  • Hopefully not too late.
Color: Golden
It's WAY too early to give an honest review; so please pay no attention to the stars I've given. First I'm old... at least older... 71. The trumpet (Golden), does not come with a cleaning kit except for white glove gloves and a cloth. So if you want a cleaning snake and brushes, they have to be ordered separately. For me the 7C mouthpiece is a flop. I had ordered a 5C (Blessing), which seems better. I can almost work my way through a "C scale". I know that's very basic and some will scoff, but I haven't touched a trumpet, (cornet), since 4th grade... A whole lotta years ago! I was trying to blow too hard and got a noise. somewhere between a flea passing gas to an elephant jumping from a 100 foot cliff.... and landing on the flea. I watched A LOT of videos on YouTube. Some helped... most... not so much. The ones I liked most, so far show the actual fingering for playing the scales "Trumpet Headquarters with Estela Aragon" for one. Like I said at the start, it's Way too early to give an honest review; but I am getting there. At my age, as with most other things... it just takes longer... A lot longer! I'm not trying to be another Miles Davis or Herb Alpert.. just personal entertainment and staving off the "old age brain fog" thing. If you plan on doing something similar and you're around my age... Give it a shot! We 'ain't' gettin' no younger! Good luck and God bless! While the future isn't in our hands... We sure put a dent in it! ... show more

  • Good for a beginner
Color: Gold
Updated review to reflect good customer service experience: This is a decent trumpet for a beginner, just to feel out whether they enjoy and have a knack for the instrument. It has lasted my son 3 months, and now the valves stick quite badly and have to be oiled multiple times a day just to get through practice. We will invest in a better one now that we know he enjoys trumpet lessons. It’s good value for the money, but it is low quality overall. Cheaper than renting an instrument for 3 months, but not a keeper! Review updated to say that the customer service was very good. The seller contacted me as soon as I flagged the issue with the valves and offered to provide a replacement trumpet. We had already purchased a good second hand trumpet as a replacement, so instead they gave us a partial refund which was really good. Good customer service, responsive and honest seller! ... show more

  • Great trumpet with everything a beginner needs
Color: Gold
The media could not be loaded. - Some really positive stuff - * This is a full brass trumpet, not one of the cheapie plastic trumpets that cost as much or more. It looks gorgeous, the finish is smooth and bright and polished to a mirror finish. I don't know how to tell if it's thick and will last, but my son's Yamaha trumpet has dulled over the years of use and abuse (matching band can be so hard on instruments, or maybe just teenagers are) * The pistons are smooth and easy to press. I took one out and it looks like a great fit/seal. Piston oil is provided in the case. * The tuning slides move easily, but not so easily that you get out of tune accidentally. * The spit valves have a good seal and a good spring. * it comes with a full cleaning set of brushes and a wiping cloth. That all fit in the case. This hopefully will act as a reminder that cleaning your trumpet regularly is a good way to make it last for years. * It sounds great. I did a "blind test" with my son playing his Yamaha and the Eastar and I couldn't hear the difference. * The trumpet comes packaged in a nice carrying case with nylon covering (great to protect from the rain). the case also comes with a removable shoulder strap. The case has room for all the accessories, and will protect the instrument nicely. - Things that could be better - Honestly, hard to find fault in this setup, especially for the price. * I would have preferred a mouthpiece of size 5C, it comes with a 7C. It is a matter of personal preference and in fact 7C may suit younger players better. For a complete beginner, your teacher will advise you on what size may be best for you. There are pretty inexpensive mouthpieces ion Amazon if you want a different size. * Latches are less likely to be broken than a zipper, so take care not to foul up the zipper (especially for younger kids) * Because the instrument is likely targeted at beginners, I wish Eastar had included cleaning instructions. You do NOT want to get the felt at the base of the pistons wet. Make sure yo ask your teacher or at least look up how to clean the instrument on YouTube. - In summary - I have purchased several Eastar instruments and have been very satisfied with their products, and this trumpet is no exception. It is a great instrument for the price, it is a *real* instrument that will not get in the way of the student making progress. I would highly recommend it as a first instruments (you never know if the kid is going to stick with it, so why spend hundreds or thousands?). I wish I had found this trumpet when my son was in marching band, I would rather he would have dinged and scratched this cheaper instrument rather than his expensive Yamaha. ... show more

  • WOW. Seriously impressed.
Color: Silver
Former trumpet player here - I played semi-professionally at one point in my life, and I still have a decent collection including my silver Bach Strad. Ordered this very last minute for my 4th grader who starts band in two days and decided she wants to play. I just unboxed it and WOW. It's beautiful, and it plays really well - great sound quality and clarity. In my dining room, I couldn't even tell the difference in sound from mine. Maybe a smidge lighter and easier to play than my Bach, which will be great for a beginner. The case and accessories are well thought-out, too. It even comes with dual straps so she can wear it over her shoulder or as a backpack! Remember to buy some oil and grease, as those are not included. I prefer to shop local, but this was my only option in such a time crunch, and I have to admit I'm really happy with this purchase. ... show more
