I really like this brush set because it covers pretty much all the bases, as far as my normal hair routine goes. The curved brush, in particular, is super versatile, just like the Denman brush it's copying. The curved arrangement of the rows of bristles allow it, by twisting slightly, to pick up and grip the hair to create and maintain tension for control when styling. I really like that the base is removable, makes cleaning a lot easier. The finish on both brushes is soft and comfortable to hold. The combs are nice, too. This is a versatile set of hair grooming tools. The wide-toothed comb works well detangling my wet hair. The tips of the teeth are smooth. It is sturdy. The bristles on both brushes have ball tips--no scratching of my scalp. They are sturdy enough to go all the way through my hair. I imagine that the brush with the rubber base will help prevent static in the winter. It also has a curve to it and some ventilation holes which makes it useful for blow-drying my hair. This is a great brush set especially for the price. For this price I usually only get just the paddle brush because that is what kind I mainly use. But this comes with the paddle brush, which I use daily, as well as a styling brush and 2 types come combs. It not only has items I use but also my husband and kids. I like three of the four combs, not sure the purpose or real reason for the one with wide teeth. They are so big that they don't do much in terms of combing the hair. However, having said that the other three are great. The brush is a good size, not too big nor too small and its not very hard or soft on the hair. I'll admit it, I was limping along with decades old combs and brushes. Sure, I cleaned them, but, well, their age was starting to show. This set is terrific for all ages and sexes. Something for everyone. The two pieces I use the most are the rat tailed comb that was used in the 1960's to back comb hair as high as the arms could stretch...great for sectioning hair for styling. The other comb is a wide toothed comb, perfect for combing out my long hair after shampoo etc. The two brushes look great. The wider brush reminds me of the one my father used.
