To all the people complaining that this set isn't made by Callaway, do some research! A quick google search on these clubs will tell you they aren't made by Callaway, they are just distributed by Callaway. To those complaining about durability; for some of you, I'd suggest only hitting golf balls with the clubs... Or maybe don't try your best Happy Gilmore impression. It's pretty obvious from some photos that it wasn't a golf ball or average golf swing that caused that much damage. Consider what you're paying and what you're getting here. This is a BEGINNER'S SET! A driver alone is $400 and up from one of the "big 5" manufacturers, and that's not including a bag, set of irons, woods, and putter. Highly doubt many beginners are ready to drop $3k on a full set of PING clubs. Like with any product, you're going to have some bad and some good. All things considered this is a great set for the price. Driver: Good - Isn't going to last forever. If you're pushing pro swing speeds, you'll probably just destroy this driver after a few rounds or less. Otherwise, forgiving, well balanced, durable enough for the average player. 3 wood/5h: Good - 5h does everything you need it to. 3 wood may have similar problems as driver. Irons: Amazing! - Very sturdy, forgiving, great ball flight. Putter: Good - Basic blade with ball alignment. Yes, the bottom gets scuffed. Sorry to burst your bubble, but clubs are going to show signs of wear when used... Bag/club covers: Great - lightweight, plenty of storage. Better than anyone is willing to give credit for. Covers aren't anything special, but good enough and aesthetically pleasing. ... show more

    • Irons are fine, the driver is breaking already
I have had awful issues with the driver. The grips were almost immediately an issue and fell off. Starting this season, the head has come off. The irons feel fine enough and the bag is what you would expect. No complaints other than the driver! But that is enough that I would steer clear of this set. ... show more

    • Great set to get into the game
I purchased this set to try the game of golf out. When I received the set I was impressed with the value for the money. The clubs are well built (Strata is made by Callaway) and includes pretty much everything you need to get out on the course outside of balls and tees. The grips are decent, and pretty comfortable. The clubs some mostly with steel shafts, with the exception of the driver, which has a graphite shaft. The irons in this set are pretty good. They offer good feedback through your hands whether you have hit it well or not, and as long as you have the club face square and put a decent swing on it, will go plenty long and straight. There are a couple things I added/upgraded rather quickly. 1st, the only wedge that comes in this set is a pitching wedge, which is fine, but adding a set of wedges helps a ton around the greens. 2nd, the shaft on the driver is extremely flexy. As a bigger guy who also plays slowpitch, I have a decent swing speed. Unfortunately this is not a great fit for someone like me, and I upgraded to a Cobra Rad XB recently. For many new golfers, this driver will be more than fine to get going with. Overall this is a great starter set to test the waters with if you're interested in playing golf. ... show more

Purchased the 12 Piece Strata Set. Overall this set is pretty good for a beginner. Purchased for my teenager and he likes the clubs much more than his hand me down top flight clubs. only drawback is the driver. he has been to the range once and played 18 holes - 2nd time to the range the driver head broke. *HOWEVER* - I called Callaway customer service. They answered right away and when i told the rep what happened - he got a replacement driver setup to ship. A much upgraded driver the Callaway Maverick. Have not received it yet but that says alot when a company sends you a replacement that is more than 50% of the value of the entire set. *Update - Mavrik driver was delivered included driver cover.
