  • Theoretically good, but ruined by useless "power-saving" feature
Style: Printer
This printer seemed like a smart buy, but I'm going to be returning it. The print quality is fine, and it accommodates very economical cartridges. The problem is that it has a feature that causes it to automatically shut off when it's not in use. According to HP, it should automatically wake up whenever a user sends it a print job. In practice, that user will have to walk over to the printer and hit the "OK" button. If this printer were for my home, that would be fine, but it's for an office. My users are simply not going to use a printer on which they have to walk to another room and hit a button before it even starts the print job. I spoke with HP support on the phone about this issue three times but they said there's nothing that can be done to change this functionality-breaking feature, which all HP printers now have. Time to look at other manufacturers, then. ... show more

  • Nice color printer
Style: Printer
I bought this as a color printer for a smaller office. It is not the main printer and I probably would't use it or buy it for that. Not because of the printer or quality, but the cost of the cartridges. If you use genuine HP ones, they are expensive, a full set costs twice what the printer did.

  • Great, but please note that this isn't wifi enabled!
Style: Printer
This printer must be connected to your router with an ethernet cable (or connected directly to a computer via USB). Set-up is not super intuitive, but the printer itself is fast and prints in great quality. HP customer support is definitely lacking these days (I had some initial issues with duplexing whereby the customer service rep insisted I had to manually insert the papers to print two-sided, which is incorrect). I've owned many HP printers and hope that this one lives up to the others. ... show more

  • It prints well but ...
Style: Printer
The printer prints well. It prints in color well. BUT the printer requires you to push a button on the printer EVERY time you print. I have worked with others to solve this problem. No solution. If you choose not to print on both sides expect to go to the printer EVERYTIME and push a button. If you make a mistake a push one of the buttons next to the "OK" button you will have more trouble and wasted paper. You can set automatic “OK” but there are other issues with that setting. I am still satisfied but understand this detail. For your reference I am technical. You will see this mentioned in other reviews. ... show more

  • Best bang for buck
Style: Printer
If you’re trying to make shirts and hats this is extremely useful for the price. It’s no oki but it has done the job 100% with the right paper

  • It has quite a few flaws
Style: Printer
I have the latest firmware installed and this print sometimes won’t wake up from sleep. It requires a power cycle to get it working again. Printing envelopes takes forever. It runs at significantly reduced speed. It also goes into cleaning mode very often. Also paper jam quite often. I know it’s not the paper because the exact same paper never jam in another printer. ... show more

  • Worst printer ever
Horrible printer. Had to reinstall drivers three times since purchased in Nov 2019. Won't automatically print duplex. Won't print if it's in sleep mode. Randomly prints pages.

  • Nontrivial setup, but working fine now
Style: Printer
Delivery was very fast - the next day! The box got wet, but the contents were fine. It's a heavy printer. I downloaded the initial firmware to a Mac, and connected the Mac to the printer with a USB cable (using the USB-B port on the printer), but the installer couldn't find a connection to the printer. (The printer was out of range of the WiFi, and too heavy to move conveniently.) But the old diagnosis was right - "the problem is probably with the connector" - and a different USB cable worked fine. Then I connected it via Ethernet to a router. Assigning a static IP address could have been simpler. That done, the Mac was able to print - color and double-sided and fast! However, the main machine for this printer runs Linux. I installed it with CUPS "Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in sides=two-sided-long-edge", but it insisted on printing single-sided -- using evince with "page setup = two sided, long edge", or acroread or atril with the same. Or "lp -o sides=two-sided-long-edge". Eventually I visited the printer's own web page, and on the "Print" tab, under "Duplex Settings", I found "Duplex Disable". I changed that to "Enable", and the Linux apps could print double-sided. I don't understand how the Mac succeeded, or how duplex printing got disabled, but I'm glad it's working now. ... show more
