  • First UHD TV - First TV in 9 Years
Size: 55 in Style: QLED Q80 Series Set: TV Only
The media could not be loaded. This T.V. is beautiful with great performance and very nice smart features. It cost a decent amount but I did a decent amount of research before buying and I'm glad I bought it. My old LG 37LE5300 with an IPS screen, one of the best of 2010 (on many lists, is really nice if you could get one with an IPS screen) 37" its still serving me well as a bedroom T.V. with my Chromecast but I needed a T.V. for a living room and this is obviously a big upgrade. Games look amazing, I run a xbox one through a Sony DN860 receiver (sucks it doesn't support HDR+ and HDMI 2.2!)j. The steamlink app works well as well and the T.V. does a good job of supporting controllers. I manually calibrated it a bit and to get the absolute best picture you do need to change video setting modes on different sources but for the picture quality and performance its cool. Really the only thing that kind of sucks in my opinion is that there isn't a Twitch app and you can't cast Twitch and certain things like videos from a chrome web browser. If I really want I can just move my chromecast over to it though. I got a open box like new and it was like new. I had to buy a piece of wood to put on my TV stand to make it a tad bigger as it barely just fit on the T.V. stand and my apartment doesnt allow any nails or anything on the walls. UHD looks crazy good but not like a huge huge deal, you really need perfect or very good vision to appreciate it fully but you can definitely tell the difference. Even text like subtitles is just super sharp and easier to read. I like to watch Starcraft 2 pro games and they look amazing and you can easily read even the small text and whatnot in the U.I. or overlays. The contrast is quite quite great with very high levels of brightness. The screen with its anti-glare coating is fine and good for a living room T.V. that might be affected by sunlight and light sources/glare. Gaming: Motion is great and one of the reasons I bought a more expensive, mid-range TV - having native 120 fps. It beats my Dell S2417DG G-Sync 144+ hz monitor really in motion and picture quality, though ULMB mode on that monitor is super fast and great at 120 hz, that mode reduces contrast and brightness. The game mode settings aren't the greatest out of the box in my opinion and it appears it has a similiar mode to like ULMB which makes ghosting almost non-existant. Input lag is not such a big deal to me on a T.V. but it has very low input lag as well. I kind of wish i would have got the 65" model but its fine, this T.V. even on sale (after Christmas) is expensive enough for me. I'm not a huge TV person but I do watch a decent amount of stuff. Edit: The picture adjustments I read about and made - pretty much just need to turn up the blue slightly (Blue offset and gain - just a bit like +1 +1 or so) under white balance in the advanced picture settings and yeah, colors look pretty accurate and good in my opinion. ... show more

  • Amazing and Well Worth It!
Size: 75 in Style: QLED Q90 Series Set: TV Only
I know this 2019 model is now difficult to find, but when calibrated, it is truly amazing and worth writing about. If you can find it at a reasonable price, get it! I have two of them: a 75" in the living room and a 65" in the kitchen. --Everyone who sees our sets say they have the best pictures they've ever seen. We keep the living room pretty dark and the kitchen is bright enough to perform surgery, but they look equally fantastic in both settings. The living room TV is about three-foot off the ground, which is perfect for the recliners, and the kitchen is about four foot--for standing or sitting at the counter. The height doesn't affect picture quality. --I love the One Connect box with its one, transparent cable going to the TV. It allows the TV to be wonderfully thin with no-gap installation on the wall. On both sets we have the cable going through the wall and completely hidden, and it's pretty easy to fish the one cable through (a normal outlet opening). (BTW, get a cheap endoscope camera from Amazon, if you are going through walls--so, so easy. I have a Limink, which is very easy to use.) --The remote is the best remote that I've ever had. It's simple with very few buttons but does everything you need, and everyone figures out how to use it. It's pretty much a universal remote but doesn't do everything, e.g., doesn't seem to control our Sony Ultra HD Blue-ray player. It's not backlit, but you'll have it memorized within a few days, so it doesn't need to be. --The smart TV interface and controls are the best I've ever used--very easy and fairly configurable. --When not watching it, we love the ambient mode, especially the "water" screen saver. We use it everyday so that the two walls aren't filled with big black rectangles. In fact, we leave the kitchen one in ambient mode 24/7 to provide some light at night. --Given how thin they are, they are surprisingly heavy; so, if you get one, figure you'll need help mounting it. --When I bought the 65" inch, the 2020s were available, but the local dimming and One Connect (and the accompanying thinness) were the reasons I got the 2019 model. (Plus. my previous experience with the 75" version.) --Best upscaling of SD material that I've seen--both regular DVDs and reruns of old TV shows, like Quantum Leap. --Off-axis viewing surprisingly good and the picture stays very bright. --You will definitely need to adjust it. It is highly likely that you will be disappointed with it before adjustment. --Here are the settings that I use on both for most inputs, except DVDs, which generally need a lot more backlighting and brightness. BTW, it's super bright, but in a good, lifelike way. Backlight: 20 Brightness: 2 Contrast: 45 Sharpness: 5 Color: 25 Tint (G/R): 0 Digital Clean View: Auto Auto Motion Plus Settings: Custom and then Blur Reduction 20; Judder Reduction 3, and LED Clear Motion off Local Dimming: Standard (with HD or 4K) but High with SD material Contrast Enhancer: Off Color Tone: Warm2 White Balance: 2 point, but I haven't played with it. Gamma: BT.1886 BT.1886: 0 RGB Only: Off Color Space Settings: Auto P.S. I rated it five stars for gaming, but that's playing games like Mario Cart on a Nintendo Switch; so, don't take it too seriously. ... show more
