  • Okay Quality, Good For The Price
Color: Black+Black+Black
ARM STAND: Okay Quality, Okay Usage First let me talk about the microphone arm stand. While it might not fit desks with frames close to the edge, the stand is relatively light, and should work fine. However, the weight is an important factor to consider when upgrading microphones. Higher quality microphones will cost more (obviously) and weigh more. Any extra weight will weigh down the swivel connection to the clamp on the desk. This will cause the entire stand to lean forward and dig into the desk as it swivels. I had to change to a sturdier desk clamp and stand after about 2 months of usage with a heavier microphone. The divot in the edge of my desk is still there from the bent mic stand arm. This will cost you more when upgrading, due to the lower quality of the stand. MICROPHONE: Okay Quality, Good Usage The microphone has okay quality. Good for the price. The only issue is that in order to get the best possible sound from it, you need an aux input with phantom power, in which, not every PC has. Which makes this microphone not quite recommended for beginners who record on laptops who don't have access, or don't have a phantom powered aux input. However, if you know you have a powered aux, and are not looking for a studio quality microphone, but decent quality to start out, this is good. POP FILTER: Low Quality, Good Usage The pop filter isn't exactly top tier, but it will stop plosives well. That's all you could really ask for. Quality of the stand for the pop filter is less than good. The base connection from the stand to the clamp easily wears out and can detach. It isn't too difficult to bend the pop stand to stay up even if the connection isn't solid. You could also glue it back if it will bother you, since the pop filter itself swivels on the stand giving you some freedom. Lastly, the quality of the clamp for the pop stand feels weak and is small, and seems like it wouldn't fit the mic stand it comes with. The foam cover for the microphone works well and is non-intrusive, unlike the pop filter. SHOCK MOUNT: Okay Quality, Good Usage The Shock Mount for the Microphone is decent quality, and worth it for the money. It does it's job and it better than some other shock mounts out there. Fit's the microphone perfectly. All in all, it's worth it. Just don't call yourself a voice actor for buying this. ... show more

  • This is a great set up for a youtube start up
Color: Black+Black+Black
After reading alot of reviews and deciding that I would actually like to make my own reviews on tech products many people recommended this Boom Arm/ Mic combo. Please note: I did NOT get this item for free or for any discounts. I bought it just like you and paid the full price. That being said, I feel the product is ok for the price. The Boom Pros: The springs are solid and things do stay where you place them for the most part. The paint is nice and its appearance on your desk would look very professional to the untrained eye. For the money, it works as expected and is a good starting place to get your set up completed with perhaps looking to upgrade it later saving you some money to invest in other critical parts that actually affect your sound quality.. Cons: The boom arm itself works but it does have a few small issues. For example the joint that holds the shock mount (the aluminum colored piece that the shock mount screws into) only pivots up and down and one direction. This would be better if it had a ball type of swivel so that you could angle the Microphone in any direction. When you clamp it to your desk you can no longer move the boom back and forth as the entire thing will only extend or retract with no bending joint giving you any ability to move the mic for and aft therefore adjusting the boom back and forth is not as simple as you would think if you expect it to move in all directions. The way it clamps to the desk is not an issue but the tension knob on the little dowel that you insert into it is a weak point. The dowel should be bigger or the hole should be smaller, there is a lot of play here back and forth no matter how much you tighten it. That being said, it's not exactly a piece of professional studio equipment but it will get the job done. The Shock Mount Pros: it holds the NW-700 just fine. The finish is nice and it does a good job isolating any vibrations that might come through the desk. Cons: The "elastic" tends to come unhooked from the hooks when making adjustments. It is not a big deal to fix but I could see that being annoying if you constantly try to move the mic with your hand on it. The Pop Filter Pros: It's a pop filter. It does what it is supposed to do and again adds to that "pro" look for the amateur starting out. I am not sure what makes a good pop filter or a bad one, this one works Cons: Mounting it to the Boom, it kept falling off everytime I tried to adjust it. I just use the foam cover on the mic itself as I found that to be too much effort to keep having the screw back on. Yes, I did use enough tension, in fact to the point of bending one of the arms on the boom using the tensioner as a vice on it trying to get it to stay put. The NW-700: This is a condenser mic, you DO need a phantom power supply. Mine has yet to arrive however I was able to power it and use it somewhat without it using the mic jack in my gaming keyboard. The sound was a bit tinny and there was a high pitch frequency noise but I can only assume this is because I am not yet running it to the 48v phantom power supply I also ordered from Neewer yet as it has not arrived. I hesitate to list this as a con but then again for the price, I am not expecting huge things from it. It is an entry level condenser mic, if that is what you are looking for, then this is probably exactly what you are needing. ... show more
