic mode, the drone automatically, and precisely pivots on its own axis and takes a series photos which are then compiled into a 180 degree or 360 degree panoramic shot. Hyperlapse and time lapse modes are no less impressive. Flight functions in hyperlapse mode are automatically scaled back and the drone moves at a crawl, which enhances/facilitates the effect (It is not flawless, but it works just fine). Who ever is coding for DJI is operating at the highest level (consumer wise). Be afraid, the Chinese are coming. Simply put, awesome drone, noticeable improvements (I have not looked at all the functions yet however) and as usual it is portable. This means it goes in my hand luggage along with my DSLR camera. 5 Stars DJI. Keep up the good work. ... show more

  • Activation of the DJI Care Refresh Process can be a problem
Edition: Mavic 2 Pro w/ DJI Care Refresh Bundle
To every buyer - verify that you get an EMAIL from the seller of your DJI Drone and DJI Care Refresh with an ACTIVATION CODE for the Care Refresh before you do a software update (which you must do before you fly the drone). Because once you update or fly, you have 48 hours to activate the Care Refresh. I know I am at least the second buyer in these reviews who has experienced this problem - no email was received and no discussion of this potential problem in the description. The seller should take more care of informing buyers of the exact process. The little blue card for DJI CARE REFRESH (that even has a number on it) that comes in the delivered package is just an advertisement. The seller is supposed to email you the code, they will not do the activation for you. You MUST get the EMAIL and activate it yourself!!! I will do a review of the Drone itself after I fly it a few times. ... show more

  • Firmware Update For Batteries?
This DJI Mavic 2 Pro is/was a great drone until the latest Firmware Update for controller and aircraft, which I did a few days ago. I never heard nor considered that there was a firmware update for the batteries until I completed this last update for the controller and the aircraft. After the update, which took about 15 minutes, I swapped the battery and flew around the property for approximately 10 minutes but I noticed my battery on the aircraft was draining fast so I landed and swapped a third battery (my last); but after swapping, I noticed the battery that I’d just removed was very warm I took off with my last battery and within 8 to 10 minutes I noticed it too was draining fast. I landed and pulled the third battery and it was unseemly hot. I later discovered the firmware update for the batteries but too late. Well, the batteries had overheated and swelled, but even though I’d purchased the extended warranty (the Fly More), DJI refused to replace the batteries, and I only requested that they replace the two that arrived with the aircraft and warranty. I’m done with this junk and I going to give the drone to a friend of mine who’s willing to purchase new batteries. ... show more
