Description

Remember when you brought those old jagged boards back to life? The WEN 13-Inch Benchtop Thickness Planer repurposes rough and worn wood to give it an exceptionally smooth finish. Our spiral cutterhead utilizes 26 staggered HSS blades to provide a perfect finish to hard and soft woods alike. The powerful 15-amp motor rotates the cutterhead over 10,000 RPM at a 26 feet per minute feed rate. Plane boards up to 13 inches wide and 6 inches thick with ease. The onboard planing gauge helps inform users about the amount of material being removed during each pass. Combine that with the heavy duty cast iron base for a sturdy planer that does not walk or wobble during operation. The handy depth adjustment knob makes it easy to take off anywhere from 0 to 1/8 of an inch per pass. The adjustable dust port removes chips and sawdust from the workpiece and blasts them out of the way. The onboard depth stop allows users to achieve an exact workpiece thickness with maximum precision. This package also includes height-adjustable infeed and outfeed tables to limit snipe while providing extra support to your workpiece during planing. Easily mount the planer to a work surface or stand (such as the WEN MSA658 Planer Stand) using the predrilled base holes. Compatible with the WEN BP510H Replacement Spiral Blades. And because it’s a WEN product, this planer comes backed by a nationwide network of skilled service technicians. Remember when your planer could handle even the hardest of woods? Remember WEN.

  • Works Well
Style: One Speed Pattern Name: 13-Inch Spiral Blade Planer
This Wen planer is my first experience with a feed through planer. Since smooth cedar boards are expensive and I wanted to build a horizontal cedar fence the overall cost would have been prohibitive. Buying rough cut cedar is an order of magnitude less expensive than the smooth variety so I took a flyer on using a planer. Wow, I’m glad I did. Operation is straight forward and after a few test pieces I began planing the 4x4 cedar posts and a quantity of 6”x1”x96” boards. The high speed steel cutter blades lasted for about 10 or so boards (planed both sides), rotated them and did 10 more. Then I replaced the cutters (easy but takes time) with carbide blades and went on my way. I like how the necessary tools are attached right to the machine. Operation of the Wen planer is straight forward and self explanatory so even a newbie can start putting out good results. I also purchased two roller stands and spent some time making sure the boards went through straight, level and true. Result was no snipe which surprised me since many YT videos are how to prevent snipe. Setting up measurement and adjustment is straight forward and little effort. About 1/16” is most I would remove at one time and this worked out well for me. I also purchased the Wen planer stand which gives a solid base for the planer. As the photo shows the results were satisfying with only one pass. What was a collection of rough cut cedar boards and posts became a really attractive set of lumber that looks great. Well worth the money, even for this one project, and I recommend this planer. There will be more projects now that I see how great the results were. Now to get as excited to dig the post holes. ... show more

  • Excellent value and performance so far
Style: One Speed Pattern Name: 13-Inch Spiral Blade Planer
I haven’t had this planner for long, but you can see from the photo that it does an excellent job of surfacing this cedar board. It had no resistance and left a smooth finish. The dust collection worked okay. A lot of cedar cops were thrown out of the front of the machine.

  • Absolutely Amazing!
Style: One Speed Pattern Name: 13-Inch Spiral Blade Planer
I would like to say it's a good planer for the money. This little jewel would be a good planer for twice the money. if set up properly absolutely no snipe. when taking 1\16 in cuts the wood looks as if it has been sanded no milling marks at all. I've done pine and oak. I have been wood working for over 40 years and owned four planers and operated many. for a bench top planer it cuts with the best for light cuts. the only draw back I see is the extraction system. it is not forced like the Dewalt and must be connected to a stand alone system like a shop vac I run my knife planers separate from my shop dust evac system. because of the size and amount of shavings. Although these shavings are considerably smaller, you could probably run it with a shop extraction system. Another reason I don't hook it to my shop evac system is I already have five dedicated ports on one trunk. I have only used it a few times so I have no idea how the reliability will be. I guess time and usage will tell that. I don't think you can go wrong with this planer as long as you maintain it properly and don't abuse it. ... show more

  • Good machine, poor service !!!!!3/17/2024 EDIT!!!!
I got the WEN PL1326 15-Amp 13-Inch Spiral Benchtop Thickness Planer two weeks ago, (Feb8th). During my initial trial and set up I first noticed that the depth indicator on the side is off by 1/32nd of an inch. I have maxed out the adjustment in the direction that it needs to go and it is still off. I can account for that. After running about 12-15 small cutoffs of 2"x4"s I heard a small "clunk". After that it started leaving a gouge in the pieces. After taking off the dust cover I found that one of the blades was out of alignment and there were some nicks in the cutting head. I could not properly re-seat the blade. There were no nails, screws or other obstructions in the wood as they were unused cutoffs. I think the blade was not attached correctly and now can not be aligned with the rest of the blades. I immediately contacted WEN. They got back to me in a day with an automated email asking for more detail and pictures. I responded. That was 10 days ago. This is very disappointing. The planer has good power and is easy to use. But 1/3 of the width is not usable because of the damaged head. I did not want to give a poor review on Amazon, but WEN has been lax about solving my issue. I/WEN need to get this sorted out ASAP. ********EDIT***********EDIT**********EDIT************* It took a couple of back and forth emails, then eventually a call to a real person at WEN, but I am happy to say that I was taken care of. I got a replacement unit. Phil, from WEN was a big help. He even said that if Amazon did not get it taken care of, he would. From my initial purchase, to getting the replacement was 4 1/2 weeks. The new unit seems to be operating in the same strong fashion as the original. Even the depth gauge is off by the same amount! I am very pleased with this planer. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Damn good planer
Style: Two-Speed Pattern Name: TOOLS
The only thing I would advise is that you get carbide cutters for it . The steel cutting inserts get dull after a while . Although I was running dry ash ( hardwood ) planing around 1/2" off , with multiple passes of around 1/32" . I ran about 3000 board feet before flipping cutters . The dual speed does give a finish that doesn't need to be sanded afterwards . Highly satisfied with this planer . Well built, steel construction. I'm still running the stock cutters after flipping them , and have run cherry as well with unbelievable results. I have nothing bad to say about this unit , only wishing it was wider as I have some 24" cherry live edge slabs and don't want to buy linear rails for flattening 5 slabs . If you're a hobbyist like myself and want premium quality being a perfectionist you can't go wrong with this planer. I purchased carbide cutters and as soon as these are spent they will be changed out , although I don't think I can get a better finish, the carbide cutters should last longer than the steel cutters . ... show more

  • Very smooth
Style: Two-Speed Pattern Name: TOOLS
Very easy to use and very accurate. I planed a black walnut board and It came out so smooth, I almost dont need to sand it . . . almost. The only down side I see is that it could use a better attachment mechanism to hook up a shop vac.
